these golf clubs are the worst thing i ever tried ....i mean no feeling at all its like hitting with a baseball bat,i believe these clubs where intended for beginners because you can't hardly work the ball with them...and for the price(400.00 can) you should go for an orlimar hip steel(200.00 can) it will cost you less and you will have more fun

I have owned three sets of Taylor Made irons over the past 8 years. My first set was the rac HT (high trajectory) irons. These were okay but the ball flight was too high for my liking. I traded them in for the TM r7 XD's which are an awesome set of irons. I handed those down to my son. Next, I purchased a used set of Mizuno MP 60's and I watched my scores go up. I don't fault the Mizuno's. I believe they were above my skill level. Finally, ttying to get back to basic playablility and wanting to have more fun on the golf course, I began trying to figure out which set of irons would be best suited for a 55 year old,16 handicapper. I began searching the golf review websites and decided to give the TM OS 2 the nod. I play a standard length and lie angle club. I opened the box at the golf course parking lot and took them out for a spin. All I can say is,WOW!!!
These clubs are long and straight. I don't work the ball much (am not skilled enough) so I am very happy with STRAIGHT!!
These irons made me smile repeatedly yesterday afternoon. I believe I have found the middle-handicapper's holy grail of playability!!! Thanks Taylor Made, these irons are awesome!

Ball flight is very consistent. High and soft. Great feel, not too harsh and easy to hit out of any lie. I don't see why people punish themselves with "player's clubs" when you can enjoy golf and play with these babies. I chose these over the Mizuno MX-23s because in New England the late fall and early spring are harsh and the RACs were less harsh on the hands. Several of my golf buddies play RACs and at vastly different handicaps and enjoy them. At $250 on ebay new or less, this is a great bargain. My Nicklaus irons were in my bag for 8 years, these RACs will be in my bag for just as long!

I just started playing 2 'n half years ago with a "hand me down from my uncle" set of 1984 Ping eye 2. A year ago (October 2006) I figured I liked the sport and decided to buy a brand new set. After some research and a good deal from a friend who owns a sporting goods store, I went with the TayorMade OS2 steel.

They've been good to me and I have to concur with all the nice things that have been said about these clubs. However, I had a little problem. Last April I went to Nick Faldo's at Orlando for a 3 day Golf Academy. Part of the package was an evaluation with Nick's own club fitter (Randall). He tested these club lie, length, grip and shaft oscillations (FCM). These clubs come with a "T-step" 90 gram steel shaft. This is a very nice shaft if you want “ladies flex” or “soft senior” at best. That was the result of the frequency evaluation of the shaft. I concurred with the evaluation because unless you don't swing nice and "REALLY EASY (as in slow)" you won't get much extra yardage if you hit with a moderate speed swing (regular flex) hence you could end up pulling the ball or pitching it too high (my case). When I went back home my friend from the sporting goods store sent the whole set to TaylorMade with my concerns. TM responded with a "there are regular flex in our table". So I figured "I should change my golf instructor, nothing wrong with the clubs" (lol). Eight months after sending you my clubs for evaluation, (2 weeks ago) my club 8 shaft "gave up" and I went to a golf shop (different from where I bought them) to have it changed. Luckily for me they didn't have the T-step 90 so I had it replaced with a True Temper Dynamic. If I’m not mistaken it’s a 120 gram shaft.

Well, I go to a practice range facility regularly (at least twice a week, take a lesson every three weeks). While taking a lesson I started hitting the 8 iron (new shaft) and with a decent (not too hard) pressed stroke I could almost reach the 165 yard pin (maybe 5 to 10 yards shy of it). The teacher said "not bad, you are hitting it good today". After hitting a few balls with it, I said to the teacher "let me try my 6". He responded "ok. go ahead; it should carry well a pass the 165 pin". To tell the truth I could not reach it... I press on the club more and with a solid hit it will either pull it or fly too high and not carry much. I tried a generous "half swing" at it will carry 5 yards less than with a full swing. It got me thinking... So today I stopped today at the golf shop with the rest of the set. I had the club fitter test the frequency of my 6 and it showed a "ladies flex". He then tested the frequency of the 8 he change the week before and it was indeed a regular flex. Amazing isn't it? I left the whole set...to change. It’s gonna cost me $35 each shaft and $10 TM grip. I have nothing else to add.

