Mizuno MP-57 Irons

Mizuno MP-57 Irons

DESCRIPTION

The New MP-57TM irons are a crowning achievement in the evolution of MIZUNO's award-winning Grain Flow Forging® and Cut MuscleTM technologies. The Product Development team undertook the task of making the MP-57's the first MP iron with a Full Cavity, resulting in a significantly larger sweet area than any other iron in the history of the MP line. Along with increased forgiveness, the MP-57's produce a slightly higher ball flight in the long irons, and a mid trajectory in the scoring irons. They also deliver the solid feel and shot making ability that the MP iron player craves. Most importantly, the MP-57's achieve all these playing aspects, yet in a classic head profile that appeals to better players.

The ideal combination of solid feel and workability, with unbelievable forgiveness, make the MP-57s the most playable MP irons ever.

Features

* First ever Full Cavity MP iron for increased forgiveness with a reinforcing muscle pad for enhanced feel.
* Innovative Cut MuscleTM design provides ideal COG location, perfect trajectory, enhanced solid feel, and complete ball control.
* Exclusive Grain Flow Forged®, 1025E Pure Select mild carbon steel provides the ultimate soft, solid, consistent feel.
* Durable Double nickel chrome plated finish.
* Modified U-grooves produce the ideal spin rate, for maximum playability in all conditions.

One word WOW!!! these clubs are awesome. Have added 10-15 yards in length and accuracy is better than anything i have ever had. Forgiveness was suprisingly good. No other company makes a product as good as Mizuno. Taylormade, Ping, Nike etc can pump as much money into marketing and get all the best players to use their product but if you go into a golf store and try all the big brands you will be leaving with mizuno. they are just that damn good. Don't just take my word. Try them you wont regret it.

Replaced my MX-23's with the MP-57's and what a difference in feel when you hit the ball correctly! Swing these smooth and slow and the ball jumps off the face, no need to try to overpower this iron, they will make your tempo better and the feedback is excellent. Your normal bad shots go off target with less spin, the ball seems to fly with less spin, which results in a longer flight. The clubs are very pretty in the bag and at address, nobody in the industry builds a club that has the beauty and engineering like Mizuno. I would say the closest club to this club would be the Callaway X-Forged, but they are just a hair not as forgiving. This club can be played by a 0-14 handicap player which is alot of players. It's just wonderful to hit! Try them out, you won't be disappointed.

Amazing clubs. Played the TM-RACMB irons and the Cobra Carbon CB irons this past year and these Mizuno's are 10 yards longer per club! Feel beats by far the RACs and are a little smoother than the CBs. But again, forgiveness, feel, and...distance are a fabulous combination. Knocked 5 strokes off my game immediately. Finally in the high 70s. I have finally found THE clubs! Thanks Mizuno!

Bought my first set of mizunos after playing ping eye2s as my beginner set and callaway x18 for about a year. Ive only been playing for about 3 years now. I bought my clubs at the local driving range with project x6.0 shafts. I absolutely love em. I found out that the callaway x18 uniflex were too light for me so my ball striking was very inconsistent. My mizuno mp57s are absolutely gorgeous and still forgiving. Im much more confident with these clubs when I set up. My balls consistently go the same distance with each iron and im finding the green much easier than before. I definitely recommend these to anyone.

See previous review..after a couple of back and forth emails, Mizuno USA tells me that they do not use the Golf Pride Mizuno M-21 56 round grip for men's clubs.

Model Reviewed: Mizuno MP-57 DG R300

As follow up to my previous review comment or question regarding the DG R300 grip size , I see a statement on the Mizuno Europe website that a 56 round M-21 grip is used on the .580 DG R300 irons, while the 58 round is used for all other or .600 shaft sizes for men's irons. Emailed Mizuno USA to ask if this 56 round M-21 grip is used with the .580 shaft for USA shipments--have not received a reply.

If the 56 round is used, then it appears that all the Mizuno irons in men's models would have grip sizes would be very near the same O/D, i.e. 58 round M-21 Mizuno grip on the .600 shaft and the 56 round M-21 round on the .580 shaft. Note this arrangement gives a very slightly larger or a more modern standard grip size without additional tape wraps.

