I had a set of old forged Wilson Staff that were quite demanding but with a soft spinning ball gave me more 'incredible' shots than my compadres ever made with their Pings. The Tzoid pros are a great compromise. I can still use my sophisticated swing to work the ball, but I don't have to hit two buckets a week to stay sharp. I use a soft ball and play layup strategy to great effect because I can put medium irons close to the hole.

I found these Mizuno T-Zoid Pro's while browsing a AMVET thrift store. The cost was $15.60 for the set, before taxes. My Mizunos have the "U" on the sole of the blades indicating that these T-Zoid Pro's are two degree's upright. The flex is stiff and the grips were the original Mizuno grips. Initially I struggled with these clubs as the trajectory is lower than regular lie clubs and the grips were dry and hard but after putting on new grips and spending time at the range I have come to love these Mizuno's. The ball flight is like that of a dart when struck true not to mention the buttery feel. These aren't the most forgiving clubs and as a result I have become a better golfer. When I play with friends I find that I can out distance them and thier cavity backs.

Model Reviewed: Mizuno T-zoid Pro - forged

I had a set of Ping ISI's for about 7 years and had shot as low as 78 twice (about 4 years ago). In the last couple years I had been pretty consistiently in the mid to high 80's, flirting with the 70's every one in a while.

Well, my Pings were stolen out of my truck and I found myself in the market for new sticks. I tried a great many and found I liked the forged feel best. I bought my set of Mizuno's on E-bay for $100 and thought if I don't like them, what the heck, it's only $100.

I took them to the range the day they were delivered and for the first 60 balls, I hated them. Clunky and short... Then I found my groove and I was hitting ever shot pure. I was in love.

The next morning I went out and shot a 78, tying my all time best. I played 9 holes a few days later and shot 39. My iron play is much better than it has ever been. I hope it's not just the "honeymoon" period, but I can't wait for this Saturday's round coming up.

I love them.

T-Zoid is Mizuno's first cut muscle design. Timeless forged technology from a 100 yr old clubmaker. Tour quality Irons, so geared more for the low handicapper. Not as forgiving to a mid range 13-18 handicap but will definitely help you fine tune your ball striking, shot shaping, etc if you work with them. High handi will struggle with these irons...try the Comp EZ instead. Same technology, larger sweet spot/more forgiving. True Temper Dynalite Gold-R300 shafts are perfect with a little more flex then the Rifle 6.5. Another advantage for the mid handi. You should definitely re-grip a used set..Stock Mizuno grips are low grade. You will definitely notice improved grip and ball striking with Winns, Lamkin or Golf Pride upgrade.

Played with irons from most major manufacturers. Ping Eye 2 player for 10+ years, Titleist DCI's for several years, then the Pros. As I wore down the set after 6+ years, I started searching...more Pings, Titleists, Hogans, MacGregors, and Callaways. I kept going back to the Pros. Bottom line is Mizuno's materials and design are the best in the business for my game. I'm now locked into another set of Pros for these reasons: look and setup, feel, trajectory and distance control. No other clubs have provided the consistency that these have. Consistency that gives me confidence that my next round will be a personal best. If you are in the market, give the Pros a look. Although out of production, you can find nearly new sets on the internet for $100-$150.

These clubs are the greatest. I have played them for 5 years now with a feel that is perfect which allows me to control my shots to near perfection. If there is a better club, it's a well kept secret. They look great and perform beautifully.

Great clubs. Distance control is perfect. Great trajectory. These clubs are wonderful because I can work the ball like a blade and they have the forgiveness of a cavity back set. I'm keepin these bad boys for a while.

Always loved the look and set-up of forged clubs, especially Mizunos, but because I'm an 18 index, never thought I was good enough. I bought a used set of these from a higher handicap player. I've had many sets of irons, but these are incredible. Very easy to hit and the trajectory is perfect.

This is my third year playing these irons and I absolutely love them. I hit them well when I first bought them but every year the irons seem to feel better. The only change I made was to a Winn Grip other wise the clubs came ready to work. If you really want to take a step up from a ovesized cavity back try and find a set of these irons.

These clubs are sweet. The first set of Pro's that I got were well used but had deep grooves and still provide great feel. I even noticed an improved touch around the green with the PW. They are easy to hit and more workable than my Ping ISI's, my Goldwin AVDP's and my Cleveland Quadpros. I was using unlabeled regular shafts and found I could draw the ball very nicely on command, something I could not do easily with my other iron sets. Unfortunately, I bought another set of Pro's in great condition recently that have too stiff a shaft for me (Rifle lite 6.0 shafts). Although I could hit them with a harder swing and faster hip turn, if I played a round with these clubs my back would be aching for days. The heads themselves have the same sweet feel when solid contact is made. They will be on ebay very soon, and will make the more powerful player very happy.
