With this irons, I hit the ball more consistently, but I lost 10 to 15 yards from previous irons, Taylor Made 200.
I used to hit 150yds with 8 iron, but with G2 irons, I only get 135yds out of it. I hit the ball naturally high, so extra loft in this clubs do not help me with distance.

I bought these irons about a year ago. They are no-nonsense clubs that do exactly what you want them to do: perform well shot after shot, round after round. They are as reliable as the Bank of England. When you hit a poor shot, you know that you are the one to blame (and maybe the weather, course conditions, playing partner, etc.) but certainly not these golf clubs.

I have them with stiff shafts (+ 0.5 inch) and an upright lie (marroon dot).

Highly recomendable clubs if you want to get rid of that nagging feeling: 'do I play with the right clubs?".

The only downside: they are difficult to play with at dry and hard courses (with a lot of tight lies).

Customer Service

I lost a wedge and got a new one with exactly the same specs, due to the registration system Ping uses.

I went from a set of Ping ISI-K irons to these, and I must say these clubs are wonderful. They took a little while to get used to, but these are the longest clubs I've ever hit. I've dropped a club from my last set with these irons now that my distance is so good. My 150yd club is the 8 iron, and i can get about 185-190 with the 5 iron. The ball flight is lower than what I had, however it is very forgiving on mis-hits, and my scores have improved by 10 strokes or so due to the fact that I can stay around the greens now. Wonderful clubs. I love them.

Customer Service

Very good, I called ping to verify some shaft questions and they were very helpful.

I Purchased the Ping G2 Irons about 2 seasons ago. I went and got fitted at the Local golf shop (Baltimore Washington Golf) to make sure they were just right. I had tried out several sets but take it from me No irons feel quite like these do when you hit the sweet spot. It's the most buttery smooth feeling I've came across in years. I'm only 19 but have been golfing my whole life and am getting pretty close to being a scratch golfer and i can honestly say these Irons have made my game a lot better. The best Iron by far in this particular ping set is without a doubt the PW. It is unbelievable how great it feels to hit this club good. Now if your thinking about getting a new set of irons then maybe these aren't for you but i HIGHLY suggest at least demo them. The Best Irons I Have Ever Came Across, No question!

Finally, have 20 years of using 'hand me down' clubs from my 5'8" uncle, I decided to embark on getting a set of clubs. It was quite easy. I went to Golf galaxy, saw the Pings, tried them, and the pro said they were for me. They were a Red Dot, with a 3" plug, so, I had them cut down to +1 (I am 6"4") and sent to Ping in AZ so the lie could be adjusted. After about 6-8 months of using them, I am now seeing that I am 15 yards longer, and , straigter. It takes a while to get used to them. You might find that you can only hit 150 yards with every club (my buddy as the I5's) and had the same issue). Once you tweek your swing and find the groove, you'll love them. Not as soft as the Mizuno MP series, but, pretty damn close. Off center hits still go center, have a good feel, and a classic look. I had trouble because I was used to hitting graphite, and hit my 9 150, and was disgusted that I couldn't hit these that far. But, after practice and getting used to...I am happy with hitting an 8 150-156. Good clubs.

Customer Service

If you know your ball flight, and your swing tendencies, you can go online and figure our your 'color', send the clubs to ping, and they will adjust them for free. Took about 2 weeks.

Model Reviewed: Ping G2 HL 3-5, 6-PW black steel

What a stick! I have tried them all, and the G2 is better by far than the G5 and improves on the venerable Ping Eye 2. This is a cleaner and more forgiving version of the dignified (albeit outdated) forerunner Eye 2 model.

While the G5 did replicate characteristics of bottom weighting found in the HL's, I find the G2 much better in that there is even more bottom weighting where you need it (3-5) and that same advantage is not so important in the short irons. I kill the 6 iron, landing shots on greens like a butterfly with sore feet. Methinks therefore I do not need HL characteristics in the 6-PW.

Moreover, I believe that Ping saw the profit center that hybrids brought in the marketplace, and hence quickly went to the G5's. In a manuever that was reminiscent of how companies saw the gap wedge as an additional sale, Ping wised up and realized that they were selling hacks like me a bag of hybirds for no more cash outlay than the normal 8 iron purchase.

I recommend fitting for sure, as this free option is value-added to Ping equipment. No one beats their technology either, and I like steel over graphite but recommend the added Cushin insert, replicating the shock absorption of graphite in what is a fantastic CS-Lite Steel R shaft. The Cushin stiffens that R up just right, and makes this club play with a very solid feel.

