I love these clubs. Played golf for 35 years and had many clubs. These are easy to allign at hole. Easy to hit. Long. Accurate. Forgiving. My Ping Eye 2 clubs were stolen and I first bought Callaway X-14. Like at first but had trouble with consistency. Hit every club out there. Liked the TA5's the best. Same swing weight as the Eye 2's. Scoring has improved below Eye 2 level. Easy to hit the long irons. Love them.

Clubs are longer than my previous irons which were the Hogan Apex Plus irons. They are above average in terms of forgiveness, long irons are easiest i have ever hit, 9 and wedge are too long, difficult for distance control if you don't have a gap wedge. If it's distance and forgiveness you want, these are highly recommended, if it's accuracy, you may want to look another set. These grips have to go though, regripped iwth a set of golf pride cords.

Model Reviewed: Cleveland TA-5 Gunmetal irons

They are long, they are straight, the trajectory is high, the feel is great. Grips should be changed out. They are not as forgiving as some but if swung reasonably well they will be very forgiving. Hit the 3-4-5 better than any other iron I 've played and given the cranked lofts this really like hitting a 2-3-4 well. You will need a gap wedge. I have never hit one so poorly that it went "clang" in my hand. I think that must mean the sensicore shafts are great at absorbing vibration of hits off the sweet spot.

Very forgiving irons. I hit 1 club length further with the TA-5s versus my old Callaways. The PW bugged me (45 degree loft demanded I get a 50 degree gap wedge to fill the distance between my 56 degree SW). Immediately changed out the standard grips to GolfPride Wraps. Excellent clubs.

I first thought about these irons while playing in a junior tournament, because my playing partner had these and was killin em. I remembered that my dad had a set of Cleveland TA5s in the garage that he never used. They were standard length & lie, R-flex Sensicore shafts. I took them out to the range that day & loved. They gave me about % yards more distance than the ladies' clubs I was using. But they were definitely a confidence booster. I didn't like the stock grips though, (Golf Pride Tour Wrap). I took them to my local US Golf store, and put Lamkin grips on my 3-PW and they are awesome. Great clubs, no matter what your handicap. If you want them for a great deal, try eBay.

well, i just started golfing last summer and i have done nothign but golf. i play 36 holes per day providing the weather. i had tommy armour 855 irons up untill this week. they were great irons but i just wanted a newer set of irons. i bought the cleveland ta-5 irons because i have 588 wedges and i love them. These irons are the best irons i've ever hit. they are very forgiving, easy to hit, i take effortless swings and i can hit the ball straight and on average these irons go 15-20 yards farther than the 855's. The shafts are great and truly help get the ball up in the air. anyone can hit these irons without trouble. begginer or expert these irons are good.

Model Reviewed: 2002 TA 5 w/ sensicore

These clubs are a classic. The heart and sole of this club is the TT sensicore shaft. These shafts are of the highest quality, they give awesome feedback, low torqe, and flatten all vibration. The TA 5 head is a masterpiece of forgiveness. Its low profile, wide sole, and huge cavity make these clubs very easy to hit high and straight. They have just the right touch of offset for most players. The vibration absorbing system, combined with the sensicore shafts make these clubs feel like butter. They are by far one of the best feeling non forged, cavity back clubs ever made. These clubs also look very clean to the eye, like most cleveland designs (is there not a better looking wedge out there). One last thing about these clubs are that they are very long. I hit a 7 iron 170 yards. The stronger lofts give me about 10 extra yards. The only thing I didn't like about the clubs were the grips, which loose tackiness very quickly, replaced with tourwraps. A very solid club.

Model Reviewed: TA5 GunMetal with Sensicore steel shafts S-flex

Very accurate (more so than Ping Eye2), very straight (couldn't hit my natural draw), very high and very long ! The lofts are actually a club stronger which explains the longer shots. The high trajectory is probably due to the low kick-point of the True Temper Sensicore steel shafts. The Stiff-flex rating of these shafts actually feel more like regular. It's quite easy to work a fade with these clubs especially the long irons. The club head has amazing soft feel and very forgiving - almost like Callaway's X-14. Toe hits don't even draw back - they just go straight and lose little distance. Same with thin shots. My only gripe is that the relatively wide sole seems to make finese shots around the green a little difficult. Pitch and punch shots seem to catch the turf but maybe it's just me. Overall great clubs.

Customer Service

Local agent, Pan West has excellent service. Callaway themselves are terrible - never answered any of my e-mail enquiries. They probably don't bother about their international customers.

I bought these clubs about a year and a half ago. I liked them for about a week but then quickly grew apart from them. They have a very thick unattractive topline. They extremely heavy. They have offset out the a**. It forces you to hit about 1/4 of an inch sooner than usual. The stock grips are okay. Lasted longer than any other grips ive tried on other clubs. Other than the grips these are very chunky heavy clubs that only high handicap golfers (i believe) will enjoy. Also, the trajectory is very high with all the clubs. Aweful if your trying to hit with the wind.

I generally shoot in the low 100's. With these irons I have had 2 recent rounds of 99 and 97. These irons are long and forgiving. it took a couple of rounds to re-club myself. The loft on the clubs is stronger than I was used to but even that wouldn't matter. These clubs are long and accurate. Even the mis-hits travel a long way. I am hitting each of these clubs at least 15-20 yards longer than my old set. I tried a set of Ping ISI-K's and Calloway. The Cleveland's blew them away, at least for me. Great set for beginner an intermediate golfer.
