Mizuno MP-57 Irons

Mizuno MP-57 Irons

DESCRIPTION

The New MP-57TM irons are a crowning achievement in the evolution of MIZUNO's award-winning Grain Flow Forging® and Cut MuscleTM technologies. The Product Development team undertook the task of making the MP-57's the first MP iron with a Full Cavity, resulting in a significantly larger sweet area than any other iron in the history of the MP line. Along with increased forgiveness, the MP-57's produce a slightly higher ball flight in the long irons, and a mid trajectory in the scoring irons. They also deliver the solid feel and shot making ability that the MP iron player craves. Most importantly, the MP-57's achieve all these playing aspects, yet in a classic head profile that appeals to better players.

The ideal combination of solid feel and workability, with unbelievable forgiveness, make the MP-57s the most playable MP irons ever.

Features

* First ever Full Cavity MP iron for increased forgiveness with a reinforcing muscle pad for enhanced feel.
* Innovative Cut MuscleTM design provides ideal COG location, perfect trajectory, enhanced solid feel, and complete ball control.
* Exclusive Grain Flow Forged®, 1025E Pure Select mild carbon steel provides the ultimate soft, solid, consistent feel.
* Durable Double nickel chrome plated finish.
* Modified U-grooves produce the ideal spin rate, for maximum playability in all conditions.

played all day with my mp 57's today. its about my 10th round. its so much fun and feels so good.... i keep shaking my head and telling my playing partner how good it feels. I'm an 80's player.... and i can honestly say these clubs have made me a better ball striker. Its slowed down my swing and made me have a good tempo, cause i want to hit it properly. And so i hit all my clubs with a smooth tempo... from driver to wedges... more fairways and more greens. and my scores are getting lower... These clubs have made me a better golfer, and made the game even more enjoyable. these clubs are one of the best investments i've ever made... cost/fun ratio.... i don't see how mizuno could improve on these....

These clubs will shave serious strokes off an 80's player. I have been playing ping eye 2's from the 80's and couldn't be more impressed with the feel and look of these clubs. Can work them left and right. High trajectory makes for soft landing on the green. Some of the reviews say must be a 0-9 HCP or up to 12-13. I would recommend these clubs for players into the 15-17 range who play irons well but are errant off the tee.

Got my MP 57's projec X 5.5 stiff shafts today and almost run off to the drivingrange to try them out. WOW these baby's perform, I'm well aware it's the person who performs but with this in your hands...I'm not the typical player you expect with a Mizuno MP club in his hands. Hcp 25.8 but still counting down, playing now for about 2,5 years of which one almost non because of injury's. So with this in mind and a short experience with a democlub I bought me these really nice looking clubs. My R7's look beautiful but compared with the MP 57 they look plumb and large. The first 80 balls I hit (didn't have more time) were just GREAT! A perfect hit feels like a total mis hit, you feel absolutely nothing. Ballflight was high never hit is this high but strangely enough also with more distance than ever. Looking forward to see what happens on the course. Furthermore like to thank all who wrote a review on the MP 57, it really helped me out on my choice of clubs.

First I want to say that this is my opinion only and anyone purchasing golf clubs should be properly fitted. I have been playing golf for 4 years and have been using some 2004 Callaway Big Bertha's to this point.

I have recently been taking lessons and decided it was time to buy some irons I can grow into as my game gets better. These Mizuno's are perfect. My first forged irons and all I can say is wow. A properly struck shot feels awesome and I know as soon as I hit the ball where I hit it and how pure. Miss hits aren't too bad but I love the feedback. I shot my 3rd round with them today and hit 86.

Great Irons and let me say that even if you are a high handicapper, do not be afraid to give these a try, properly fitted of course.

Customer Service

The PGA instructor at the PGA Superstore was great in fitting me and helping me purchase. Mizuno was great too, I am a left hander so I had to order them with stiff, steel dg300 shafts plus a 1/2 in length and .50 degrees upright. Got them to my door in 1 week.

40 yrs old, 8 hdcp, 7iron ~162 off fairway.

Strengths; iron play and short game.

Weaknesses; driving inconsistency and long putting.

Started on blades back in the early 80's, switched to cavity after family demands cut playing time. Currently playing Ping I3+ blades which I generally like. However, after playing forged blades so long, I have never really gotten used to the look of unpolished/cast clubs. Also, launch angle is just too high with current club/shaft combo (Rifle 5.0) and I have to make too many set-up adjustments to keep the ball low in windy conditions.

