I don't normally write reviews, but in this instance I thought it was worth it. I don't consider myself 'brand loyal', but bought my first set of titleists a few years back (DCI 981) and loved em. Ever since then, more and more titleist clubs have worked their way into my bag.

This year I decided that it was time for a change, and had heard great things about the mizuno mp60s, but didn't know if i could make the transition to that type of club, so I hit as many types of clubs as I could this spring: 790cb, mp32, mp60, srixon i506, ping g5 and I5, callaway fusion, taylor made rac. Most of the irons were good and comparable (except for the callaways, hated em! Dont know why phil went there). The irons that separated themselves from the bunch were the mp60's. They pretty much were everything they were hyped to be, and I almost bought them. One complaint if any was that they seemed to launch the ball alittle higher than I was looking for, and nothing special for distance. I hadn't yet tried the 735cms, so I waited until I had the opportunity to hit them.

Good thing I waited, because these are in my opinion, the best and most playable irons that titleist has made. The first bucket I hit was the best all year! The first time i addressed the ball, I felt confident. Nearly every ball was dead nuts off the center of the club face, penetrating and long, without being overly lofty or ballooning into the wind. I felt like I could work the ball, left, right, low or high, which is something I had trouble doing with the 981's. THe sole is amazing, these things just rip through the turf like butter. The thing that was the most prominent to me is the flighted trajectory in each club; the longer irons were very easy to hit and launched the ball alittle higher, but flat and controllable. the shorter irons were more driving and very workable, you can do anything with them. On top of all else they are great to look at. A am now shooting in the mid 80's with no trouble, many times feeling like it would have been easy to shoot in the high 70's, with a couple less mental/human errors.

In short, Titleist has hit a homer with these clubs!! Awesome in nearly every sense. Very playable, long and pretty. I would not probably buy them however, if you don't shoot in the 80's regularly. Great clubs!!

Finally, a set of irons that give me some confidence and play exceptionally well!! I have been serious about getting better at the game of golf for a little over two years now. I started off with a set of Dunlop Tour TI irons as a starter set in the spring of 2004. I played these irons for about a year before I decided to go with a better iron (or so I thought). After my starter set, I purchased the Nike CPR set which was at least a club shorter than my $30 dunlop set. I made the mistake of buying a set of clubs by going with a brand (great job Nike advertising) that I had never hit which I learned my lesson the hard way. I quickly sold this set and went to hit some clubs to see what worked well for me. I decided to go with the Rac LT's which were great clubs for me. I would recommend them to anyone who is a mid handicapper to at least give them a few swings. These were in my bag for over a year and have produced my best rounds to date. After I felt my swing had improved and my ball striking had gotten better I decided it was time to tune my swing a bit better and go with a set of forged irons. I hit about every forged iron golfgalaxy and golfsmith had to offer including the taylormade tp, mizuno mp-60 mp-30 and mp-32, titleist 695 cb 695 mb and 735 cb, nike pro combo and yes, the callaway x-tours. I never thought I would own a set of Callaway's in my entire life becuase I don't like the way they look, how big and clunky they are etc. However, I hit them the best out of the clubs I tested so I figured I'd give them a try. It didn't take long before I hated everything about the Callaways that I always have and sold them within a month. I knew right then that I was going with either the Titleist 695 cb or 735 cm. I decided to go with the 735 cm in chrome. I played a round and hit a few buckets of range balls and struggled instantly. Once I got them fit and got used to the clubs I quickly found out what makes the titleist name what it is. The long irons are as easy to hit as I have ever found and can now say that I can finally hit an iron over a 5. Although I still play a 3 hybrid, the four iron is very easy to hit and goes a long way. Very easy to get up in the air and good workability. The low and mid irons are also very workable and give great distance. I was hitting my pitching wedge 135-140 with my rac lt's and am carrying it about 10 yards further with the 735's. The top line is very thin and the entire set looks like a true blade. Stock shaft is what it is (dynamic gold s-300) and the chord grip is great (if you like chord grips.) Great feedback whether you hit it thin, off the toe, or the occassional duck hook, you know it. They are more forgiving than I had expected they would be but you can't really expect exceptional forgiveness from a forged club. Overall, excellent clubs for a low to mid handicap whose swing is dialed in and has good ball striking. Not recommended for those who shoot in the mid to upper 90's and above.

I played two rounds and took them in to trade. I hit some good shots but I also hit some horrible shots. The clubs just did not suit me but they might fit right into someone elses game. They felt great and hit the ball toward the target. Distance control and solid shots were a problem.

