Just what I needed in a set of irons. I tried most comparable irons without looking at prices and liked the TA5's the best. They're also a great value since they were less expensive than many of the irons I demo'd. I get a consistent trajectory and enough feel to tell when I don't quite hit it sweet. You can't go wrong with these irons.

These are some of the best irons I have hit when you hit the way you are supposed to the ball has a nice trajectory. If you do hit an off center shot such as hitting behind the ball you in some instances with other clubs lose as much as ten yards but the Ta5's you lose only about 5 yards on a bad played shot These clubs are way better than the x-14's I used before this.

Clubs are forgiving on off-center shots, stays in the middle. Good shots fly high and long. 10+yds over old Ping Eye 2. You can still work the ball a little, but not like blades. I paid a little more for custom fit and Rifle Shafts, but I think it was an excellent deal over possibly getting another set of Pings, etc. Read alot of folks who had problems with broken hosels after some play. I think this is attributed to stores who order Std lie clubs and use their machine to bend them. It specifically warns on the Mfg box not to bend. I was about to order a set from Golf USA, but they insisted on bending the clubs themselves. It took 2.5 weeks for Cleveland to send my set out, but I'm very happy and confident with what I have. Now if I can only stop starting the back 9 with two double bogeys, I can get below 90. ;-)

Customer Service

No experience with Cleveland, but I did get an excellent complimentary 1 hr. lesson from the local pro shop where I purchased my clubs.

I reviewed the Cleveland TA5 and while you did not elect to post my review, you probably should at least show a current picture of the TA5 to avoid confusion. You are no doubt getting reviews on the current 2002 model which has some differences than the 2001 model you show pictured. Enjoy reading your reviews. Maybe one day I will learn how to post an acceptable one. Regards, Brant Chancey chanse@ev1.net

Love 'em - overall these are great clubs. Depending on your needs I can definitely recommend them. FORGIVENESS - Definitely agree that these are a bit more forgiving than my previous irons (Taylor made burners) SPIN INTO GREEN - Hold the green very well. Definite improvement over my prior clubs and the most noticeable difference with these clubs. DISTANCE - No change in distance for me over prior clubs, but since they are a little easier to hit I am much quicker to hit the 3 iron than in the past as a safe play on shorter holes (would use the 4 iron before). Distance with my irons wasn't my concern...forgiveness and holding the green when I hit it was. Were on sale at my local shop (15% off 499), so grab them while you can. Hit 'em straight.

Very pleased with the TA5''s. Bought the ''old'' Year 2001 style right when the Year 2002 came out, so debated over which on to buy. The newer model has the Sensicore Shaft, but I find that the club seems to do a good job of dampening mis-hit shots with the regular True Temper shaft. Balls hit in the middle sound good and go straight, long, and high. I even am able to now hit a slight draw with the long irons, something I could not do with my old Berthas. Quality product plus Great Value.

I just bought My TA5''s about a month ago. I have only been playing about ten months. I bought these because I felt I''d surpassed my starter set. They''re making a huge difference. I gained about 10-15 yards per club, and I''m hitting more balls pure. They are so forgiving that even shots off the toe are going straight and just losing distance. I''m satisfied with both the performance and look of these irons and recommend them to any golfers still in the beginning stage of the game.

These clubs are so underrated. Many golfers have their eye on Big Bertha Hawkeyes, Taylor Made 300''s or Ping i3. They seldom mention Cleveland. I happened to see an individual TA5 6 iron for sale and purchased it. When I took it to the range i found I was hitting it 175-180 yards carry consistently straight. Well I''m assuming that the shaft is regular flex, because I carry my Ping i3 6 iron at about 165-170 yards with a stiff shaft. I also tried working the ball and felt confortable working it both directions. The downside to this club is the feel. I was not expecting so much vibration, even on good hits, it jarred my wrists. This club is supposed to be very shock absorbant. I guess it is not fair to compare it with Ping i3s because it has shock absorbtion on the club head and shaft. Fortunately the new TA7s have shock absorbant shafts as well. For the price they sell TA5 sets at pro shops, I''d say it a deal. The feel may not be as great as Ping i3s but the ball comes of the club head fairly solid. Don''t dismiss this club when looking for a new set. At least try it out before buying a more expensive name brand set.

These are terrific clubs. They have a very nice feel, are reasonably forgiving, abnd have added about 10 yards to my longer clubs. This is a great club for the mid to high handicapper who wants to build a little confidence. I am getting better performance and my index is starting to move down. I absolutely love the feel of these clubs. My low 90s are becoming high 80s.

Customer Service

No need to use it.

I also tried the new Titleist oversized clubs for the mid to hi handicapper (over 100 golfballs each) and got identical performance but with a $200 difference in price.