I recommend getting different wedges such as Ping Tour Black Nickel or chrome, or go find some surgical forged offerings by other manufacturers to go with the G2's. But the G2 PW is a keeper, a real money club. The balance of forgiveness and precision will make for a great iron game...I am on my way to the 80's at long last; thanks to Ping and the G2.

Customer Service

I have dealt with them a bunch, and they are best-in-class. Seriouslly, whether you want to chat about your set by calling in the serial number at 800-KARSTEN or get adjustments, which they are built for such tweaks, Ping sets the standard!

Model Reviewed: Ping G2 JZ-65 Steel Stiff

First of all, I will say this about Ping Irons. They are consistent which is more than you can say about other irons. This particular model (G2) is about the best Ping Irons I've came across and I've played with literally over 100 sets of Irons in my days just demoing them.

Personally, I purchased a set of irons that included the 5I thru LW. 9 Irons total and I couldn't be happier with them. I usually bounce around between sets of irons regularly but these have stayed in my bag for an entire golf season and will probably last through this one as well which is a major accomplishment.

Now onto how the Irons play:
All of my Irons are equipped with Ping JZ-65 Stiff Steel Shafts and are Blue Dot with standard Loft.

The 5 Iron is very easy to hit. Just a tad of an offset which makes it easier to square to ball on your downswing. I consistently carry my 5 Iron around 195-205 yards.

The 6 Iron is also easy to hit. Hardly any noticeable offset in this club but still easy to hit for a mid-iron. I usually hit my 6 Iron around 180-185 yards.

The 7 Iron is probably the second best Iron in my set. Very nice trajectory and plenty of bite on the greens from 165 and in. I can easily work this iron and hit a nice knock down or step it up and hit a nice high draw into the green. I usually mark the 7 Iron of every set as the benchmark. The G2 7 Iron is one of the best if not the best I've played with. Its consistency, forgiveness and playability make you a better golfer.

To be honest, I don't hit my 8 Iron much in rounds but I'm consistent with it on the range. I would rather hit a knock down or 3/4 shot with my 7 Iron.

The 9 Iron is another nice addition to the set but I would rank it as the worst Iron in my set as well. I've hit some ballooners with this club as well as some fatties which only happens with this iron for some reason. I generally don't hit it much on the course as I would rather amp my PW than hit my 9I.

The PW is the best iron in this set hands down, at least for me. I am deadly from 120 and in with my PW. You can do it all with this club. High, soft landings to low darts to fades to draws. I can amp my PW and hit it consistently between 135-140, but prefer to swing smooth and get 120 or so. I even chip with my PW at times and I've always used a 60* wedge around the green but I can get a good bite or check-up with my PW. If you play at a course that's Driver-Wedge on several holes, you'll have a hard time finding a better PW than this one, trust me, I would know.

The 52* UW or Gap Wedge is a nice addition to the set. It doesn't hit those nice high shots like the PW, but its still consistent.

The 56* SW is also consistent with a nice high ball flight and plenty of spin around the greens.

The 60* LW is great from 50 or so in and around the greens. I can hit a flop or push my hands forward and hit a hard check-up with this iron and feel comfortable doing either. Probably the 3rd best Iron in the set in my opinion.

There you have it, my review of the Ping G2 Iron set. I would recommend going to Ping's website and getting a static fit to make sure your purchasing the right set of Ping's, but you'll be hard pressed to find a better set than this one. The G2's easily beat out the S59's and the G5's for me. All were consistent, but the G2's gave me more forgiveness when I needed it. I went from a 8.5 handicap to a 4.5 handicap with these Irons.

I got these irons about 3 years ago. I did it right and got fitted at a Ping demo day. Let me say its worth the time. After I played a few rounds I could really tell the difference, I dropped a few strokes almost immediatly. My confedince is now up and I am even able to start some small shot shapping.

Customer Service

Bar none the best. Had to wait an extra week to get clubs because Ping was not happy with the way my set was made, so they remade them.

Played with g2 off and on for about 2 years. Very solid. Easy to hit. Trajectory is a little high on short irons. Good on mid and long irons. Offset is too much unless you're fighting a slice. Clubs have too much bounce for chipping around the green or off of close lies.

I just recieved my G2's in the mail and could not wait to get to the course. I played with my brothers and they could not believe the ball flight I was getting with the irons. The ball just gets up in the air and travels. I also recieved a 5HL. I was a little skeptical when people said it hits just like a hybrid. However they were not lying. The HL clubs are unbelievable. I recommend these clubs to anyone expecially if you have trouble getting the ball in the air. I think I am ping for life.
