I recently puchased these on E-bay at great price. I have to say, they are great clubs for a low to mid-hadicapper. I have been practicing at working the ball and these beauties do it very well for a cavity back. The feel they have is very soft even by forged standards.Preety forgiving clubs for forged,as well. I am someone who is torn between hitting the super forgiving cavity backs or going with something like these. I've hit the Big Bertha's,Fusions,Slingshots,mx-23 and many others. The winners in the big cavity backs is the Macgregor M455's and in the mid-handicap class would be the Adams Gt ultimate(very easy to hit for small heads) and the Mac.1025c's. Back to the 1025c-these clubs are flat fun to hit and if you are someone who is willing be patient and learn how to hit a smaller head like these, they will be very rewarding in the long run. They give great feedback, have good trajectory and are very playable. I chose the stiff flex shaft because the shafts are super light and I was looking for max control. They have worked out fine. High handicappers could hit them but might be better served with something more forgiving until they get a solid swing. I will alternate between the M455's and these on the course to see how they fare. The M455 irons are awesome in the forgiveness department and are FORGED too.Macgregor is back and deserve to be.

These are great clubs. I did a lot of research before I picked these clubs and I could not be happier. They look and feel great. I feel more confident with them then I ever have with any other club I have used. These are just great clubs all around.

Great irons. I have owned these with Rifle 6.0's, ProPels and Dynamic Gold and have played well with each. The sharp grooves create a lot of holding power on the greens and they are very forgiving. Its a shame Macgregor stopped making them.

Wanted to make a move after playing TM LCG irons for 6 years (love them, btw), and these MacGs caught my eye - for those of you that appreciate art, these sticks will appeal to your eye - they are one of the most beautifully crafted clubs I've ever seen. Demo'd on and off, and bought 'em for $299 on closeout. After 5 rounds and countless hours on the range, I decided to sell these to a friend. Even though these are cavity backs, they are still very blade-like, and hitting the ball on the sweet spot it tough. To compare, I brought my old TMs to the range, and don't think I mis-hit a ball. I then took out my 1025C, and the difficulty hitting crisp shots came right back. Bottome line: great clubs, when hit on the sweet spot but for those of you who need a more forgiving club, this aint it. Why make the game any harder than it has to be?

Customer Service

Great - always respond to email queries, and actually told me from the start that I should be at least a 10 HC to play these.

I tried these today at Golftown while testing my CXI's that I just had fitted. While I have always liked the look of the VIP line (in my opinion the best looking iron out there in either format), I have also shied away from them due to fear of forges and price. They are currently reduce to $500 3 - PW, and as my main beef with the CXI's is the exagerated offset, I decided to give the MacGregors a try. Not only are they hadsome clubs to look at, they are very nice looking at set-up as well. With a controlled swing I was hitting the 6 iron around 195 yards...usually straight, with a couple fades and one great big slice. I tend to hook my irons because my swing does not suit an offset head (bought without knowing better and have regretted it ever since). I feel that I am still too inconsistent to truelly appreciate forged clubs, but when I move on these will definitely get due consideration. If you can reproduce your swing consistently enough to make and repeat adjustments I think you could get a lot out of these clubs, and with the way they look you may never want to take them out of the bag.

Customer Service

Don't know, but they have been around a long time...must mean something.

Model Reviewed: MacGregor 1025C - Propel Light S300 shafts

I have had these irons with Propel Light S300 shafts for over a year now. I play sporadically, where I will work hard on my game for a few months then not play at all for a few months. My swing is a work in progress. When I mis-hit with these irons, I know I hit thin/fat, toe or heel and I'm no expert! I learn my swing so much better by using these irons. I get better distance than all of the other irons I've hit (TA5, TA7, Callaway X-12, X-14, Adams GT, Hogan APex Plus). Mis-hits still travel well. rarely do i hit a nasty slice or hook. It usually comes out as a high fade about 20% short or a low draw about 20% short. When I'm swinging well I can work the ball. To all you duffers out there, you need to ask yourselves this question. Do I want to keep the same BAD swing and buy new game improvement irons every year hoping to shave a few strokes? OR do I want to buy a nice forgiving club like the MacGregors, that give you enough FEEL to help learn the proper swing? these irons will get me out of the 90's and be all the club I need to work down through the 80's. It's just up to me to use them properly.

My long search for a great set of irons is over. Have found what may be the best kept secret out there. These MacGregors are long, accurate & very easy to hit. I was using Titleist DCIs for 7 years when I decided to take advantage of the latest technology with a new set of irons. I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I tried as many brands as possible(Titleist 822-OS,Ping I3, Hogan Apex Edge Pro, Wilson Deep Red II, Mizuno MX 23, Cleveland TA7 & TA6, Cobra SS-I to name a few). All were good but didn't give me the feel I was looking for. Loved the Hogans at first but made the mistake of getting stiff shafts & starting having lots of problems with the long irons. Tried the MacGregors when Edwin Watts advertised the low price of $399 & wow what a beautiful set of irons. Great trajectory & they just feel so solid at impact. I even hit the 3 iron well for the first time in my life. Looking forward to getting back in the 80s with these beauties. If you are looking for new irons you have got to try these out.

Won a set of these irons and I'm impressed with the look. I play a set of Wilson Gear Effects from the mid-90's and have been thinking about upgrading for 2-years. I took the 5, 7 & PW from both sets and went to the range. No difference. Last season I demo'd the I3's and TA-7's. The TA's felt the smoothest. Still looking....

I have used these irons for 6 weeks now and to me, these are the easiest irons to work. For the last two years, I have beenplaing the Mizuno mx-20's. These are excellent irons as well and are probably a little more forgiving than the Macgregors, but I wanted a more traditional looking iron. If you're a fairly good ball stricker, and you enjoy playing a forged irons, I don't think you'll be dissapointd with these. Brand new, they are now selling for $399 in pro shops.

After a couple of years with the Callaway x-14 irons I decided to move on. First came the Titleist 731PM. A nice iron, rather unforgiving but great distance. Next came the TaylorMade RAC LT. Nice irons, good feed back but not quite the feeling I was seeking. I went back to the x-14's wondering if I was at the apex of my game with these clubs. Then I happened on a good deal for a set of used MacGregor 1025C irons. I did not know much about these irons (and still profess to know little) but hazard the money and made the purchase. I took out the x-14's and threw the Tourney's into the bag. Forget the range, let's take these to the course. The first hole I got a birdie... (Driver, titleist vokey 56* and putter) ok, so far they gave me some sort of mojo feeling just being in the bag. Next hole a par... 5 wood, putt putt... again with the mojo. Finally I used the 5 iron. I made solid contact with what can only be described as a "buttery" feeling. The ball flew off the club and settled some 212 yards onto the green. "Nice" I said. Made the par and moved on... ever since (12 rounds later) I can say that I have found a new level of play and managed a 72 at my home course. Thanks MacGregor.

no experience but I'm sure they have a help line like the rest of the club makers.
