Titleist DCI 990-B Irons

Titleist DCI 990-B Irons

DESCRIPTION

From Titleist: "The new 990-B is similar to the original 990 in that the head is designed with upper and lower mass elements in cavity, or “weight pads” behind striking area. In the long irons, the lower cavity pad is thicker and the upper cavity pad is thinner to create a lower center of gravity (CG) and promote playability and higher ball flight. In the short irons, the lower cavity pad is thinner and upper cavity pad is thicker to produce a higher CG and lower, more controllable ball flight. The 990-B Cavity is slightly smaller than DCI 990 iron for added workability."

With Sensicore shafts, this is a very enjoyable club. Had gottent these before new a few years ago with stiff S300 Dynamic Gold, but my hands stung too much and the club was harder to control. Needless to say, a swing change had a lot to do with this, and it is more on plane. Titleist gave this a great design. They looked forged, but it is still a cast head. Feedback from shots is minimal at best. I had more response from Mizuno MP-14s. Nevertheless, these are an enjoyable club to swing with minimal offset and a micro sweet spot, that is why they should put a disclaimer for 4 handicap, scratch, or plus 4. They are not for 90 percent of the golfing public, just the few.

Customer Service

Titleist customer service routes everything through the dealer, which is good for the pro's business. Lie adjustments ($5 a clubhead) and reconditioning ($20 a clubhead) is about average in the industry. Turnaround time on factory modification is about 3 weeks. Do your changes in the off season or get a backup to use in the meantime.

These are great clubs. Switched from Cleveland TA3 FF and absolutely love them. I am hitting the ball further and a lot more consistent.

Do you take these irons...I DO!! I''ve tried ALOT of irons on demo days and, in between. From the setup behind the ball to, the transition through the ball is absolutely incredible. As a power player, I play X-100 shafts and have no problem stepping on the gas, or, swinging easy to get my desired distance. Dead straight ball flight and workable as well. I haven''t had any issues at all with 2nd cuts of rough either. Truth be told. I''ve outdriven a few playing partners with the 3-iron off the ground. Yes I just ordered the 2i to complete the set. I only wish NY had year ''round weather to truly demolish some real estate right now. If you''re not playing these irons, you''re just playing. Praise Titleist!!

Customer Service

Unmatched. Extremely tuned in to any questions I had before purchasing, and continued after.

SWITCHED FROM 990 TO 990-B A LOTS OF DIFFERENCE. MORE CONTROL AND WORKABILITY, BETTER ALIGNMENT, LONG IRONS ARE EASIER TO HIT WITH HIGHER TRAJECTORY. I RECOMMENDED FOR LOW HANDICAPS.

Purchased recently and love them!!! Love! My handicap is a 15 and I consider myself a decent ball striker with a bad short game. I dispute that these clubs are for low handicappers. The biggest thing is the fitting. I have found bad shots lose distance but are not really errant left and right (slice / hook)

Great! Go with the best. I had Yonex and they sucked a melon - and still do.

Was going to buy 990's, tried B's just to see. WOW! 990's with added distance and feel, great idea Davis Love.

Don't be intimidated, they're not much smaller than 990's.

Customer Service

If you live in MN go to Golf Galaxy in Roseville, avoid the store in Bloomington ( terrible customer service )
