The LCG irons with steel Rifle stiff shafts feel solid even on mis-hit shots. My distance lengthened 8-10 yds per club over previous clubs (First Flight). Overall, clubs provide a confidence factor that results in better shots, more often. Better than the DCIs.

Model Reviewed: LCG - Rifle Steel - stiff

Loved these clubs at first - they are pretty easy to hit. I switched from graphite shafts and lost about 5 yards per club. After a few weeks, gained the distance back, as well as a little extra (don't ask me). The short irons in this set are great - easy to hit, nice trajectory. I find the mid & long irons less forgiving than any other set I've tried. I've had them for almost a year and my game has improved dramatically in this time - but I chalk it up to a lot of practice - not any club, so I'm hesitant to rave about these clubs. For the money, I think you can do better. I'll probably be shopping around again within 6 months. The whole LCG claim seems to be bogus to me - there's nothing different at all.

Excellent clubs for the money. Added 10 yards to every clubs. Forgiving. Let the club do the work.

Model Reviewed: Taylor Made LCG Rifle S-90

I recently acquired a set of Taylor Made LCG Burners with the Rifle S-90 shaft. After an initial break-in period, I must say that these compare favorably with the set of Ping Eye 2+ with KT shaft. While the overall weight of the club head is slightly heavier than the Ping Eye 2+, I have found that this translates into approximately 1/2 club longer distances in the 6-9 irons, and nearly a club longer on the 3-5 irons. The height of the shots are similar. I get more solid impact and feedback than the Pings on well-hit shots. I'm still getting used to the playability of the clubs around the green. After having the Pings for many years, I knew what to expect from each iron. I'm still learning with the LCGs. My game has not suffered, but I'm trying to get more out of these clubs. I found that changing from a Titleist Tour Distance 90 to a Titleist HP Tour 90 gives a somewhat more rewarding fairway shot. There are some tradeoffs around the green though. Given some time, I think I will like these clubs. I don't see much difference in the characteristics of this club as compared to the TM Firesoles.

Customer Service

I telephoned Taylor Made Customer Service to obtain information about the characteristics of the R-80 and S-90 Rifle golf shafts. I wanted to compare the flex point and torque degree against what I was currently playing. The Customer Service personnel were courteous and knowledgeable.

I'm on the high school varsity girls golf team and I am receiving the Taylor Made LCG Ladies golf clubs as a Christmas present. When I went to try them out, they are the best clubs I've ever swung. They are so forgiving. I really wish they weren't discontinuing this product because I think every female golfer should own this set of clubs.
