To preface, I am a 6 handicap. I play 2 x per week and average 275+yards w/driver, 155-160 w/8 iron. My mistakes tend to me a big hook.

I have really enjoyed these clubs for the past month. I have recently played TM Rac lt2. Before that, the Mizuno Mp30's. The Callaways are MUCH better. The rac's always wanted to overdraw/hook. With the Callaways I can hit fades, draws, high and low. They are also about a club longer for me. The long irons are fantastic. I can hit a 3 iron again, which I haven't touched in a year. The first hole at my home course is a 545 yard par 5. My first round with these irons, I had 240 in. I dedided to hit the 3 iron to be safe and I was on the front edge in two. Awesome clubs. I have s300 shafts and have not had any issues with ballooning. They do launch higher in the long irons but they are easy to control and if you want to hit them lower it just takes a minor adjustments.

I recommend them for anyone with a consistant swing who wants a club with a little forgiveness. You won't be disapointed

I love the look of the club and could not wait to get them. Now I can't wait to get rid of them....a full two clubs shorter than any club I have ever owned. Ball ballons big time. Tried to trade them after 3 rounds. Paid $1000 and have been offered $360 in trade.....worse than a car

WOW...some interesting reviews here. I decided to get serious about the game about six years ago. MN winters don't give us a lot of time...played hogan apex plus for 4 1/2 seasons and took my game from 110's to mid 80's....thought I needed a change and went to ping G2's and moving to reg shafts from stiff... my game went to...well you know...had decided to buy my hogans back when I found a set of x tours at a local shop 5-pw with rifle project x shafts and as close to a new set as one could imagine...my wife was along and an early christmas gift was mine after some serious haggling with the manager. I cannot understand a negative review of these...with the exception of looking up because I wanted to watch the shot, I would have shot the lowest nine hole score of my life the day after thanksgiving with no warm up and only one trip to the dome to hit a bucket a week earlier. Don't pass these up if you get a chance...

The last reviewer(bjdrivers) should base a review on more than a demo session. He comments were some of the lamest I have ever read.Very junvenile review.I have played 15 sets of top of the line OEM irons over the last 10 years.MP30,MX23,Hogan Apex,1025Ms,black Revs,X-12s,etc,etc.The Xtours are the most unique irons made because the combine the best attributes of feel, looks, playability, forgiveness of the previous sets and roll them into one set.

Demo'd these at the range for the heck of it. Didn't like them. They might be forgiving for a "player's club" but that's all they are. They are for 80's shooters who want to look like a scratch. they have thick toplines & soles and a cavity. Give me a break. Callaway should give up on making a player's club. I play the Titleist dci 962b's they are sweet.

I recently bought a set of callaway x-tour irons with the superlite stiff shafts. I dont have any problems with the ball ballooning off of the club and i love them. I know they dont look like a true blade, but they go farther and still have forgiveness. I absolutely love the distance i get with these clubs and would rather have these than a true blade. They go far with the tour club feel.

I have to agree with the previous poster. All I could hit with these irons were high spinning, balooning shots as well. Also tried a reshaft and that didn't help. The feel was also pretty average at best and the thick sole was not to my liking.

I bought a set of XTours three weeks ago for 1000 and just today I traded them in for a set of Titliest 735s for a 400 loss. XTours are the biggest waste of money for the good player. They are definitely NOT a real player's club. If you don't want to work the ball and if all you want to hit are ballooned shots, then go ahead and get them. If you're a good golfer who strikes the ball on-center, go with something else. Because of the trade-in, I ended up paying 1200 for the Titelist 735s which retail at 800, but I'm very happy to feel a pure iron in my hand again. Don't believe those who say that a Project X shaft helps the X Tours out; whatever shaft you put in those, you WILL balloon the ball and be very disappointed. Even when you hit the X Tours on center, the feel is not pure. They will help you out if you miss-hit the ball, but that should never be a good golfers mentality.

I had a set of Titleist blades that I thought I hit well. BUT it didnt show in my scores, when I didnt put a good swing on them they missed short or badly offline. So after reading all the reveiws I bought a set of X Tour irons on Ebay with the SL S300 stiff shafts and they really are excellent clubs. $1000 retail is too much so used for half price is fine with me. They are forgiving but not overly, miss hits still get there and tour long ! The 3 and 4 irons are long, like 210 - 230 yds !! I also found that when I did miss off the toe I could feel it, the ball still went 90% of the way still in the fairway. Another reveiwer wrote that he found he was aiming at different parts of the greens and getting there SO with that in mind when I played I have found its true. VERY accurate. Buy them, you'll love them !
