DESCRIPTION

My current set of clubs was an early pioneer of progressive cavity irons. Cactus Triple Threats. (Since out of business). Anyway, when I saw that Golfsmith had came out with a progressive cavity iron, it got my attention. I purchased a 5 iron head and DG s300 shaft for. Golfpride Victory grip. Added 5 grams of weight to the port.
I must say that these irons are indeed very classy looking...and the feel. Mmmmm...like butter. Trajectory was perfect for this club. I was consistantly hitting the 5 iron about 200-205 with very good accuracy with each shot. With the added weight, it helps to swing easier and let the club head do the work. (My opinion...swing easy..hit big)
After several rounds and a few trips to the range, I decided to try a different shaft in it. I put a Rifle 6.0 in it and results were similar, however, it felt like the Rifle was a little stiff. I mean the DG s300 feels more lively and has a bit more punch through the hitting zone.
If you read the review at Golfclubreview.com, it says that golfsmith recommends putting dynamic gold lite's with these irons. I personally feel that DG lite's will make the clubs to light and force overswinging.
In the end...I will probably put together a set with DG s200 rather than s300 and drop the weight in the port to 3 grams, rather than 5. This combo feels a bit heavy for me.
So if you want a great feeling iron with amazing looks to match, get some Tour Cavity Pro's!! You wont be disappointed.

What attracted me to these irons was the design concept of a progressive cavity. I had hit cavity backs and blades but liked cavity aspects in longer irons and blade aspects in shorter irons and wedges. Obviously, this set seemed to be the answer. The long irons have sufficient forgiveness while the wedges have incredible feel. This coupled with proper fitting creates a nice all around set of clubs. Very good looking as well.

It has taken me a little time to get used to them, but this may be due to the fact that my old sticks were an inch too short and way too light.

Great Sticks! I had them built buy a local shop and fitted them with GD R300. Feels good, looks good and performs very well. I find the clubs forgiving enough without the heavy feeling of a cast perimeter weighted club. I would especially like to point out that this clubs have improved my short game in a big way. Chipp and one putt seems no longer a faint hope but a likely prospect. My friends remined sceptic towards the brand at first but after hitting a few balls themselves they praise the performance and the looks. I've sent some of them the same way.

I had been struggling with the decision to replace my Cobra’s with either Blades or Cavity backs. Golfsmith took the decision away with these clubs. I get the best of both worlds in the Tour Cavity Pro’s. I now get a nice draw on my short irons and PW while slamming a nice 5 iron to the center of the green. These clubs are nice, however the do take some getting use to. I have them swinging at D3 with Rifle Flighted 5.5’s and Rifle Full Cord Slot Wraps. All of the clubs are ¼” over (5I = 38 ¼) with an extra 4 grams added to the heads.

These Irons are SWEET! For those looking for just the right feel with a great look these irons are for you. I can’t put in to words how much I like these. If you are not skilled in building clubs, find someone who can help match the proper swing weight as well as club dynamics to your situation. There isn’t anything better then Custom Golf Clubs just ask your local PGA Professional.

I had be playing the same custom built irons for almost 15 years because I could not find a club I liked better until I built an 8 iron and PW Tour Cavity Pro. I carried the clubs and used them for about a month and was so impressed with the way they performed I decided to build a whole set. I used Apollo Shadow shafts, which unfortunately are no longer available. The shafts were tipped regular and finished with Golf Pride Tour Velvet grips.

For someone who likes to work the ball and doesn't want to go to the expense of a true forging, the Tour Cavity Pro is your answer.

I build clubs as a hobby. As soon as I saw these new heads, I wanted to build a set to try. I used the Rifle 6.0 shaft with the Golf Pride Tour Softie grip. I added 9 grams of tungsten in the weight port in each head. I have played 3 rounds now and they feel great. They have a very solid feel. The extra weight makes it so I can feel where the head is during the entire swing. These clubs are accurate, consistant on distance, and great looking at set up. I have the AW, SW, and LW . The wedges are great out of the sand or deep rough and very accurate. I like these clubs alot.

I put these together with Tri-gold with sensicore shafts and the new winn tour grips. One of the most beautiful sets i have seen. Only two rounds played thus far....but the feel and feedback are great. im not a scratch golfer and not as forgiving as my old ping eye 2's, but if your a decent hitter you will love these. The short irons are especially deadly accurate. any players would love these, more forgiving than blades...and feel like a forged iron.

I assembled a full set of the TC Pro's with Rifle 5.5 shafts. WHOA! These are very sweet! The feel is soft like my GS blades, even when hitting rock-hard range balls. The progressive cavity works really well. The blade like wedges and short irons make for terrific feel and distance control. I like the traditional lofts that don't leave such ridiculous gaps at the short end. I am pretty sure these sticks will be in the bag for a quite a while.

Customer Service

Golfsmith has had more that their share of problems in the customer service area. Great products, but service isn't always the best. However, they have always fixed their mistakes to my satisfaction.

I put together a 5i with a 6.0 rifle shaft. Great looking club, beautiful finish. Better looking than most OEM offerings. Blade-like appearance at address. Nice soft, but firm, feel. Great feedback, with a nice "click" for well struck hits. Cavity weighting and slight offset promote a right to left ball flight. Mis-hits are punished more in distance than direction. Forgiving for a players club, but it won't mask severe toe and heel hits very well. I plan to put a full set together.

I currently play the GS Tour Cavity Forged. Not sure if the TC Pro will force me to switch.