Checked out many of the Mizuno demo sticks for multiple trips to the driving range under a variety of conditions and then borrowed a set for a round.

Simply stated, this is not the club for me. It's beautiful; reasonably thin topline, smooth transition into a generous offset, flawless finish, etc. That's where the love affair ends.

Ball flight is simply too high. Much like my current Ping's the ball launches too high which makes it difficult keep ballflight down without exaggerated set-up changes. Also, found myself hooking the ball quite a bit due to the offset - which is fairly generous but well hidden by a beautiful head design.

The feel and feedback were worse than my cast Ping I3+ Blades. Center button impact actually feels better on the Ping's - something I would not have believed without experiencing it for myself. Center struck balls sound flat and all but the most heinous misses are hidden by the dead feel that is the nature most full cavity clubs.

I hit extensive balls with a similar shafted MP60 and MP32 for comparison and found the MP60 and MP32 much more suited to my game. The trajectory of the MP60 is much better; boring launch followed by a nice downrange apex and soft landing. Same with the MP32. The MP60 and MP32 were about a half-club longer on pure shots with tighter dispersion than the MP57. The MP32 makes you pay a little for missing the button but there was no discernible difference between the MP60 and MP57.

Ironically, if you're into unbiased scientific data (I'm not necessarily but am willing to consider it for the sake of discussion), the Maltby Playability Factor for this club is actually lower (less forgiving) than the MP60.

For me, the MP60 proved a much better option from both an aesthetic and performance perspective.

This is a beautiful club and there's no doubt that some will consider it the cat's pajamas. The generous but not ridiculous sole width make it a possible choice for those folks who are fairly solid but still struggling with angle of attack inconsistency.

Customer Service

N/A to this point although their fitting system and array of custom options is quite impressive

I just bought these clubs a couple of weeks ago. All I can say is WOW!! I have been playing with Cleveland CG4 tours the last couple of years and decided to switch after hitting these. They are long and pure with plenty of workability. I was hitting the 6 iron 200 yards with a little draw every time! Wonderful! If you are even a half-way decent golfer you must give these a try. You won't be disappointed! Mizuno makes the best product...hands down!

Ordered these with the project-x shafts through their custom department with additonal specs.. Delivery was within two weeks and the clubs are better than expected. Have been playing for over 20 years and have to say these clubs are the best all around iron I have found. Set up is clean and traditional. Pure strikes are just that "PURE FEELING". Misses are forgivin and not harsh. The shaft/head combo. provide the best trajectory control I have experienced. Would recommend to anyone 15hndcp or below to scratch. Truly a club you can grow with and become a better player. I belong to a top 100 driving range and hit several thousand balls a week, maintain a 9hndcp which is up from a 4 when I use to play regularly. I have hit just about every club out there and will continue too, however these are the ones that got my money. Try them for yourself, you won't regret it.

I purchased these irons because I have made immense strides in my golf game during the past year. I drove the ball straighter than ever before and I putted with a lot of skill.

However my iron play still lagged because of psychological reasons. Because I usually used to fade my drives into the rough, I had become accustomed to hitting with my irons out of the short or deep rough. In time I became very good at shooting the ball towards the direction of the green with accuracy.

Then when I started to drive the ball better last year, more and more of my second shots were from the fairway. I wasn't used to hitting off the fairway and I did a lot of digging and skulling that killed my scores. Once I got the ball close to the pin it was okay. Getting there required an extra stroke or two because of the unfamiliarity of hitting off the hardpan.

I tried different kinds and brands of irons. I settled on the Hogan forged irons for awhile and played a much better iron game, but the early 90's generation of graphite shafts didn't give me a lot of feel and control. I consulted friends and a lot of them play the MX-23 and the MX-25.

The MP-57 just came out and I demo-ed it several times and thought it resembled the best features of the Hogan irons but had a better grip and shaft combination.

I've hit with these several times and when struck in the sweetspot, it flies very nicely and with the distance that I expected from each club. I get great feedback from each ballstrike so that I know how to adjust my swing to get better contact. I would recommend these to anyone who are making strides in their game and want to have a great balance of performance and forgiveness with more of the balance being towards the former.

I have been playing with my trusty MX-23 for the past 3 years. I couldn't resist all of the glowing reviews. I bought mine on Ebay with a good deal.

Ball flight is high which I like. It is the prettiest club around. Feel is awesome. I didn't lose any distance. Off the fairway from a 150 yards, I can still get there with an 8 iron.

Very happy with this set. I will hang on to these for a long long long time.
