I'm a relatively new golfer; who plays and or practices (3-4 hours) daily. I started my journey with a set of very good KZG irons (PFTs) with cavity backs. Initially struggled to hit the KZGs consistently and could not get much feel from the club heads. (I take lessons twice monthly from an ex-pro). Decided to shop for something that felt better. Tested Big Berthas, Mizuno MP 30s, and Hogan Apex & Pro; on several outside demo occasions. None felt as good as the 1025cs. The clubs' feel is incredible!!! No problems consistently hitting shots with both long and short irons. Use Sonartec's CV Pro driver 10 deg., with KZG CH-II 3 & 5 woods. (love them too!). I would recommend the Mac 1025Cs to any handicap level. Experts say that the average golfer cannot feel the difference between forged and cast clubs. I'm not the brightest guy around, but I do feel that the 1025Cs have helped my game immensely. Customer Service BHM is ecellent. Some contact with Macgregor also. Their customer service is outstanding! Similar Products Used: Mizuno MO 30, Callaway BB, Hogan Apex and Pros, and KZG PFTs. |

I have played with a no-name set for 8 years now and thought it was time for a move up to forged irons. Hit the TaylorMade 300s, among other things, but these felt the best. Once they arrived I have played a few rounds, and despite not yet hitting then as well as I should (it will take a few weeks for your swing to get used to a new set of clubs) I shot an 83 this weekend, one of my lowest rounds ever. The Three Wood is especially delightful - straight, and solid... recommend these without doubt to anyone wishing to move up to a set of forged irons |

I just returned from the driving range and tested the new 1025c and the 1025m irons from MacGregor. the 1025c's are the most solid iron I have ever hit. The sweet spot on these irons seemed to cover the entire clubface. On toe hits the ball traveled nearly as far as the flush hits. the 1025M's are very attractive but not nearly as forgiving as the 1025c's. I did notice that my ball flight seemed higher than usual and will probably order these irons 2 degrees strong. I must have hit 80 balls with the 1025c's and can't say I hit one that felt bad. I would recommend these irons for anybody wanting to return to a forged iron and still be forgiving. I also tested Hogans and while they were very nice clubs, they weren't nearly as solid as the 1025c's. Customer Service N/A Similar Products Used: Hogans and Mizuno's. |