These are some of the best clubs ever made... not only are they extremely beautiful clubs but the progressive set allows skilled players workability in scoring irons and forgiveness in longer irons. the feel is incredible... the one thing I personally looked out for was Titleist's and basically every other manufactures automatic stock true temper shafts... in my opinion do not ruin these clubs with dynamic gold... I was custom fitted into Precision Project X shafts (this shaft is currently being used by 6 of the top 10 players in the world, incl. Tiger, Phil and Ernie) amazing clubs!

I’ve been playing golf for just under 6 years now and I can truthfully state that these clubs have helped me become a better golfer and to which are far superior to others in the same market. While I have posted that I am a 80’s shooter (12 handicap) I firmly believe that my handicap after buying these irons will “finally” be in the low single digits before summers end. This may sound like someone blowing his horn but please let me state why I believe that these clubs are superior to many of the big brands out there and why they should be on the top of your list if you are shopping for a premium set of clubs. My swing tempo and speed are fairly quick, with my 5 iron at 92mph and driver head speed at 106 mph, while not world class, it puts a premium on knowing were your golf club head is during all phases of your swing. From the start of your backswing and all the way through the ball, these clubs more than any other tell you were your at and what is happening through the business end of the shot. Yes, you need to hit the sweet spot closer to center than a game enhancement club for decent results, but the beauty of these clubs is that if you miss they will tell you were the miss was. Additionally good ball strikers will get instant feedback on ball placement from the face of the club and to which their shot decision will be all the while easier. Try that with a Big Bertha shovel, or a Ping/Taylor Made which all employ some sort of device/design to subdue the miss. In my quest for a lower handicap and better game these clubs have helped me grove a better swing and concentrate/focus more. I honestly believe that it will help you too.
I bought these clubs 6 months ago and have waited to see their outcome with my game to make a honest assessment. As advertised these clubs are a blended forged set. If you’ve never hit a forged club on the sweet spot you are missing out on one of the greatest pleasures of actually hitting a golf ball. Yeah a cast club may be similar and not give you as much of a “zinger” if not smoothed out, but like I said these clubs will tell you were your missing, and in the end help you focus. Because the material of a forge club is softer I’ve used club covers since buying them. True “players” scoff at covers but it’s my damm preparative to use them and in the end I love looking down at a club that doesn’t look like you dug a trench in you back yard with. I leave the head cover off my three iron, so people can still see what I play with. lol. The brilliance in a blended set is that each club, through it’s designed increases playability for a specific task, with the longer irons having cavity backs and blades through the scoring irons. Like many of the post here I have found the longer irons are easy to hit. Long iron ball flights are high but not obnoxious to the point of ballooning. The scoring irons (Pw-8) with their mid trajectory are like surgical tools, they are also very easy to dial in spin and roll out with your approach shots. Baring shaft, which play the main role of ball flight the guys in the R&D department have hit a homerun with the lofts and grooves throughout the set. Again baring the golf club shaft, by simply moving the ball through your stance you can dial in the ball flight you want.
Like many golfers new to the sport I bought a set of “Game Enhancement” clubs. I took a couple lessons and tried to make my way to the range when possible. IMO these clubs are great for the new beginner but if a person plays more than a couple rounds a month and truly wants to improve they must get rid of the “training wheels” incorporated in those clubs. The Titleist 735cm’s are just the ticket for that. Some people may think that this is too much of a players club for a the average hack and may scoff at the idea of a person shooting in the 90’s buying this as a second set. Just as I did and continue to do I think that a person regardless of their handicap possessing a fairly decent swing and a willingness to practice will benefit from these clubs immensely.

Customer Service

Great. My Titleist spent over 3 hours insuring that we got my fit right. I ordered them with thinner grips a few other tweaks, got them 3 days later. Getting fitted to your clubs regardless of the brand should be the number one priority after deciding on your purchase. Titleist has set the bar with helping you with being fitted.

I've had these irons for 6 months and have grown to love them. At first, they can be humbling. A good swing with these clubs will end in a good result. A bad swing will result in a bad shot. They do not give any gifts. However, they provide great feedback. As soon as you make contact, you'll know where the ball's going. My swing speed is on the fringe between regular flex and stiff. I was fitted with the stiff to provide more accuracy and better ball flight. I do notice, however, that I've lost about 5-10 yards in comparison with my old cavity back Dunlop irons with regular shafts. I'll take accuracy over distance any day. I own the stainless version. The finish scratches rather easily. Using a club brush, I accidently put fine scratches on most of my clubs after the first round. I was bummed at first, but I knew they weren't going to stay new for long.

