When I switched from my Cobra undercut design i noticed a big difference. I gained at least 10 yards on each club. These irons are handsdown the best deal around. I got mine new with 6.0 Taylormade rifle shafts. This club looks so pretty at adress. When you hit this club well it feels just like a blade while giving you the feel of a cavity back.

These irons are terrific. I used X-14s for several years and they were wonderful but as I improved these irons are no comparison. The feel very crisp on contact and are easy to swing. They set-up nicely and are surprisingly forgiving. I can work the ball much easier than the X-14s and my control is vastly better. I have a natural high ball flight so the lower flight of the LTs may not be as prominent with my swing. The distances are very consistent with these clubs. I have had them a short time and I already have hit some of my nicest iron shots ever with them. My opinion is 100% positive for these babies.

Model Reviewed: TaylorMade LT stock steel shaft

I have been playing with a set of Titleist 822OS for years and decided my game might be up to some less forgiving clubs to allow me a bit better control. My Titleists have Aldila gold graphite shafts and were custom fitted. They are very long, always forgiving and I am sure they enabled my 90 to 100+ type swing the ability to shoot in the 80s. The inability to control distance and shape shots sent me shopping as I got better. The TM LTs have also been fitted but with steel and this is what my limited experience and abilities can provide to this forum in no particular order: • The LTs are much shorter, but the distance is consistent. The Titliest/graphite could vary by as much as 15 yards on a solid stroke. Think I lose 10 yards per club on average with the LTs. • A slight miss on the TM feels like a broken bat in my hands compared to the feeling on the former, but the distance loss is minimal and they are actually forgiving as far as direction is concerned. • The LTs look great at address, builds confidence • The LTs look great in the bag • A truly bad swing will produce shots that create an actionable ball spin that can only be described as incredible. Make no mistake – my normal foursome makes note of these and the comments made are not suitable for this forum. This was offset a bit by the former clubs, it was still a bad shot but not so impressive as to become a topic at the 19th. • A truly great swing is rewarded with a ball flight that is consistent and workable, wish I had more of those • Outstanding from the rough, after playing the OS feels like every club in the bag is a wedge • Don’t notice a lower trajectory, but I do have an abbreviated swing that would tend to keep the ball down • A good shot working the ball to the left or right is a bit easier but not as much so that I feel I have much better control – refer to the truly bad swing bullet. I can move the ball better with these clubs but only minimally. I attribute that to my ability and not the clubs. In short, not sure I will keep these clubs in my bag. I can score ok with the Titliest, can work the ball a bit better with the TMs. Hit the ball further with the Titliest, but can control the distance with the TMs. Point and shoot golf is by far easier with the Titliest, but the TMs are new to me. For now I will continue to practice and play with the TMs but when money and bragging rights are on the line I will probably go back to the old reliable Titliests.

Shoots in the 80s

I bought my Taylor Made RAC LT's in April and my game has vastly improved with them. This is the first set of irons I have purchased in over 10 years. I have never been able to work the ball before, mainly because of the outdated clubs I was hitting before. These irons and surprisingly workable and now I have some idea of how the big boys work their shots. There is some fine tuning to be done though. I do have one gripe and this happened to me last night. While on my downswing with my 8 iron the club basically crumbled in my hands. I snapped the club in half between my hands which led to a pretty nice slice in the palm of my right hand. No worries though, my shot ended up pin high in the sand and I got up and down for par while bleeding all over my clubs. Thankfully this happened on #17 and I finished with a par on 18. I am wondering if anyone else has had problems with these clubs and their durability. I am guessing this may have just been a flaw in this one club but I am interested to hear if anyone else has had any problems.

Model Reviewed: Taylor-Made RAC LT 1

I have now played with the LT 1's about 6 months and I love them. I have been playing over-sized clubs and wanted to get more of a feel and be able to work the ball a little more in the 7 thru PW, but not totally sacrifice the forgiveness of a cavity back. Well the LT 1's have been the answer. I have made it to the 70's a couple of times, but more importantly I really have a feel for the ball off the face of the club. I have tried the new LT 2's,and am not impressed with the so-called improvements. The LT was orginally made for the intermediate to advance player. Why go to a big off-set and more cavity-weighted feel on a club if it's for the lower handicap players. I know that I mis-hit a few balls, but I want to be able to feel it and know I need to make a corrections. That's why I left the over-sized clubs behind. But here is what I want to say. The LT 1's have been an awsome set of irons for me and I am sure I will play them a long time.

Model Reviewed: TM RAC LT (3-PW Rifle 5.0 shafts)

Purchased a set of the RAC LT's a couple of months ago. They are much lighter than my previous PING E2 irons. Although I have a quick swing tempo I opted for a regular flex shaft (5.0 RIFLE) which I have found more forgiving than a stiffer shaft. I have lost a couple of metres per club but have gained excellent distance control which I was lacking. These clubs are a great compromise for those players who want the playability of a forged blade but prefer the forgiveness of a cavity back. They play quite soft and are easy to work both right and left. Perhaps the only critism is that they are little difficult to escape effectively from the rough. If you are looking to take your game to the next level then these babies wont disappoint.

Model Reviewed: TaylorMade RAC LT Irons S300 Dynamic Gold

Recently I demoed the latest Taylormade LT II irons, but strangely I didn't get on as well with these as the original LT's, so I shelled out on these beauties at 150 less. I'm really glad I did. Taylormade have produced a truly magnificient set of irons. Initially I was looking for a set of irons that produced a low trajectory, due to distance loss from high trajectory. These irons deliver not only the low trajectory, but superb accuracy. The clubs at address inspire confidence, they sit beautifully on the grass and the topline looks almost blade like. Over the last few rounds I've noticed a gain in distance, roughly 1 to 1 1/2 club extra distance over my previous irons (Wilson Fat Shafts). Not only this but even off-centre shots travel good distance. Excellence indeed. I'd highly recommended these irons to any mid to low handicapper. The original LT's are being phased out, so now is the time to grab a outstanding bargain...

Model Reviewed: RAC LT 2004 Steel Shaft

Bought this Irons in Early Autumn, and early on I experienced some trouble adapting to them. I previously used Mizuno comp easy ct,and while definitely the RAC LT are more forgiving, I had the impression that i had lost some distance. However, past the initial period, this proved to be false. The RAC LT are definitely more forgiving, and easier on the wrists if, like me, you spend a lot of time on the range. Whilst feedback from the hit is there, the Mizuno irons gave an unpleasant vibration on offcenter hits that is not there in the RAC LT's case. Distance has not suffered, and while the LT's are sold as "Low Trajectory", as opposed to the HT "High Trajectory" offering, I've had no problem in having short iron shots drop and stop. Steel shafts are cheaper, and better for my swing speed, but I must admit that I haven't tried the graphite shafts. I'd definitely recommend the RAC LT for the mid-handicapper like me, that is too timid to go for blades, and doesn't see the point in doing so either. Good grips, and good feel.
