I received the FliHi 18 as a gift from a good friend who knows my game pretty well. I'd been using my Ping Zing 1 iron off the tee because I have difficulty with woods in general. The first day I used the FliHi, I was getting 235-240 straight down the middle! Once I've "grooved" the club to my swing, I should be exceeding 250. This club has earned a place in my bag!

Model Reviewed: Mizuno Fli Hi 18* and 21*

I never thought that I would be buying "name brand" clubs because I used to think that knock-offs were the same...boy was I wrong. I took a trip to a local shop and just happened to run into a demo day with Mizuno. I took a set of MX-20's for a ride and I was absolutely hooked. I talked to the owner about ordering a set with the 21* Fli Hi subbed out for the 3 iron...which was no problem at all. These utility irons are extremely easy to hit and for me I have found the 21* almost as far as my 3 wood at around 220 yards. The 18* has taken me up to around 245 and has replaced my driver as far as I am concerned. I do not have a very high swing speed...around 97MPH with the driver but these clubs fly dead true without having to muscle the club around or swing out of your pants...even with a slight draw sometimes. The feel is very solid at impact and the forged face lets you know where the ball is at all times. In hindsight I should have ordered the 24* to take the place of the four iron but I will wait and see how things go.

Customer Service

Have not had to use Mizuno's but Brookpark Golf in Lewisburg, PA has been great in both sales support as well as the custom fitting that I received.

I simply can not hit this club. I can hit my mp-33 and cleveland TA-3 irons just fine. Maybe because of the offset of this club, I often duck-hook even with the stiff shaft. One thing that I do not understand is, how could someone hook his/her 2 or 3 irons and use this club instead? as some of the previous reviewers. another thing about this club is: I can't use it in the rough. I switch to Titleist 973E fairway woods, with Proforce fairway shaft, these woods do wonders.

I just finished my second round with this club in my bag and for the second round in a row, i've put my ball to within 3 foot at the 195yard par3. This club is awesome off the tee and just as nice from the fairway - it travels sooooo high and land soooo softly and it has the feel of a typical forged Mizuno iron. Supreme

Last year I started playing golf again after a pause of about 10 years. I used to struck my 2 and 3 irons without any problems through the fairway, but those times were gone. I have been hitting buckets, buckets and buckets of ball to regain my former skills with the 2 and 3 irons, not to mention the 1 iron...... Last year I tried the Taylor Made Rescue clubs to complete my Mizuno Comp EZ Rifle 6.0 forged irons in the game, but whatever shaft I tried, I kept striking terrible hooks with those ''damned'' closed faces. Now I have tried and bought the FliHi 18*, I instantly threw my 1 and 2 irons in the waste bin. This FliHi 18* is splendid and I am hitting 210 - 220 yds of the fairway with the ease of hitting a 5 or 6 iron. I have ordered a FliHi 21* to replace my 3 iron and hope to break 80-83 this year. The 18* doesn''t replace my 3 wood, but is way better to control than 5 or 7 woods.

These utility irons are the best addition to my bag in years. They hit the ball high and long, yet are very workable. The 21* is about 7 yards longer than my 3 iron and the 18* is 10 yards longer than my 2 iron. I may get the 24* also and pull the 4 iron from my bag. It is a lot of fun to hit these high and soft from 200+ yards.

longer and more accurate than the t-zoid woods, easier to hit too, i''m getting the 21 and 18 but i''m keeping my 3 wood for dog right fairway because this darn thing just keeps the ball hi, straight, and long. i can also make the ball low and roll, roll, rollllllllllll.

I have read so many great things about the Fli Hi I had to try one for myself. I am really glad I did. I hit Callaway X-12 pro series irons and hit them well but I don''t always get the distance or accuracy that I likewith my 3 iron. I also have a 5 wood but lack the accuracy I need with it as well. The fli hi took care of that. This club is so versatile, I can really step on it and hit it 200-215 yards or I can choke down and hit it 3/4 and hit it around 170 yds. It is very accurate great on tight holes or long par 3''s off the tee. I plan on keeping this club in the bag for quite some time.

It is an expensive upgrade to drop $300 total to replace your 2,3,4 irons, or 5 wood, 3,4 irons. The Fli-Hi was worth the cost for me. I hit these much better than either woods or irons at this distance. I had to move to a 13* strong 3 wood to compensate for the distance of the 18* Fli-Hi. These clubs restructure the accuracy of your long shots, providing consistancy at 4 iron position and up. Forged, hollow, very forgiving, and extremely long hitting even beyond my 15.5* 1 iron.