I was looking for a midsized forged cavity back and found th 1025C. I hit the hogans, cleveland, and the mizuno mx-20's. The 1025C's absolutely have the best look and feel of the entire bunch. They have a little too much offset for what I like, but the appearance and the feel make up for that. I like the MX-20's, but the clubhead is just too big for me. The Hogans are nice as well, but the top line is just too thick. The 1025C's are great clubs. If your looking for a forged cavity back, give these a try. MacGregor 1025 C Irons
I am an unabashed and unrepentent "Equipment 'Ho'", and I like to demo new equipment, especially if it has a plausible technological advancement. I have demo'd or owned lots of irons in the past 4-5 years. I have never found a clubwith the combination of being long, straight, forgiving, and even allowing a bit of working the ball as the MacGregor 1025 C forged cavity backs. The feel is like "firm butter". Solid, yet smooth. I tried both the steel and graphite shafts, but preferred the graphite because there was less vibration to my wrists and elbows. I know a purist would prefer the steel, but I have to go with what is more comfortable by the end of the round, or a session at the driving range. They are the straightest irons I've ever hit, and the long irons are easier than most to hit. I've put away my 9 wood and added the 4 iron to my bag. ( I haven't decided yet about the 3 iron vs. 7 wood, a Cleveland Launcher). I would highly recommend these clubs, and would suggest that if you are in the market for irons, or if you are just curious, demo these before you buy anything else. (I also demo'd the 1025 M blades, but found that my best shots were just as good with the cavity back model, but my less than ideal shots were MUCH better with the cavity back. Either club could work the ball, though obviously the blades were easier in that regard.) I think the design is very clever, allowing the forgiveness of a cavity back, yet there is definitely added power from the weight distribution strategy they used. MacGregor 1025c V-Foil Rifle Flighted 6.0
Was at my local driving range/pr shop and decided to take a demo club for a swing. I own Hogan Apex Plus' and wasn't really in the market for new irons, just curious. Couldn't believe how nice these were. Had the sensation of a pendulum when swung. Ball flight was high, far and straight. Had no problem hitting draws and fades on command, easier in fact than my Hogans. Long irons are fairly easy to hit, mid irons really shine. Quite forgiving yet able to work the ball, great combo. Demo club had TT Dynamic Gold shafts, S300, but they had a set that were bought and immediately returned with the optional Flighted Rifles added and 2* upright. After a quick check on the lie board, 2* was it, perfect fit. Hit them with the Rifles and more of the same as with the TT's, only better. The feel of these are much better than the PCB's that they replaced. MUCH softer feel, none of the harshness on missed hits that was there in the PCB. And these are as solid as it gets. In fact that is where I was really surprised most. I didn't like the feel of the PCB's comparred to the Hogans, but these feel better in every way than the Hogans. That says alot, the Hogans are a fine set of irons. Ran a comparrison with other forgings, some which I had tried and given the thumbs down to before, like the Clevelands just to make sure. Liked the Cobra's alot, but not a true competitor to the MacGregors IMO. Another nice line by the "new" MacGregor, keep up the good work! I hadn't been hitting my irons too well this year, and figured I was slumping. I went to Edwin Watts, actually to look for a new 3 wood, but I ended up hitting every demo iron they had into the net. I hit the X14's, I3, Appex Plus, and a few others I had been wanting to try for a while. The X14's felt pretty good, and the rest felt no better or worse than my King Cobra O-size's. Well I tried a few others because they were there and I finally picked another 7 iron and hit it. My first swing the ball rocketed into the net. It felt great... pure... I picked up the club and looked at the sole and it was the MacGregor. The next 5 swings felt almost just as good. I was very suprised at the feel and how solidly these hit the ball. I wasn't looking for irons, and if I bought I didn't think it would be Mac Gregors. Well I went back and got these the next day. I'm very happy. First of all the clubs look great and they frame the ball well at address. I find them to be forgiving in both distance and direction. And they are very accurate with a tremendous feel when you hit it well.. My second shot with one of these (a PW) at the course was within two feet for the birdie. Of course no club is a cure all, but I find myself looking forward to iron shots again rather than dreading them. I've been playing them for about a week and a half and I'm still getting them dialed in, but the improvement is already noticable. Like the other man said, if you're on the market for a forged cavity back, try these and you may be supprised. I certainly was! I would not trade these for any iron, and I'll probably play this set until I can no longer swing a club. The V-Foils have performed above and beyond my expectations. They get better after each round. I don't change irons often; in fact, I have had my Mizuno comp ez's since June of '99. I went to every demo day I could during the spring, hitting practically every major manufacturers irons. The MacGregor 1025 CB's simply stood out. What was also impressive was the crowd that had gathered around the MacGregor tent raving about the new irons and fairway woods (drive so so). I went with the standard specs with DG S300 shafts vs. the Pro-Pel stock shaft. MacGregor says the Pro-Pel aids in a higher ball flight. I tend to naturally hit the ball high and my ball flight is more penetrating with the DG. These are the first irons in 3 yrs to kick the Mizunos out of the bag. The distance control and accuracy are equal. Where the V-Foils stand out is the crisp "smack" sound when you strike the ball. They still give you that butter feel, but the combination of sound and feel put them ahead of the Mizuno's and Ben Hogan's (only other forged irons makers on par with MacGregor, IMO!!). These are absolutely beautiful irons. I agree with the above review that they are almost too pretty to hit. But when you hit them, their true beauty shows. Solid, sweet feel. Medium trajectory and workable for a cavity back. The True Temper Pro Pel shafts are good for me because they are not too stiff. While the shorter irons work well, the longer irons are remarkably easy to hit. This is what really sold me on the MacGregors. I think these clubs will become very popular and for good reason. My old pings are fine (keeping as back-up) but i've been reading a lot about the technology offered in today's forged cavity designs. I extensively demo'd every forged CB on the market I could get my hands on. The apex edge(i did not like the hole they call a cavity), edge pro(not forgiving enough..basically the apex plus), tour premium cb, comp ez, mx-20, 845 evo v-25, ta 3(not a true forge), cobra ss(not bad), tm 300(i don't get the hype). Going into this I was expecting to end up purchasing the 300 series, hogan's, or the mizuno's. The Macgregor's caught my eye, but I was not expecting them to end up in my bag. It actually came down to the 1025C's or the mx-20's (very nice clubs). Both these irons stood out in the way of feel, but the Mac's just fit my game better than the mizuno's. The 1025C actually has slightly more offset and a more rounded toe that I prefer. My ball flight with the mx-20 was too high and the clubhead too oversized for my taste. I ordered the V-Foils with rifle flighted 5.5 shafts. They arrived one week early and the specs were dead on. The quality and craftsmanship are second to none. These irons are almost too pretty to hit...and the diamonds on the clubface are sweet. I have been so impressed with these that I just bought the 50 deg VIP forged wedge. Do yourself a favor and just demo these if you are considering any other forged cavity back. You might be surprised. Customer Service Excellent. Called me to varify my order, then called me again to inform me they were shipping sooner than expected. Similar Products Used: I mentioned in review. |
