I had been playing Ping i3+ blades for the past year and although they are great clubs, I'm not sure why they are called blades when in fact they are Cavity backs. I bought the Ping i3+ blades because everyone told me only scratch golfers should be playing true forged blades. Wierd when most of us over 18 grew up playing blades... I finally broke down and bought a new set of these and I am very very happy. Sure you need to hit the ball in the sweet spot which is smaller than most cavity backs but isn't that the name of the game. Me personally, I no longer want to play a club that compensates for lack of skill. I want to get better. In review, these blades are absolutely the best there is. Mizuno controlled this end of the market for a long time, but Titleist has really improved the design and quite honestly you will find the 690.MB more forgiving than Mizuno, Nike, or the Cleveland TA1. When you get these clubs experiment by putting impact labels on the faces and concentrate on solid contact and take note of where you are missing. If you work at it, you will be rewarded with the sweetest feeling and accuracy you just cannot get from the cavity back world. Good shot, bad shot, cavity backs feel numb. Not these. These give you feedback along with checking your impact labels at the range. For the weekend golfer, these are not improvement clubs, but for someone who really wants to groove their swing and really work at getting better, this is your improvement club. They will make you a better ballstriker and your confidence will grow immensely. I've only had these 4days now but I'm a little disappointed. After playing 36 holes the other day I shot my worst 2 rounds in 6 months. Before going out I hit maybe 3 dozens balls and the clubs were quite responsive, but on the course the did not live up to the hype. This morning I went through the hole set, hitting about 200 balls and it was not until I got to the last 30-40 balls I was starting to feel comfortable with the clubs. It's probably my swing but just last week I had a 74 usng my MacGregor pmbs. I'll give another review in 2 months. Customer Service Fantastic! Outstanding clubs. Best feel ever, if you are want to take your game to the next level, purchase these iron. Workability is great. With the new technology forged blades as easy to hit as cavity back. Highly recommend. |

I'm a high 80s player, and I used these irons all summer. I previously owned Mizuno MX-20s and Callaway X-14 Pro Series. Call me crazy, but I find these irons easier to hit than my old Callways. I can safely say the 690MBs are my favorite irons, and they definitely aren't just for low handicappers. My iron play was better than ever this summer - I've never been as accurate. I even feel confident with the 3-iron, which was a shocker because I've never been able to hit one in the past. I bought these with DG S300 shafts, but I actually think an R300 shaft might've been the better choice. I hit my 690MBs one to 1.5 clubs shorter than my old Callaway X-14s, but much more accurately. I'm hoping that if I switch to R300s I'll regain some of that distance and still keep most of the accuracy. (My avg. drive is 240, so I'm not a real long hitter. I've got the Cobra SS427 driver in the bag and I couldn't be happier with it.) Customer Service Not used. Similar Products Used: Callaway X-14 Pro Series, Mizuno MX-20, King Cobra II |

Titleist 690 MB Iron Set
I purchased the 690.MB's back in March. I've played with them all year. They are incredibly consistent irons and very workable. I also had a travel set of 731PM irons. Decent clubs, but can't compare to the 690's. In my quest this summer for a new travel set of irons, I tried everything (Mizuno MP-30's, Callaway X-16's, Ping I3+ blades, Nike pro-combos, etc.) At the end of the day, I ended up buying another set of 690MB's (still debated getting the 690CB's instead....but I didn't want to mess with perfection). These clubs are easy to hit and there are two big advantages to the 690MB's vs. everything else I tried. First, if you are between clubs, you can jump on the lesser club and get an extra 5 to 7 yards out of it. When I tried this with a big honkin' cavity back, forget it, the club crapped out....usually producing a weakass fade. Second, if you're in the second cut of grass, I found the big cavity backs get bogged down when trying to swing through the second cut of grass, whereas the 690MB cut right through taller grass. As for the question, "am I good enough to play these?" Well, you should be able to break 90 8 times out of 10, and occassionaly break 80. Don't be afraid to order these with a True Temper R300 shaft, if your swing speed isn't above 90 miles/hour. That will help make the club a little more "hittable". But, there is nothing like hitting a forged blade. Customer Service Titleist (Accushnet) Canada is very poor. They take forever to deliver the product. I recently changed from Taylor Made 200's to the Titleist 690mb irons. These clubs are awesome they have great head weight and ball trajectory. The only fault is about a 5 yard loss of distance. I used to shoot in the high 70's but now I'm shooting mid to low 70's. |

Great clubs! I just replaced my Hogan Apex’s with these beauties. Trajectory is quite a bit higher with all irons and distance seems to be 1/2 club shorter. Although not a game improvement club, these are definitely more forgiving than MB's get credit for. Easily workable in all directions and trajectories. I highly recommend these to any golfer who is interested in improving their scores. My scores went down since I switched to blades 4 years ago. Haven't hit them yet. Customer Service After reading all these great reviews I went out and ordered a set of LH 2-PW on Friday. I have not hit them yet but wanted to give a warning. I currently play 962 DCIs 2deg. upright and 1-1/2 long. With the 690MB, Titleist said they could only go 1/2 long, which would have meant I needed 4deg. upright. They would only go 2deg. Anything built outside those specs would not be warrantied. Since I believe in the quality of Titleist, I took a stock set and they are extending them and changing the lie for me. I don't care if I lose the warranty if they are as good as all of you have said. Thanks for the reviews and I'll put one up after I get out and play with them. |

These are very hot clubs....I just purchased these with tt x300 shafts 2-pw...arent the most forgiving clubs ever made but if you can handle a small sweet spot club, then purchase these...when you use these clubs, every time you hit a ball on or around the sweetspot, it will go the right distance. This is a great club and was the one that won me my tournament the next day. |

Recently switched from Taylor Made 300's with Rifle Tour Flighted 6.7 shafts. Felt like switching for no particular reason. I am glad I did. Great set up, looks hitable, and feels solidly soft. ball flight is still high but tighter flight path, lost about 5 yards in length, maybe due to 1 inch shorter shafts and true forged blades. mis-hits are decent, but defintely can felt. I think these clubs are great for anyone with the mentality that mis-hits arent supposed to be good, they are supposed to tell us whats wrong so we can fix it.
