Ok, this is my 3rd season with the S59's, and my second set, so I know a little bit about them. My first set was used and had Rifle shafts. I liked them quite a bit, but always found the ball flight to be a bit low for my liking. At the end of last year, I ordered a new set of S59's (it's cool that Ping still offers their classic models) 4-PW with the Ping CS Lite shaft. I absolutely love the feel more so than ever and my ball flight has returned to a mid-high ball flight. Distance control is phenomenal and I really like the traditional lofts. They are not the softest clubs around, but players using these clubs should be hitting the sweet spot the majority of the time. I can't fault the clubs. They look great and perform to the highest standards. I feel they are some of Ping's best irons to date and because they are cast, this set will last me for a loooong time.

I played Ping ISI-K's prior to these. I liked the feel of the MB wedges, and these are pretty consistent with that. Lighter swing weight helps crack the head through impact. About a club longer than the ISI's were, and more accurate. I was happy with the forgiveness the S59's, as I was expecting more of a true blade type performance. They helped me drop 5 or 6 strokes a game, and I finally got a hole in one with them. If you can hit them square, they are VERY accurate. I would say most clubs would be the same, but the old ISI's didn't perform quite like these. With anything in golf, expect to pay for them.

I swithced to these irons last October from my Callaway X-16 Pro Series. I had played Ping irons most of my life and was a bit apprehensive in going to a blade style iron. From the minute that I put these in my bag my ballstriking had become more consistent and my distance control was exceptional. I ended up getting fit for the lighter Z-Z65 shafts (had always played S300)despite being a stronger player and the setup has worked well. If you are looking for a great set that allows you to control ball flight and distance give these a look. I am sure glad that I did.

OK first off let me start off by saying that I never knew I could hit a ball so high and so far EVER! The Ping S59's are an amazing upgrade over my beginner Nike CPR2's. It took a little while to get used the 59's but the last 2 rounds I have played I have shot 89 and 84. This is about a 5-10 stroke difference over my average. The amazing thing is the distance I get now. I go as far with a 7i Ping S59 as I did with a Nike CPR2 5i. Now like I said before it takes some getting used to and I still shank the cr*p out of the ball from time to time... But damn I love these clubs. I am sure there are more forgiving clubs out there but there is just something about hitting these clubs pure. When I die I want PING painted on my casket LOL

Okay, I slammed these clubs last year, but now I have changed my opinion. I played zz65 shafts in them last year. I liked the lower, boring trajectory; however, I could not feel the club head and they just felt too light. I think Ping's stock equipment is generally aimed toward the average swinger. I am not a huge hitter by any means, but I could swing a driver close to 105mph. Anyways, I now have a set of these with S-300 shafts and a d-2 swingweight. I love them now. I get the same low trajectory with the s-300, but the shaft is about 20grams heavier. The head is heavier and now at d-2. The distance is excellent, much better with the heavier set up. They are very forgiving for being a (sort of) blade, and they are laser accurate. I could hit 5 balls in a row within 5 feet of each other, if that is not consistant, nothing is. So like everything else, shafts make the difference. If you are a stronger player, you will probably need a shaft upgrade.

Great price on ebay $400 for basically brand new clubs, with the shaft upgrade.

They are the best.

The best set of irons I have used. S flex lite shafts with Cushin inserts. Head weight and overall weight is lighter than many blade designs, but I have found the swing feel and balance to be excellent. Easy to get good clubhead speed without forcing. About one club longer than my older forged blades and easy to hit straight. Quite low ball flight, but good shape and strong trajectory. In combination with Taylormade TP Red ball I am playing better than ever. Superb feel with good contact helps with feedback and motivation to hit more of those good feeling shots. Reasonable tolerance to off centre shots, particularly thinned shots, but plenty to encourage you to get the ball on the centre of the face. Really good irons for the better player and easier to use than most blade style irons.

Picked these up off Ebay for around $400 U.S. First things first get fitted with with any of todays new clubs. So many different swings can cost U alot of $$$. Played a few rounds close to the end of the season with these beauties. Getting fitted over the winter. The rounds that I did play were better than I ever would have expected. Irons have excellent weight. Far better than the Callaway's that I used to hit (96 & 04 mods). Oversize isn't always the best!! Demo as many as U can. I hit a buddies I3's and loved the weight and feel that U get from both sets. Being 6'3" stiff shafts are the way to go, and as mentioned fitting is a must. The irons are excellent at instilling confidence at address. Even for being a blade!! Not a big fan of the stock grips, found them to be very hard. Miss hits are common and the feedback is excellent. Effortless feel when hit correctly. Miss hits they let U know but not to the point of rattling out of your hands. From the fairway or the rough the ball flight is excellent low and penetrating to say the least. Nailed a par 5 in 2 with driver 3 iron. Long irons are not difficult to hit. Your confidence has to be there in order to make good and any long iron. Bought a hybrid and have yet to use it yet for those long so called hard to hit long irons. Durability of these clubs is also very good nicking and scratching is minimal for a forged club. Definitly not for the first timer. Better suited for the mid-low handicapper. If your looking to better your game, give them a try. Most golf shops offer them as demos. Or better still hit a simulator for U canadian golfers EH!!!

Cheers,

I've been a blade player all my life. I like the smaller heads and I especially like the feel of the sole throughout my swing. I've has MP-33s, MP-30s, Cleveeland CG1, all are great clubs but I just could not get the face square and I lived with a slight cut. The S59s have a slightly different weighting and I'm hitting mine square as a can be most of the time. Being an exMizuno guy I appreciate the durability of the PINGs and I know these will be looking good for years. Off center hits don't sting and there is a definite miss hit feel, but distance is not killed. Good hit feel good, not like the MP-33s or CG1s, but I definitely know when I've flushed a shot.

Customer Service

PING is right up there with Cleveland in terms of service and speed.
