Ping i15 Irons

Ping i15 Irons

DESCRIPTION

In the design of the i15 iron, PING engineers focused on the better player who prefers an iron set that offers the control to play a variety of shots. Created as a progressive set, the longer irons are larger for more forgiveness. The mid- and short-irons are smaller to ensure workability and control on approach shots.

I have now owned these irons for over 5 months. Compared to my prevoius irons these are a quantum leap in quality and performance. They are probably the most consistent irons I have ever owned.

They feel surprisingly soft for a cast club but I will acknowledge that they are not softer than a good forged iron. They are slightly harsher than the Hogan FTX I used to own but much easier to hit.

This is my first set of Ping irons so I cannot compare these to any earlier models.

Visually they are very appealing at address with a moderately discreet top line. They certainly do not look bulky at address.

Ball flight is medium high. I am having some difficulty in playing really low shots (under tree branches for example) but I feel sure that it is my fault rather than the clubs.

In conclusion I am very satisfied with these irons and have seen my scores drop from high 80s and low 90s down to mid/low 80s. I have had three tournament successes in the last 4 weeks consistently shooting lower than my handicap. I will be keeping them for the foreseeable future.

Customer Service

I had an excellent custom fit session with my club pro who is a Ping trained fitter. Clubs were ordered on the Monday and arrived just over a week later.

Great club for good golfers who still need a little forgiveness. They have a harsher feel than a forged blade or even a TM r7 tp, but you pick up a lot of forgiveness on miss-hits. I'm hitting a lot more greens than before. Even with the forgiveness, they're still probably not a good fit for players above a 4 or 5 handicap. V grooves are fine and I can't tell any difference. Getting the right shaft is key.

Customer Service

Excellent - had some custom shaft specs and received them in less than 10 days.

These irons are mac daddy only. Do not use unless you can mac daddy some irons hardcore in all facets of golf. Case in point, John Daly is mac daddy playa these suckas right now. Solid as a rock, you must put your groove on to stick the rock tight to the pin to win all day you say. I macked them at Pebble the other day, and my 62 was one of my better scores I must say. Missed a few putts comin in, but the mac daddy pro took over and the 7 iron from 225 flew tight in the hole like you knew it would be.

I played my first full round of golf with my new Ping i15 Irons and I was very impressed.I dont know why the reviews are so bad but I found the Irons to be typical Ping quality.Of course I had some bad shots but that was to be expected with trying to dial in new equipment but I have owned ping i3 blades and others and I can honestly say these clubs are good. Please beware that shafts on some ping models change so you will get different results so please get fit by a professional and your game will be rewarded.I have played titleist 735cm and mizuno mp-52,32 and many others but I keep coming back to ping because I know what to expect, please post honest reviews and please know your eqipment before you post so others can get a true rating thank you.
p.s. to scratch when you win on the PGA tour than you can brag until then shut up.

Agree with previous poster, ping needs to get back to basics, if you want a great ping iron then look for any model between i3 & i5 with the exeption of i 10 .
I have the i3+ blade and it can't be beaten ! for me anyway, & the older models can be bought for a snip off ebay , and are way better.
I you need game improvers go for g2 with g2 hl in the long irons, if you can't hit them you cant hit nothin !!.

Sorry, these clubs are not for me. I find them harsh and inconsistent. Played approx. 10 rounds with them and they are waaaay overrated in my opinion. See list below for the irons I have owned over the years, and for me, nothing comes close to the TaylorMade 300 forged irons. They are like butter to hit.

I played 18 with my new set. Shot 2 under and missed only 4 greens. On two par threes I almost holded out. These play like blades from the 5 iron on down to the wedge. The long irons tower and are very consistent. I can work the ball high, low, fade, draw. These don't pop. They crack like a gun when you hit them right. The V groves work fine. Ping has a great product that will reward mostly the lower to mid handicap players. Just make sure you have the right shaft and get fitted by a professional. These aren't your Daddy's blades or the older Pings. These are modern clubs designed to perform.

Traded in my i5's irons for the i15's. Played two rounds with the new irons 79 and 82. Do not like them as much as the i5's. The regular shafts on the new i15's are much softer then the i5's regular shafts. They say they are the same shaft but I think something has changed.WIsh I had kept the i5's as a back up set.

These are outstanding sticks. the top line is a lttle thick, but other than that they are great. I am hitting them a longer than my previous irons, probably due to the stronger loft. The AWT shafts are ok at best, when time and/money premitt I will be changing to project X 6.0
