These irons are very sweet. Very forgiving and longer than any other irons I've tried(which is just about all of them). If you slice these irons with their offset and awesome forgivness you really should just quit the game because it isn't the irons. Customer Service Haven't used them. these irons are terrible, they are not worth the 700 dollars that they cost. never have i sliced an iron. the only good clubs that they had were the sand and lob wedges. i was better with my old crappy set, and when i tried out my friends taylormades i was world's better. i would forget about the G5's and get a taylormade or some older pings. |

WOW, WOW, AND WOW. These are awesome irons. I am a decent golfer that used to shoot pretty consistant scores sub 80, BC(before children). I finally swallowed my pride and realized that tour type irons are no longer working for me since I don't get to play as often. I have gone up to 84-88 in the past 5 years and decided to make a change last week. The feel and overall foregiveness of these irons is amazing. First time out, carded 42 on the front and was a bit concerned, but after getting used to the feel, I fired at 8/9 greens on the back and carded a 35!! I haven't shot 1 under par in 5 years! Simply awesome. Pay the money, you won't need another set unless you wear these out playing. I tried the Cobras, Calloways, and Cleveland, and these are by far, the most forgiving. Hey, I'm no Tom Wishon. But I do know too many golfers get hung up with ego and appearances and brand names when selecting golf equipment - I did it myself. After trying to play forged irons for years with moderate success, I finally realized that al that matters is how you score - not what it feels like when you flush a ball or how gorgeous the irons lok in your bag. So I went out and played absolutely every iron on the market today that was a game improvement or super game improvement design. And I ended up with the Ping G5s. They're ugly, but the engineering can't be beat. They're accurate, long and very forgiving. If you play to a sub-five handicap, well, you can play with about anything. For the rest of us, think Ping. They lack the sex appeal of the X-20's, the r7's and Mizuno's. All they do is hit the ball where you're pointing it and forgive all but the worst swing faults. I'm even giving up the Vokey wedges for Pings. Great irons!! I am a monster club junkie, and have owned or played most everything. I got a great deal off Ebay, and switched from a set of Zevo ZV-2 irons, which are a great set as well (very soft feel, like CG4's), but I like the G5's much better. More solid and consistent. They are white dot and plus 1", and hit a full club longer than the Zevos, which are pretty long as well. I usually hit a 8 iron 150ish, now 160ish... don't know if it the length or the lofts. VERY easy to hit solid, great trajectory, good feel, not as soft as the Zevos, but nice. These have a much heavier feel (swingweight?) than the previous Pings I have played, and that is great, as I thought most pings (Eye2, Zing, Zing2, i3) were great, but too darn light.. ISI's suck. My set is 4-LW, and they all are a joy to hit. Should be in the bag for a long time, but I have said that before!! I am getting tired of switching irons, tho, I do believe that a guy has to keep a set for many months to ge the full automatic thing going and really get in the groove. These are sweet irons, so maybe the search is over. Customer Service Ping is the best, Callaway close second. But who wants to play Callaway? Not me. Ping will change lie for free, nice to be in AZ. Upgraded from the ping eye2 square groves that I've played for the past 20 years. As soon as I hit a demo club I was sold. Purchased the black dot stiff shaft 4-SW for the normal $799.00. Took about 4 rounds to adjust to the light weight of the new clubs and I could not be happier. I picked up 8-10 yards on every iron, but that could be due to the age of my eye2's. The SW is magic and all the clubs really put the ball in the air with a solid boring flight. |

I just got some g5s custom cut- regular flex, maroon dot, standard length and cord grips. these irons have a nice offset, which inspires confidence. Great feel too, nice and soft but still responsive. Off-center hits are extremely forgiving, very straight and long enough. I prefer to hit straight balls, but I can hit a gentle fade or slight draw with the g5s on command. Center-struck shots are sweetness- penetrating flight and drop and stop (I made beat up range balls stop on a dime with the long irons) These are great clubs for the mid- to high-handicapper, as they're quite easy to get airborne. Better players should look into the i5s. Customer Service Received irons in mail 4 days after order Similar Products Used: TaylorMade RAC HT

These are some great irons. They inspire confidence at address, have a very nice non glare look and have terrific feel for a cast club. I was playing Mizuno MX-23 before, and my game has improved 3-4 strokes just by picking up the G5's.
Customer Service Haven't had to deal with them. Bought the clubs right off the shelf standard. Similar Products Used: Top Flite HCT, Mizuno MX-23 |

I played Eye 2's for 20 years exactly. ZZ Lite, stiff, 2 degress flat (orange dot) Got a new driver, 3 wood, so I figured I'd look at irons. I'm a PING guy. Tried the Rapture and G5. I turned 50 last year. The guy finally had me at Red dot (1% flat), CS Lite, regular steel. On the machine I gained 5 yards on the wedges and hit them string straight. Bought them and just cannot believe how straight they are. It is just about impossible to miss one. So light. Such a nice set up. Bought 4 - Gap and added the sand. Wish i had bought the gap years ago. Only downside was the big money, even for steel. Raptures were more money and i did not carry them as far. |
