Mizuno MP-14 Irons

Mizuno MP-14 Irons

DESCRIPTION

A favorite of dozens of PGA Tour Pros, the MP-14TM is one of the most popular forged blades on the PGA Tour and features a clubhead made of Grain Flow ForgedTM mild carbon steel. These nickel chrome plated forged blades are as solid as they look, delivering the feel and performance demanded by accomplished players. The MP-14 irons feature a cut-away muscle-back contour design with a slight offset to generate feedback and excellent workability. They also feature rolled leading edges to reduce turf drag.

The Mizuno MP-14s are a somewhat easier to play version of the MP-29s. The differences are marginal: weaker lofts which result in a nice high trajectory, a slight offset, and a thicker topline to assist in alignment. Feel is exceptional. I recommend these to anyone wishing to improve their ball striking by learning how to hit on the sweet spot time after time. For me, that's what forged irons are all about; the feel of a good shot is so wonderful it's like a drug -- you want more and more of it and as a result miss-hits no longer become acceptable. *These* are game improvement clubs.

I switch to these irons about a year ago seeking a classic, sharp look and no offset (The GRAD's had a rounded look and an offset). These are the ultimate for the better golfer desiring a clean, classic look along with great feel and workability. Be warned, if you don't hit the ball on the sweet spot you will know immediatly. I actually think of them as teaching devices, because I always know excatly where on the clubhead I am striking the ball. This is a top of the line blade with an excellent feel. Very solid! You can't beat them.

This club is a classic blade that is fun to hit. I originally bought this set just for practice and playing casual rounds of golf, but they have stayed in my bag most of the year. I have even used them in tournaments where I have shot in the seventys two out of last three. If you want a good club that you are willing to practice with then this is a good set, but if you just play occasionally I would not get these.

Moving from a cavity-back to the MP14 proved to be a challenge but a valuable lesson in how to hit a golf ball correctly. The MP-14 will not correct your mistakes, but it will make you very aware of them. I have always faded my shots and now with the MP-14 I can play straight and even draw on demand. My socres have not improved dramatically, but I do have better control and of course, I am still learning from my mistakes.

The MP-14 is the most straightforward golf club I have ever played, no gimmicks here, no titanium, no tri metal, no tru bore, no bubbles, not even a giant cavity back sweet spot. This club is just what it looks like: a performer that time after time will provide distance control, accuracy and a boring ball flight that lands softly. I have recently switched to this club from a forged cavity back which offered very little distance control, and limited workability. This club will provide everything that I tell it to; you tell it, it does it, what more can you ask for? THIS IS MY CLUB FOR LIFE!!!!!!!!! As has been well stated this club is not for everybody but its reputation is a bit harsh and it's not nearly as hard to hit as many make it out to be. I highly recommend that any player who takes the game seriously and wants to have consistant equipment that hits the same time after time try this club before they purchase their next set of irons.

Great for ""true"" ballstrikers. I switched to them primarily because one of my school's home courses is a windy shotmaker's course where it is absolutely crucial to be able to work the ball and control the trajectory under many different conditions. **NOT FOR EVERYONE.** Players who insist on using a club that is easily manueverable(sorry about the spelling if that last word's not quite right)with a true feel will find the mp14s might just be the club for them. Also try DCI 990s, Hogan Apex and Apex Plus, Macgregor Tourney PMBs and PCBs, Ram Tour Grind, and other Mizuno blades.

What can I say more! I fell in love with these babies right at the moment of first storke. (Others may find it wierd: I was hitting around 100s back then). This club has been the first choice for many established PGA Pros, including Tiger Woods and Nick Faldo, and has earned more prize money than ANY other club in PGA's history. As a definite choice for high level players (not like me!), this club is deadly accurate, yet providing overwhelming power. The feel is absolutely solid, which is a trademark of a forged iron. The head is small and sharp so that you can easily hit the ball out of the rough. However, just like any man-made club, this club is not for everybody (including me). Since the club is heavy-weighted and super stiff, you should have enough physical power to handle it without any problem. Second, due to the small head size and no back cavity, it gives you a tiny area of sweet-spot. Therefore, any un-concentrated mind will send your ball nowhere but in the lake or heavy bush. But, regardless of these serious drawbacks, I strongly recommend you to try this club because I believe that golf should be something challenging. Good-luck guys.

Since making the switch to these irons,my accuracy and distance control has improved.Any better player would enjoy hitting these clubs though they are probably not for the higher handicap player that doesn't hit the sweetspot consistently

I demoed these clubs and knew right away that they were everything that people had described them to be. they are not the most forgiving irons, but are not as bad as some of the older blades i have hit. feel sweet on impact and have a good trajectory for me. recomend them for anyone who is willing to work on there game. these clubs will take some time to get used to.