Have had these now for a few weeks and and generally pleased with them. Couple points to consider though.

They provide a lot of feedback. If you don't like gobs of feedback, stay away. If your swing is not spot on you will get frustrated very easily. Also, they require a smooth and easy tempo, if you get quick and cast at all you will not like the result.

All in all, they have made me focus on my swing and not get sloppy, sloppy with these will hurt you badly.

The 8 throughh PW (muscle back) are a bit less forgiving than the cavity back 7-3, in my opinion.

Golfers who do not have a relatively reliable and consistent swing should avoid these clubs.

No...there is not a better Mizuno alternative to these.

If you are reading the reviews on this set of irons on purpose, then you are most likely considering some Mizuno irons as well, and are looking for some help in making your decision.

Buy these.

I have had these irons for about a month now. I've played 4 full rounds with them thus far. These last 4 rounds have been my best ever, and I'm getting better adjusted to these clubs every week. I imagine the by years end, I'll be down to a 10 handicap.

What seperates these irons from most of the competitors is the consistency. My distance control is exceptional with these sticks. This has been a huge factor in my improvement in my iron play. Yes, I still miss shots left and right from time to time, but the distance control is superb at all times.

The PW/9/8 irons are great. The muscleback construction offers fantastic feel and feedback. The weighting is perfect, and is now crucial in my swing. I have a fairly slow tempo, a lot of extension, a relatively soft grip, and rely on timing and release/contact to produce the shot required. The design of these clubs make such a swing possible, and playable. Yes, you read that right. This is a swing that I have always had, but never made prior to buying these clubs. Why? Because before these clubs I was playing with tools which forced me to play to THEIR deficiencies rather than MY strenghts. These 735's just pull the finesse swing out of you, and reward you so heavily for it that you cannot help but to continue making it over and over again. And it's not like I swing easy and hit short either. For reference, I hit my PW up to about 140 yards, my 9 iron 145-150 yards, and my 8 iron 155-160 yards. This is longer than average, and my swing feels effortless.

So what about the rest of the irons in the set? They're great to. Titleist really got the progression from club to club correct. The mid-irons perform flawlessly, and are probably the most consistent in the set. Thanks to their design, the longer irons are incredibly easy to hit, so much so that I'm considering putting the 3 iron back in the bag. Every iron inspires confidence, and set up so well at address. You feel like you are going to hit a great shot before you swing, and this is invaluable in the mental game of golf.

These clubs peform better than any irons I have ever used, they look fantastic, and considering what you get, the price is pretty darn good. If anything, these are player-improvement irons. My swing mechanics have gotten so much better since using these, and I don't expect that improvement to hault anytime soon. I highly recommend these irons to anybody from about a 14 handicap down. I am absolutely certain that I made the right choice in buying these irons. If you are considering these irons, and are a better player, I believe you will feel the same way if/when you purchase a set for yourself.

And besides, who wants to buy golf equipment from the same company that makes pink softball bats and Volleyball shorts? Not me.

Don't believe the hype. Titleist is the way to go here.

I've to say, these are an excellent set of irons. They may be a little challenging for some, but to me, they are awesome! Ball flight is excellent, and the long irons are a breeze to hit! These are also the most good looking irons i've ever seen. I'm using the NS pro stiff shaft. Ever since i got my irons, i've been playing LOW 80s instead of my high 80s. Ball fight and positioning is soo accurate! and when you hit the sweet spot! the impact is very crisp!

Problem with these clubs is that you have to really baby sit them. Mine is the chrome face one, and they get very easily dented(chrome area) by the clubs knocking one another when i carry my bag. They club face also gets scratched quite easily. Thus i've to buy iron covers to protect my irons. Problem is, that you cant show them off!! =)

Customer Service

Well i got mine custom made, cause i've big hands! and the titleist staff that did the custom was VERY PROFESSIONAL and friendly. Took only half a week to get my clubs direct from acushnet.

Just what I needed. I am coming of a set of x-tours. What a dissapointment. I loved them, except they didn't go anywhere, way too much spin. nearly every iron balloons. These titleist feel like butter. the blade short irons get the ball up quickly, but penetrating flight. wind has little effect. long irons seem very forgiving and feel like the blades. im back to taking 9 iron from 150. with the x tours i was taking 7 iron and struggling with that into a little wind. These irons are beautiful and play like it. i am actually considering getting a 2 iron and replacing my hybrid. My ben hogan ftx set is very good looking and they fly farther, but not as forgiving.
