TM RAC LT Rifle 6.0
First of all let me state that during my search for the perfect set of clubs my game has suffered. I should be shooting in the high 70's but now struggle in the low 80's. During the last year I have tried all of the sets below and have decided on the Taylor Mades. For me these are the reasons why: 1. Great feel - I found that smooth as butter feeling more often with the LT's. 2. Workability - I am not the best golfer in the world but can draw and fade shots. It was easier for me with the LT's. I could not do this very well at all with the MP30's and Nike's. 3. The Rifle shaft. In all honesty I should have compared all clubs with the same shaft but did not. The Golfsmiths had Rifle 6.0's in them and they felt better than the Ping's, Mizuno's and Nike's. 4. The LT stands for low trajectory. With my swing I needed this as oversize clubs with offset tend to produce hooks and flyers. Minimum offset is great and sufficient enough on the longer irons to provide that "game improvement" quaility. Please remember this is just my opinion! I have spent lots of money getting to this point. (Thank God for ebay) Now let's hope I can be a 7 hdcp once again. Customer Service Have not had to use. Taylor Made RAC LT (10 irons)
I've only been playing 6 months and I started with Ping Zing 2 irons. I was looking to find reasonably priced irons that would bring my game to the next level and I found them with these irons. My handicap has gone down 10 strokes since I got these clubs, and it's easy to understand why. These clubs inspire confidence, the nice balance of the club (heavy head with a light shaft) and the perfect feeling and feedback that you get with a nice shot really give you the psychological edge you need in the game. The pro at the golf shop actually recommneded that I got the OS instead because I shot in the 110's before I got these clubs, but in the end I got these clubs because it will really help my game not just now but for the next few years. RAC LT 3-SW Graph
Switched from RAC OS (great irons if you have a fade / slice shot as your natural swing pattern, due to the auto correction resulting from the Offset the OS have built in) My natural pattern being a draw, with the OS , now and then I became a serious hooker (no double meaning). Was not convinced at once, as the LT are less forgiving than the OS, their sweet spot is smaller, and they are less "strong" Pitching Wedge OS= 45 deg Pitching Wedge LT=47 deg. Having said that, they are much more forgiving than the TM 300 - TM RAC MB which i previously owned / tried. Their lower sole is narrower than the OS, their center of gravity is higher, so again fat shots are more likely to occur, they will "dig" more easily than "bounce" on the turf. On the other hand when in the rough (it happens now and then), the narrower sole has its advantages. After some practice, I will never go back to the OS, the LT are definitively best suited for a low / mid handicaper than the OS. The trajectory they deliver is lower (LT= low trajectory) than the OS, but they are weaker (loft) than the OS, so the distance achieved with the same club number is similar, both on the high, long side compared to whatever clubs I have put my hands on in the past. Their shaft is less whippy, feels stronger than the OS's, probably due to the firm tip (LT)compared to the soft tip (OS) They look gorgeous, as any TM irons these days, and are very reasonably priced compared to the irons from the other 3-4 top brands. Probably the best cast Irons these days for players under 15 Handicap, at least for me. Rac LT
I purchased the RAC LTs in Melbourne over Xmas. I wanted a second set of irons for Jakarta and presently have a set of TM 300s in Australia for teh trips home. The RAC LTs are without doubt the best irons I have hit. My handicap has come down from 16 to 13 in a few months and I shot a 1 over par on the back nine of a shortish but very tight Greg Norman course last week mainly due to the irons accuracy (unfortunately 11 over on the front nine). They are longer than the TMs - about 5 -10 yards and more forgiving on off centre hits. I have put the three iron back in the back because of the distance I can get with it and the accuracy on the short but tight par fours. I love the Precision shaft and use the 5.0 (swing speed with driver about 90 mph)which equates to Dynamic Gold R-300. I have hit and owned a number of irons over the last couple of years, including Wilson fat shafts, Titleist 990, Callaway x-14 Pro series, Mizuno Pro 2, and Taylormade 300s, and can say without doubt that this iron beats them all. You can feel when you don't centre the ball but not a lot of lost distance - just the right feedback. I would recommend these clubs to anyone from scratch to a 20 handicap. Anyone with a slice in their game, have a look at the RAC OS irons with more offset and forgiveness, I think I'll be getting a 3, 4 and 5 iron in OS and doing a combo set for even more confidence. Taylor Made Rac LT
