I recently fashioned myself a set of Golfsmith Pro Forged irons. I used Dynamic Gold R300 shafts. I am extremely impressed. The irons are beautiful and feel wonderful. I've been playing MP-29's and I thought I'd give the Golfsmith's a try. They compare favorably. The MP's are a little softer, but that's about the only difference I can detect. The Pro Forged have a nice penetrating flight. They seem to spin the ball better than my old 29's. I guess new grooves should. The quality of the Golfsmith Pro Forges are excellent. I checked the lofts and lies and they checked dead on. Overall, I couldn't be happier. They are well worth $300. Customer Service Always been excellent. I have played many different blades over the last few years and none better than the Pro Forged. Tom Wishon (formerly with GS) did a fabulous job designing this head and the quality control is superb. The center of gravity seems to be perfectly placed and the leading edge and bounce are also just right. These blades cut a beautiful divot without digging in too readily. The feel is first rate and the margin of error is amazing for a blade. Although the Mizuno MP33 is widely regarded to be the sweetest and friendliest blade the Pro Forged is extremely close and I believe the quality is even better. I opted to go with Rifle shafts in my set and they are a perfect compliment. If you're a blade player give these a try and save yourself at least a couple hundred bucks. Customer Service Not the best but they usually get the job done. Similar Products Used: KZG, Wilson FG-51's, Hagens, Zevo's, and Mizuno's |

Love at first shot. People will give you a strange look and say "Golfsmith?"... yes, Golfsmith. These clubs are great. Smooth as any club I''ve ever hit and look beautiful on their own and at address. If you are in the market for new irons and are leaning toward blades you owe it to yourself to give these a rip. You will not be dissapointed. Use the hundreds of dollars you save on a Launcher driver!! With out a doubt the best set of irons I havef ever owned and the cost a quarter of what my last set was. If your buddies raz you about how their putter cost more than your irons just let them....until you take their money at the end of the round!! A beautiful set of irons! Classic blade shape with a modern design. Quality is excellent and the chrome plating is top notch. Score lines and letterings are flawless. I have Rifle shafts on them. The sweet spot is much larger than these thin looking blades appear. Feedback is great, feel is solid and accuracy is first rate. As with all blades, bad hits do sting a bit which forces you to focus on each shot. Workability is good, cuts and hooks are not hard to do with these. Feel is still very solid if you miss the sweet spot by bit. Dead on hits feel solid and smooth. I recommend these to anyone dedicated to learning the game. Customer Service Ron from Ronsclubs.com is a great clubmaker. His workmanship is top notch and backs them up with a lifetime guarantee. Got 2-SW with 3 clubs still in plastic wrappers off eBay; 2-6 cavities, 7-LW blades like Verplank hits...great deal! GrafAlloy stiff shafts provide control and soften mis-hits. My ball hitting has improved immensely with these sticks. The driller trajectory with butter feel dead on the stick feelin'' REALLY gets you concentrating on good ball striking...what every shot needs. I have no trouble working the ball, fades to hooks, under or over, these forged sticks are the super value! I don''t need to spend $500-$700 more to get the same results! You hit da ball, yo get da rezults! Poifect! Similar Products Used: MacGregor Nicklaus Blades |

Overall, a beautiful looking forged blade. Hit well, but not as well as my 25 year old forged blades that really need to be retired. Tried a 6 iron on a True Temper DG R300 shaft. Very smooth just like a blade should be. Unfortunately, it''s forged too thin for my liking. Golfsmith took too much out of the mid-section and sole. Needs some "muscle" put back into it, but keep the shiny clean appearance. Very affordable club that could embarrass your friends high priced "name" blades. |

If you can build a set up yourself then these irons are the best forged blades out there for the money. They are a great looking head with an extremely thin top line that I really like. I was playing Hogan Edges (1989) and had concerns if these blades were too unforgiving for my game. They do take a good swing to get the best from them but the accuracy of the minimal offset blade was amazing. Mis-hits off the toe resulted in straight but shortened distances in my case. These may not be "game improving" irons but they will defineatly "improve my game" by requiring me to focus and concentrate on each shot. The thin sole was my biggest adjustment to make when in fairway bunkers. They tend to dig in much deeper than I am use to. Nothing practicing won''''t fix. None Built this iron by myself with True Temper Dynamic Gold R300, Lamking Crossline Cord grip, 0.5" shorter than standard length. Made them shorter was trying to gain more control on this balde. To be honest, they are really good clubs. Not only their shiny beautiful outlook and decent design but also their great performance. When I hit the sweet spot, I feel hit nothing but butter. For distance wise, almost the same as other casting iron. Sweet spot is not that small than I thought. Great control and workable. First blade I had ever used. They are not as difficult as I thought. Great club! If I could, both the value rating and the overall rating shall be 6 stars. Customer Service Quick response and willing to answer any related question. None I was playing with a set of old spalding forged blades, was not real consistent with my iron play. Then I bought these recently, found that they are pretty easy to swing, and with more consistent quality in club construction, I was more consistent playing with these. I would recommend anyone wanting a set of forged blades to hone their ball striking skills to try a set of these quality clubs before they plunk down several big ones for an expensive name brand set.
