Cleveland HiBore Irons

Cleveland HiBore Irons

DESCRIPTION

The new Cleveland HiBore irons. 3-PW set with a large club face, and an even larger back. The clubs look a bit unusual at address, but really hit the ball well. They have a nice soft pop on contact and whether heel, toe, or sweetspot, shots eem to always go straight. I havent been able to get them out on the range or course since its been in the 30's lately here, but as far as feel goes they're great. If your in the market for a set of super game improvement clubs you owe it to yourself to check these out. They are very similar feeling to the Nike Slingshot OSS in my opinion.
Cant comment on distance as of yet, but Im more focused on getting a clean straight shot anyways. Its a great time to be in the market for a set of irons as a mid to high handicapper. SO MUCH to choose from.
These can be had for $599 in steel almost anywhere, some places a bit cheaper.

Model Reviewed: Cleveland HiBore hybrid IRONS - S flex graphite

These are worth a SERIOUS look for those who don't break 80 consistently. Easily the best overall set of irons I've ever owned.

I demoed the graphite S-flex version via GolfClubDemo.com and had to have them. The long and mid irons were SO MUCH MORE EASY to hit solid, high, and straight versus my RAC HTs. I gained about 5 yards per club vs the HTs. Since getting these three weeks ago I've hit some of the greatest shots of my life with the 3,4,5,6 irons. Played today and stuck a 4 iron to 7 feet on a 183-yard par 3 ( I've NEVER come so close to the pin on that hole).

Sadly, the PW and 9 iron are not as exceptional as the 3-8 irons. The HiBore PW and 9 had a hollow, clunky, un-soid feel about them, although they performed as well as my RAC HT 9 and PW.

I discovered that you can special order through any retailer a broken set that comes directly from Cleveland - so I traded my RAC Hts in for the HiBore 3-8 irons. Picked up a 43 degree Cobra S9 PW on ebay to fill out the set (the HiBore 8 iron is 37 degrees and I reshafted the S9 PW with a high kickpoint Dynamic Gold SL steel shaft which helps make up for the 6 degree difference).

FYI, I've owned for over a year the original 22 degree Cleveland HiBore HYBRID (NOT THE IRONS) and really do like it, but I must say the 21 degree HiBore 3 IRON and the 24 degree HiBore 4 IRON are easier to hit and better performers than the original 22 degree HYBRID.

Lastly, I purchased through Golf Galaxy a set of HiBore iron covers for $40. They work just fine and are not a real hassle to take off/ put on. Another option is to take some clear 3M packing tape and cover up the inverted crown portion to protect the finish. As I'm typically lazy and like buying golf stuff, I opted for the head covers.

These are truly handicap-lowering irons that point to the future of iron design.

Easily the best irons I have ever played. You can believe all the other rave reviews. The Hi bore irons are easily 10 yards pnger per club. They seem to roll forever. I bought my set on Ebay for $485 3-pw and sw. I later bought the dw which is a 50 degree wedge. All the clubs are very easy to hit. The surprise club was the sw (55) which is better for bunker play than by Cleveland Cg10. I have played Callaway BB and Ping's but these make golf easy. I'm 54 and got the graphite regular flex. After playing these I went back to Ebay and got a Hi Bore XL driver which also rolls forever. You won't find an easier set to play.

Irons are very playables-set up with a slight draw.Seem longer than any irons I have played. No twisting and good confidence factor.
Downside is that these irons due to the paint chipping look very old in your bag-like an old broken down set of clubs. Cleveland Hibore iron covers are expensive and a pain to take off and put on.And really the appearance problem lies with Cleveland golf. The appearance of these clubs after a short period of time has stopped alot of my fellow club members from buying them.

I shoot consistently in high 80s low 90s and have played off and on for 20 plus years. My game could be characterized as mostly mediocre with moments of brilliance. My previous set of clubs were Ping Eye 2 Black dots. On a whim I tried the hibores at a local golf shop and I was impressed with the consistency and the big sweet spot, especially the 3 and 4 irons. I shopped around and ended up buying them with the Cleveland XL Driver.

This week I took them out for their maiden voyage and shot the second best game of my life (86) at Torrey. I was able to play fades and draws that I never was capable of. I was sticking greens with the 3 iron from 200 yards out. I had a blast! My confidence with the long irons is through the roof, what a feeling! If you are interested in shaving 6 strokes off your game, these clubs are well worth the investment and you wont be disappointed. I would have shot in the low 80s if I could putt. Love these clubs and would recommend them to anyone(and do).

A very good hydbrid. Hits balls high, which can be a problem with people who lack speed and power. But works fine for me as I am a strong hitter. I have tried a few hybrids over the last three years and this one is pretty much the best one I have played with so far. I hit about 170 meters consistently, which is pretty good for a 25 degrees loft. What I like most is that it works very well in rough, probably because of its slightly heavier head. I am very happy with my purchase.

Have played King Cobra Graphite for many years...mid to high 90's most rounds. Distance has never been a problem for me...accuracy has been. Was looking for a set of clubs to help eliminate my zig-zag golf game...tested Hi-Bores in simulator with the 8 Iron...normally my "crutch" club 150 yds-170 yds. Hit approximately 25 balls...low ball was 154 (mis-hit), all others routinely 170-180 with high being 184...all straight. Simulated on Par 3 8th hole @ Pebble Beach...10 shots all but 2 on the green..all with only a 6 yard run after impact...I AM SOLD!!!! Will be buying them today for my 41st Birthday gift to myself...playing tomorrow and looking forward to hopefully in the 80's

I have always loved playing with my Cleveland Halo Utility clubs (2,4 & 6). My "dream" was to get a set of hybrid irons one day, and I always said, that if someone made them, I would buy them. At the beginning of this season I found out, that Cleveland had made such an iron set. I ordered it, without even haven seen or tried it. And, I must say, they live up to my expectations. Easy to hit, straight and even more distance. I use the hybrid irons as my extra iron set (I normally use blade irons). These hybrid irons make golf even funnier and greater to play.

Took about 3 rounds to get used to them but now im flying. These irons are really straight and soooooo easy to hit.I found that a nice even, average speed swing got the ball up and away very easily.I had been playing the Clevelands TA-5 irons before these and always hit a left to right ball, but with these they go really straight and a little further. The noise at impact was a bit strange, its like hitting a block of wood and you might think you have miss-hit it only to look up and see the ball flying high and staight!! Believe the hype these are brilliant and well worth the purchase.Handicap was 20, now 18 and falling like a lead balloon in a matter of weeks. Get them and enjoy golf again!!

I am really an average golfer who hits the ball fairly well from time to time. In my search of a new set of clubs, I came across the cleveland hibores in my local golf shop. They are the most forgiving golf clubs that have ever been mad. When I make solid contact, there is noway for the golf ball to go anyway but straight. They are an awsome set of clubs and will really make the average golfer much better. As an average golfer, I strongly recommend these clubs because they will make golf much more fun.

I have played with Mizuno irons for many years and was in the process of ordering the Mizuno MX 900's when my brother convinced me to try hitting his new Cleveland Hi-bore iron. I was literally blown away at the distance and accuracy of these clubs. I normally shoot in the low to mid 80's, but the first 5 times that I borrowed his clubs, I was down in the mid to upper 70's. They hit so sweet, long and high. I quickly changed my mind for the Mizunos and bought a set of the Cleveland Hi-bores. I am so glad that I did. I love these irons!!! I can't say enough good things about them.
