My years of ho'ing irons is now over. I have finally found a player's cavity that fits my game. I scored a full set of these on ebay (3-LW) in black dot which fits me. These irons offer plenty of forgiveness for a decent player. They have the best feel I've ever felt for cast irons. They are laser beams when you are swinging well, and offer forgiveness when you aren't. Can't ask for more than that. In fact my whole bag is PING now and I'm playing my best golf ever. The i/3's are as good as any new irons offered by PING. I love them.

Great set of clubs. I just recently started golfing about 4 months ago. Alot of people told me that these clubs are not as forgiving as some of the other clubs I could purchase for the same price, but they seem just fine to me. The distance I get from these clubs compared to my starter set are amazing. I recently hit my 7 iron nearly 200 yards and hit my 5 iron over 215.

Great set of irons! Now I know why people rave over Ping products.

Pros:
- Forgiveness
The set says "Blade" but they're really not blades. Thinner and less off-set cavity back set that offers good forgiveness. Offset is not too much, not too little for 10 and under handicap golfers such as myself. Mis-hits yield very good results.
- Distance
Wow, I actually was very surprised at the distance these irons generate. I'm about a club longer w/ these than my previous Maxfli Revolution Black set. It could be the draw flight (referring back to the off-set) that these irons generate.
- Trajectory
Very good trajectory. Scoring clubs are high and soft. Mid and long-irons produce desirable trajectory that are piercing.
- Std shaft
Standard Ping ZZ65 steel shafts are great. Some may complain the shafts are too light (approx 110g) but final built product yields easy-to-swing D1 swingweight.
- Accuracy
Accuracy really should be on the top of the "Pro" list. Good accuracy w/ this set. Not the Mizuno MP60 laser pinpoint, but not far from them either.
(Again, the draw flight needs to be controlled at first, but once got used to, accuracy improved greatly)

Cons:
- Lack of Feel
Well, the set is cast clubhead. Enough said. But, still enough feel to know toe-sweetspot-heel shot.
- Off-set/Draw flight
It just took me a few weeks to get used to the off-set. I've always played w/ minimum off-set and as with all Ping irons (except for S58/59), there's a lot more off-set factor.
- Chipping
Due to the lack of feel (or because I was spoiled w/ previous high-feel clubs) distance control is tough. I use many clubs for diff short game shots (hybrid, 8i, PW, 54*, 58*) and now I've went back to Sand and Lob irons. No big deal.

In summary, these irons have replaced my first love: Maxfli Revolution black.
I'm sorry to see the Maxflis go, but I'm hitting more GIRs and walking up to Par3s have become fun again!

I bought these irons off of ebay for a steal. I paid $200 for these brand new and it was the best investment i have ever made in the game of golf. I love the way they feel off of the face. The ball flight is spectacular and they are just as forgiving as any other cavity back irons of this type that I have tried. I love the way i can also work the ball also it was just such a huge difference in feel whenever I got these irons.

Great long irons. Short irons could do w a touch more offset. Medium traj, moderately long. Not as workable/not as much feel as traditional blades but mis-hits do go ok.

Ping I3 blades are the perfect compromise to a real forged blade and an slightly oversize cavity back. I have had some bad days with these clubs primarily because my swing at that time is out of sync. I'm not sure I buy into the whole if you are not a single digit handicapper don't use anything that resembles a blade; what did people do before the so called game improvement clubs. In any case if you are a good striker of the golf ball, and obviously can repeat your swing the I3's may prove to be a worthy selection. They are long, with mid to high ball flight, very workable, and produce the necessary feed back on mis hits, along with modest forgiveness. All that coupled with the Ping name, how can you go wrong, heck, even resale on these are pretty darn good.

I now understand what the big deal is about Ping irons. The Ping i3 blades (Blue dot, JZ Stiff Staffs) are absolutely the best irons I have ever played. After a year layoff from the game, I began playing again 4 months ago. With these irons, it feels like I never stopped. They are solid from top to bottom, and are by far, the longest irons I have ever hit. It really takes the pressure off the tee shot, because I feel like I can reach the green from any reasonable distance. I played in a captain's choice tournament recently, and on the first hole, a par 5, we faced a 240 yard slightly uphill second shot in. After several safe "layup" shots by my partners, I stepped up with a 3 iron and smoked it. It looked like I fired a rifle at the flag. We made the eagle putt to start the round. Every club in the set is a joy to hit. I can work the ball right or left, all I have to do is execute. I highly recommend this set of irons to anyone who is a decent ball stiker looking for a classic set of golf clubs.

Ok, These clubs have one great asset and one great drawback. The great asset is they are accurate cannon's. I was one club longer than my Mizuno MP-30's. The ball flight was on the low side, which I need, and I scored well with these through 2 rounds.
The great drawback is the feel. On pured shots they felt fine but anything else leaves you with a weird, dull thud that you have to feel for yourself to believe.

I am most likely spoiled by playing forged clubs but these had a terrible feel on mis-hits, almost like I caught a tree root at impact.

If you are not a forged player and can handle to smaller head size these are definitely the longest, accurate clubs you can buy. If you usually nail the sweet spot, pick these up. If not, I'd pass on these.

I Have been playing for about 5 years and last 2 years i almost always shot between 90-95 and occasionally hi 80's. The first three times i played with the i/3's i shot 84, 83, and 82 respectively. They are absolutely amazing clubs for me. I was always able to get the ball high with a slight fade. These clubs send the ball even higher, a bit further and for the most part straighter. I don't think they are as forgiving as the O-size but if you have a nice consistent swing i'd recomend the blades. If you have trouble getting the ball in the air give these a chance they are yet another great set of irons from Ping.

I am a 10 handicap, normally shooting 78 to 83. I have been using Callaway Great Big Tungsten Titanium for three years. For those three years, I could not get my game back to the 8 handicap I once held. I thought it was lack of playing, but recently discovered it was my clubs. Before the Callaway’s, I played ping Eye 2 irons and was really accurate. I cannot remember the reason I traded them. I recently bought some Ping i3 blade irons, black dot, with stiff cushion shafts. I am again able to hit laser straight shots, or draw and fade the ball as needed. The Callaway’s were a good iron, but they were so forgiving, I could bend the shot the way I wanted to, and set up was one dimensional. As most of the other posts indicate, the Ping i3 ball flight is a little low, but the spin rate makes up for that when approaching greens. I hit the ball about 5 – 10 yards longer with the irons too. The thin sole means you have less room for miss-hits, but the accuracy of the iron makes up for that. The Ping irons are heavy. They feel like lead bricks at times. It may be that my Callaway’s were so light too. I recommend these irons to anyone who is ready to closet those game improvement irons. I bought mine used and they seem to have some sort of staining or rust in the cavity portion of the heads. I don’t know if this is common to the ping irons or not, but they are in good shape.