I have played an old set of Titelist DCI (Black diamonds) for about 8 years and loved them but needed a newer and more of a players club. Also I have never ever been a fan of Taylor Made equipment, just the opposite. I have tried many forged cavity back clubs for the last tree seasons but couldn't justify buying new ones cause never really hit any better than the DCI's. This year I demoed the RAC LT and Mizuno MP 30. I was immediately impressed with the solid and powerful characteristics and more impressed by the feel and workability. These irons look great with traditional setup and lines and perform even better. My one concern was going from cast cavity back to a forged club. I had hit the Cleveland TA-3, Hogen Apex, Mizuno T-Zoid and even the Taylor made 300. All really seemed to sacrifice forgiveness and distance on off center hits. These RAC LT's don't do that. I love these irons looks, feel, power, forgiveness. If you are looking for these attributes in a club you owe it to yourself to demo them or just buy them. Taylor Made RAC LT
Just finished my first game with the LT's-, and 1 over par result, (my handicap is 6) They have to be the straightest, most forgiving and rewarding iron out there. Have had plenty in the past couple of yrs and none come near these beauties. Custom ordered them with Rifle 5's and 2 deg up. Had to wait a few weeks but was certainly worth it. Distance is right on the money, have picked up about 1/2 club allround. Overall can't be more pleased, have the 200 series 2wd and 5wd as well. Taylor Made have really picked up their game re equipment in last yr. If in the market, put these on your list. Customer Service Got reply to an email within 24hrs, very impressive. Taylor Made RAC LT
I have tested out many clubs along the way to finding these. I was almost fitted for some Taylor Made 320's last season, but decided to wait and see what this years market had to offer. Boy am I glad I did. The Rac LT's are AWESOME. I'm hitting about a half club longer then my DCI's that I had and the forgiveness in the lower Irons is GREAT. I think this is a club that could be used by beginer golfers, but is more designed for the low handicaper. I typically shoot in the high 70's to low 80's and with the extra distance and forgiveness I'm hoping to stay in the 70's all summer. If you are on the fence about these clubs don't be. Go out and buy them as fast as you can because they will make a difference in your game. Similar Products Used: Titleist DCI, Calloway X-16 pro, Ping i3 + |

RAC-LTs
I shoot in the low 80s and have done for some time. Purchased a set of Cleveland TA3s a year a go in order to try and bring the handicap down. Didn't work at all. PW through 7-iron were OK, but 6-iron and above, lost all feel and forgiveness and lost confidence as a result. Went to look elsewhere trying some Mizuno MP30s and MX20s, also tried some 762s and Calloways. By far the smoothest and sweetest club i came across were the RAC-LTs. Much more forgiveness. Ball flight higher for more penetration, but not so high as you lose huge amounts of distance. Great feel and look (lie a blade, not much off-set at all). WoOuld recommend anyone who plays off 10 handicap (or thereabouts) to try these over a purer blade set. Highly recommended. |

Taylor Made Rac LT 6.0 Rifle
These are the best Irons i have ever used. Previously been using X-14 Pro Series, Head too heavy resulting lack of swing speed. They are also a great looking club at address with a look of a blade along with the feel of a forged club. Distances are up on all previous sets ive owned. The 6.0 Rifle shaft is perfect for my swing speed (90 mph) 7 Iron. They are i believe made from a soft cast which concerned me at first, in case they were to mark easily but ive found them to be fairly resilient so far. I hope these clubs stay in my bag for some time but like everyone else i am always looking for that elusive set of irons, these are the best for now though. If you are a middle to low handicap you should consider these sticks. Customer Service Dont know never had to use it with Taylor Made. RAC LT
These are the other irons that I've compared the RAC LT to: Titleist 762: Plays more like a blade, with deep cavity feel when struck in the middle, and little offset. PING I3+ Blade: Plays like a blade with deep cavity feel when well hit, and little offset. Cleveland TA3's and Taylor Made 300: Both plays exactly like muscle back forged blades - not forgiving. Callaway X16 Pro Series: Reduced offset and very forgiving, but I don't like the looks. Cleveland TA7 and TA7 Tour: Plays very similar to the X-16's Pro Series and RAC LT. The top line is still a bit thick for me. Would have been my second choice. Finally RAC LT: Little offset for workability, cavity back provides forgiving like TA7's and X-16's. Looks great at address, thin top line like PING I3+ Blade and Titleist 762. Conclusion: RAC LT is the ideal club in between all of the above. It actually reminds me a lot of the former TM320. This is clearly my 1st choice. |
