theese irons offer much more playability than my old RAC's. initially i played a few strokes worse while adjusting to them. after about 5 rounds i was really seeing a difference. instead of just aiming at the green on long aproach shots i can now pick a specific point on the green with confidence. the ability to hit an easier draw and fade off the grass is a big plus. also you get much more feedback. this could turn off higher handicappers, but i like to know exactly how well i hit every shot. i currently play very low 80's. the angles are lower than older irons so you will hit them longer. this takes a little adjustment.

Customer Service

excellent. i have had my angles adjusted twice now as my swing evololves

clearly these clubs are made for players with experience. compared to others that i've used, these clubs have a HUGE range of shot options.

if your just starting off, they're gonna be pretty hard if u just wanna hit the ball straight and long. if you're pro and like the shot options, then clearly this is the best choice.

shame i got these too early, would probably enjoy them more as my second or third set. but i'm happy TRYING improving my consistancy with these.

oh, i have the reg flex graphite shafts and they're fine with my type of swing. grips are also great and i've had no probs with them (had them 10 months now)

These are the first set of irons that have brought a new found enjoyment to the game for me. I am a 7 hdcp and bought these with Project X shafts and love them. Even when my swing is a little out of groove I can still play the ball cleanly. The Project X shafts are by far the engine of the clubs and the greatest shaft that can be installed in any iron. These irons play well for almost any swing. I have a very descending swing angle and my father has more of a sweeping swing. These work great for both types. Far and away the best Callaway has ever made. Hard to believe there IS a club that can feel great, easy AND shape shots to no end. For all you guys who are not satisfied with them maybe try new shaft options before selling them. I know they are a little on the expensive side especially if you add $300 for the Project X shafts but once you get dialed in they are priceless.

Very dissappointed. These clubs are the hardest clubs to hit and the most unforgiving club I've ever played. I've had them a month and would sell them tomorrow for a loss. Not happy at all.
One bad hit for every two good hits.

These are the first forged irons I have ever owned. I can't hit blades very well but like the size/shape of the X tours. I bought these used off eBay for $500. There were 2 issues I delt with: be careful of the lie angle. These irons play flat. I had them bent to 1 degree upright. The other problem was the shafts, Dynamic gold stiff. Some shafts played too soft others too stiff. I had them replaced with Precision rifle flighted 5.5 shafts. Awesome! Overall it took me about a month to get used to the clubs but i'm averaging about 5 more yards per iron than before and a lot more control and feel. If you are an average player who comes down on the ball, doesn't lift it clean, than you should demo these clubs at the range. If you have a flatter swing than I would suggest the Mizunos. By the way, this is the only set where I can hit a 3 and 4 iron consistently.

I've had these irons now for 4 rounds and maybe 400 range balls. When I hit them on the sweet spot they are awesome. When I don't the ball flight seems dead. I don't think you can play these clubs without a lot of practice. Your swing better be in mid season form. Not very forgiving. Off center hits lose 20 yds. But when you hit them good they are awesome.

No idea why anyone could complain about these irons - they have the small head, low offset which better players like, they can be used to shape the ball, they give feedback on off-centre hits, they're longer hitting than certain Mizuno and Taylormade irons, but most importantly, they let you get away with it on the occasions you don't hit from the centre of the club. This last point is important for everyone who plays golf, from the 28-handicapper through to Phil Mickelson. Why use unforgiving blades and punish yourself for no good reason? Do you think (mistakenly) that if you keep hitting unforgiving clubs one day you'll learn to only hit from the tiny sweetspot? Give yourself a chance to score well, even on the days when the swing isn't perfect. If you can afford them - buy these irons!

I have been playing at golf since 1977. It was not until 2003 that I took a serious interest in my game. I have been averaging 35 rounds a year (not bad by Michigan standards) for the past 3 years and countless balls stuck at the rock pile. I now shoot in the low 80's most of the time. If I could throw out the usual double or triple or worse for one hole per round I could be in the 70's.
I have been playing the X tours for the last 15 rounds plus I have hit about 700 range balls with these irons. What I have found is that these clubs bridge the gap between a true blade and a game improvement iron. They have a larger sweet spot than the average blade yet they still have the ability to tell you when your swing is not quite right. That is why I chose this particular iron. I have not noticed any loss in distance. I am hitting my 8 around 160. By moving the ball back 2 or 3 inches I can reach 170. If I move it up 2 inches I can send it very high for 150. The feel on the sweet spot is not so much a dead feel but is similar to when you hit a baseball on the sweet spot of a wood bat. It is fluid. You know immediately that you have struck it well.
With these clubs you will want to spend some time at the range as the placement in your stance will yield very different results.

Customer Service

I have never used any companies customer service. I always go back to Golfsmith or Carls where I bought the equipment and they take care of the situation for me.

After owning these clubs for one month, I can honestly say I am very satisfied with these irons. A general opinion is that people who are beginning golfers should use game improvement irons to begin with. Well, my opinion is that players irons will teach me. August 2007 will mark my third year as a golfer. My current handicap is 12.7 and with these irons, I will be down to at least 9-10 at the end of this Minnesota season.

I don't like the large top lines in the game improvement and have traded in my Callway X-18 Pro Series irons solely for that reason. Well, the top bevel and the sandblasted area make these irons look like players irons. I upgraded from the Ping i3+ blades to these ones. Like others I lost some distance but gained and added yards once I began hitting them the way they are meant to.

These X-Tours are more forgiving and the ball flight that is both accurate and predictable. This means closer to the pin for me. I cannot believe some of the shots I made that I could not with with previous irons. I can draw and fade upon demand and know where the ball will land. That makes golf more exciting for me!

Customer Service

Not used yet but considering sending in my 4 iron for reshaft with a graphite stiff flex.

Awesome clubs. I used to play Titleist 690 MB but I was looking for a more forgiving club without sacrificing the feel of a forged iron. I tried a lot of models before getting these Callaway X tours. Simply the best. Not a coincidence they are so great since they have been designed by Roger Cleveland. If you are a skilled iron player looking for the best of all worlds, give the X tour a try. You'll keep them.