From studying the DG R300 tapered iron shafts specs on the True Temper website and from observation, the butt O/D starts to taper down at 7" from the end for the DG R300 tapered irons shafts versus 8.5" for DG S300. Thus the right (R/H golfer)hand grip on the DG R300 gets "skinny" very quickly past this 7", especially for players with wide hands. The extra 1.5" butt length for the DG S300 is obvious upon inspection of the two side by side.

Finally, I could not find a 56 round grip in any regular model on the Golf Pride website? Thus regrip of the .580 shafts with regular G/P in round models would mandate 58 round with tape wraps to get to the Mizuno standard grip size. A 56 ribbed model is available from G/P.

Model Reviewed: Mizuno MP-57, DG R300

I have played the MP-60 in standard steel Dynamic Gold S300 for the past year. Selected the R300 shaft for my new MP-57 set due to age 62. Find the excellent and handsome MP-57 heads a bit more forgiving with a very nice ball feel off the face. Biggest surprise is how soft the DG R300 shaft is versus the same DG in S300. Have had a strong professional type swing and golf game for 40 years playing the S400 and earlier X100 iron shafts. Realized in the last few months that even the DG S300 had become too stiff and heavy.

Tried the Project X 5.5 and found it to be lighter, but still too stiff for my current needs.

Kept my MP-60 set and may experiment with other shafts in R flex. MP-60 model has been excellent with a timeless design and set-up to the ball that I like.

And, I was disappointed to find that True Temper has not gone to a more standard .600 butt size for the DG R300 shaft.(see the .600 for DG SL in R300 and .600 for Dynalite SL in R300) Without additional wraps, the .580 butt size for DG R300 gives the smaller or old "standard" sized grip versus the slightly larger and now more standard for Mizuno irons from installing 58 round grips on the .600 diameter shafts.

In closing, the shop owner said he had been to a dealer/rep meeting and all the current Mizuno iron models would be gone within 6 months. Even the MP-57? Don't see how?

Customer Service

Returned previous set of T-Zoid True irons to Mizuno Custom three times to get shafts lengths cut correctly. Entire set reshafted to Mizuno specs on third return (note this was 10 years ago).

Recent quality control for shaft lengths is much improved to near perfect.

I have played mp 30's for the last 4 years and have always liked how they performed. But I was feeling the itch and decided it was time. Got fitted for a set of mp57's and so far couldn't be happier. They have a much higher flight than the 30's but don't balloon. They are also easy to knock down when you need to. Forgiveness is excellent for this type of club. More offset than the 30's in the long irons but only marginally so. Anyone up to a 12 could comfortably play these clubs. Definately get fitted as I was surprised to be fit with upright lies.

Just received my Mizuno MP 57s. Had custom shafts fitted by Mizuno, Nippon NS Pro 950. This is my fourth set of Mizuno irons and they are everything they were promised to be. They look great, but play even better. On the short irons it seemed I was five yards longer than normal, but all of them were 'sweet' and responded beautifully to shaping shots. These are far and away the very best irons I have ever hit!

Customer Service

Outstanding. Efficient and quick.

Finally received my custom MP-57's. It took approximately 2 weeks on the button for them to be delivered, granted I had them customized with Rifle shafts, Mid-Size grip, 2 degree's flat and 2 degrees strong, -1/2 inch shaft length.

So far I've had 2 driving range sessions which were extremely impressive. I was not only impressed by how beautifully finished these clubs were but by they way I was able to shoot a 79 on my first outing with them. Normally I average between 82-86 on my rounds. One thing that was noticeably different was the lack of deflection when I didn't strike the ball in the sweet spot of the club. I could feel the mis-hits but once I looked up I found that distance only suffered by about 7-10 yards in both length or direction.

True to their statement, you can work the ball fairly easily with these irons and they give great feedback. Unlike the Taylormade R7 TP's that I had previously, these irons seemed to have better forgiveness as well as distance. Comparing my old irons with the same specifications (loft lie etc) the Taylormade's were clearly 10+ yards shorter against the Mizzies, however the 4 and 3 irons both seemed to only be about 5 yards longer than the Taylormade R7 TP's.

Either way I'm completely satisfied with the MP-57's they have an extremely solid feel at impact and it's almost as though the ball holds the face just a split second longer before it launches into a beautiful 'low-to-high' climb, personally I feel the thing that helped the most was the yardage consistency. I'd recommend getting the full fitting (launch monitor) etc at your local shop or asking to take them out on a demo round.
