Ping I5 Irons

Ping I5 Irons

DESCRIPTION

The Ping i5 iron is a mid-size, stainless steel iron with reduced offset. The perimeter weighted iron shares many of the G5 iron features, including the larger, thinner Custom Tuning Port (CTP) for improved feel. The sole width and cavity size are created for forgiveness and playability. The lead edge and bounce angle are designed for a smoother, forgiving transition through the turf and from the rough.

Started out 6 years ago learning to play with Mizuno Sures. Great beginner irons but felt after shooting in the mid -upper 80's I could improve with better clubs.

Tried several brands of irons but decided on the Mizuno MP32's 2 years ago. Could hit them straight and the well struck shots felt great. However I did lose some distance. Figured I'd get better with time and gain the distance back - wrong. Could never get the full potential out of the clubs, and after 2 frustrating seasons of being back in the 90's, I decided to do it right this time.

Got fitted and tried several different makes and models of irons. Landed on the i5's and never looked back. Great irons. Accurate and alot longer than the Mizunos. Just enough offset to still try and work the ball yet be forgiving on the occasional mis-hit. Do yourself a favor and 1) don't try to hit irons that even the Pro's have a hard time hitting, and 2) get fitted and take their advice. You'll have alot more fun playing the game. I also liked the fact that I could buy an excellent quality product that is "American Made".

Customer Service

Never had to use them but did speak with Ping Fitters and they were very helpful.

After playing with TM bubble burner irons for 10 years, I thought it was time for a change. I went to a demo day at our local golf course and had just an absolutely wonderful experience. From the static fitting to the club hitting, I must have tried 6 different lie angles in two different sets of clubs. I was tired when I was done. I finally settled on the I-5 because of the trajectory and the softness of the irons. The ball seems to stay on the club just a fraction longer than anything I've tried. I paid the demo day special of $850 Cdn.
The anticipated day came. How's this for a shot in your first round with your new irons? A 7-iron from 155 yards in a fairway divot. The ball flew and stuck within 8 feet. I thought it was a fluke, until I did it again with an 8, 9 and a 6 iron later in the round. Say no more...
I am a PING man now...
Also recommended my brother and he bought a mixed set with G-5 and I-5.

I felt that i needed to move to the next level of my game and decided to trade in my Mizuno's for a set of Pings. I went along to have a fitting and the G5 was reccomended. I decided to have a second opinion and went to another fitting centre who stated that the G5 probably wasn't best for my game and suggested i try the Ping I5.
Wow, what a club! These irons are the best i have ever played with. The feel is superb, the spin is superb even on a distance ball! They are suprisingly quite forgiving on mis-hits. I have used them for 3 weeks now, and just won our monthly stableford by shooting a 78 off the white tees. My handicap has been cut immediately from 13.4 to 11.5. I fully expect to be playing off a single figure in the next few weeks, and it's all down to the Ping I5, and the Ping G5 3 and 5 woods. Don't waste any time, get yourself custom fitted, it's the only way to go for massive game improvement.

I recently decided it was time for new irons after playing with the old callaway s2h2 irons for a long period of time. I had been looking at the ping s58 and the ping i5s i got fitted and hit both well but went with the i5s for the extra foregivness. Ive been playing with the i5s now and love them. I feel i have more controll on my shots and around the green the ball really spins.

Just traded up from Ping Zing 2's to these i5's. Absolutely love the feel of these clubs from the rough, fairway and around the green. First round I chipped in from 30 feet with the i5 wedge and darn near did it 2 more times that day. Very precise feeling clubs with great responsiveness. I bought mine used and have been tested to prove that the lie angle and length are good. May look into an official ping sizing.

I played blades for years because of peer pressure. I always hit them well enough, but never felt inspired at address. I finally got smart and bought these. Unlike my blade-toting buddies, I like a thicker top line and a cavity. Makes me feel like I can smack it pure almost every time. These I5s are solid. Rock solid. After puring a dozen balls with these, you'll have a hard time going back to "player's irons." Nice job, Ping. These irons are your best yet!!!!

Customer Service

They fixed an iron for me once. Cost me $35 and had the club back in a week. I guess that's good.

I have never been particularly keen on Ping products in the past. I have always loved playing with blades and forged clubs, particularly Mizunos. In fact I still have a set of MP 60s and they rate as one of the sweetest feeling clubs I have used when my swing and my game are on.

After some recent spotty play with my irons, I decided to give Ping a try as I thought the added forgiveness would help me out. I demoed both the S58 and the i5 and both felt great. I got myself properly fitted (off the rack would never work for me since I ended up with -1/4" length but 2 degrees upright. I ended up ordering what i felt was the best of both worlds, S58 for 6-PW, and i5 for 3-5 irons for the added forgiveness and confidence at address when playing long irons. In a nutshell, these performed absolutely great. Very forgiving and the CSL (stiff) with Cushin inserts were perfect flex for me. flatter trajectory than my Mizunos and better distance control. Also easier to square the clubface for the longer irons (was leaking my longer irons to the right most of the time) without tweaking my swing. I am a convert. I am so happy with the performance that I have now ordered an i5 2-iron since I like hitting my 3 iron more than my hybrids (Taylor Dual, Titleist 585). My only complaint is that the grooves spin too much that they scuff my balls more than my Mizunos did. Great, great clubs. I wont be selling my Mizunos just because i love how they feel and look (and I got a local clubmaker to adjust their specs to be identical to the Pings), but I suspect that the Pings will be in my bag a lot more now.

Customer Service

Very responsive. My only complaint is that the clubs arrived at the wrong swingweight. I ordered D-2 and they all came at D-0. Being from Manila, Philippines, I would have had to wait another 5 weeks to get a replacement set (which they offered of course) so I agreed to have the authorized Ping repair center to alter the swingweights for me. Got the clubs after a day and have been delighted ever since.

I was a callaway man for 10 years. I demoed the i5's last fall and really liked them. I bought a set and I love the looks and feel of these clubs. I hit them straight with good distance. I like the thinner top line and sole more than the g5's. Setting up to the ball just gives me more confidence with these clubs.

These clubs are a perfect fit for me. I have shaved so many strokes off my game and im still improving. These irons are a perfect mix of forgivness and playability. there long and accurate. eveytime i set up to any iron shot, 100 yards, 150 yards, 200 yards and beyond, i feel confident. Any shot is in my capability and when i aim for my shot, I go flag hunting. If you feel like your beyond then beginner clubs like Slingshots, or G5 (both very good clubs by the way) but not exactly ready for forged blade clubs then get these. you will not be dissapointed.

Very knowledgeable people