As a fairly new golfer, I began with a friend's Ping irons. After several awful rounds I was almost to the point of giving it up. Another friend of mine recommended the RAC OS set of irons before giving up the game...we now play every week together. These irons are amazingly forgiving. I immediately began hitting straighter shots which gave me the confidence to begin developing my game. Even my not so pretty mis-hits go straight enough for me to avoid "blowing up" too often.
If you are new to golf and find yourself getting past the point of frustration, I highly recommend you try these irons before you condemn yourself to a life without this wonderful game.
In a matter of about a year, my scores have steadily gone from low 100s to my most recent score of 84. The confidence these clubs provide may be exactly what you need to begin improving your shot consistency. I will be forever greatful to these clubs for allowing me the opportunity to see just how gratifying the game of golf can be.

Customer Service

I have not had to use any form of CS, but if its anything like these irons, I'm sure its outstanding.

As a new golfer I was told to try the TaylorMade rac OS2 pitching wedge, that it was a forgiving club for the newbie. I would have to agree! I do however find that the steel is a little heavy.

These Irons are Excellent, and for the Price, you cant not try them!! I bought these irons, and after one night at the driving range I took them out onto the course and shot my best score ever- 3 Over the card after 9 holes. I hit a natural straight shot, so if you do as well, be prepared for a draw at first. After a while you should adjust to them nicely!!

Model Reviewed: Taylor Made Rac OS II

This review is about the TM RAC OS II with regular 90g steel shafts. Well, I must say this was my first and only set of irons so far. Nevertheless, I often try my partners' sticks because I am kind of curious about golf gear so I kind of have terms of comparison..

Taylor Made RAC OS II are great for the newcomers do this sport. It is really forgiving on mis-hits and thin shots and its wide sole will help you make solid contact on any kind of lie you may find your ball after hitting the "hammer".

I personally find the long irons (3 and 4) hard to hit if you are not physically strong and if your clubhead speed is not that fast (anything below 80 mph)! However, because of the large cavity back, the ball will fly, even if only a low flight, on poorly hit shots.

The mid irons is an all different story. Really easy to hit on every lie and I personally think that they will give you an extra distance compared with clubs for high handicappers.

The short irons are sweet! Really, but really forgiving (wider sole than the mid and long irons). So don't be surprised to find more greens on short par-4. However if you are a mid handicapper who's beggining to enjoy working the ball, these are not for you! Really difficult to make back spin with these clubs and to draw or fade with the short irons. However, if you are looking at this review you are not likely to want to work the ball but instead to hit the ball straight. This club will do the job for you even on poor shots! (Remember that swing mechanics is what indeed drives the ball straight, but clubs can help you improve poor contact outcomes!)

The pitching wedge around greens is not so great. It has to much bounce and a really wide sole which keeps you from making good solid contact particularly in flop shots (straight up and down balls).

What I can say is that if your are willing to buy these clubs, forget the RAC OS and go for the RAC OS II. Much easier to hit, and far more forgiving! However, if you are a mid+/high hcp I would advise you to try the Callaway X-20. These deliver a really high trajectory even on long irons which the RAC OS II don't (at least for me).

I have had these irons for about two years since they were first introduced, in that time I hane reduced my handycap from 10 to 6, great irons that give you confidance over every shot. I don`t play the sand iron as I love Cleveland 988 wedges around greens.
Model now being phased out, bought my son a set, get them before they are unavailable or you will miss out on a great set of clubs.
