I used a set of Tommy Armour 855s for 13 years and decided on a new set of Callaway X20NG. I've hit them several rounds now and love them. There seems to be more weight in the clubhead than the 855s and there is very smooth feedback. I'm now able to drop at least one club for the same distance. (ie...used to be 6 iron, now it's a 7)
I'm more than pleased with the Callaways and would recommend them to anyone.
Handicap 3/.1

I had never purchased clubs for myself. I alway recieved hand downs from my friends who are better golfers than me. The last set that I got from a friend were the Tommy A 845's and they more geared toward a blade club than a game improvement club.
I did some reserach and ended up finding the X-20's on sale at Martin's PGA store in Myrtle Beach for $299 so I bought them. I saw instant improvements to my game as my shots were more solid and if I didn't strike the ball perfectly they were more forgiving. I used to avg between 95-100 but for the first time I am avg between 90-95 with the occasional round in the 80's. Thank you Callaway!!!!
Now what can you do about finding me more time to play golf?!?!

What can I say I love these clubs. I have had these clubs for a while now and came across this site and said I'll write something. These clubs are designed not to have to put all your might into them unlike the top flite the other guy on here wrote about which are a starter set made by caiiaway owned company. The trick to these clubs are not to over swing and be smooth on your follow thur swing. After having used ping clubs for years I thought it was time for a change and these put my ping to same. No matter if your using callaway or what you just have to pay attention to what your doing and learn to use the club.

I bought these clubs preowned last week and have already played two rounds. I come from Cleveland TA 5,which I used for over nine years.

Let me tell you that for a single digit golfer like me these Callaways with Uniflex shaft have improved my iron game dramatically. I hit way longer than with the Clevelands, I can handle punch shots very easily and I can swing at the ball with all I have without fear to miss.

The only drawback so far is it isn't so easy to fade or draw as with the Clevelands.

Anyway, I recommend these clubs to whoever wants to get longer but without sacrificing playability. Best clubs I've ever owned, and the seem to stay in my bag for a long time

Bought these a week ago and have been to the range 3 times. I have mixed thoughts on these irons. When hit squarely the 7,8,9 irons pick up an extra 5 yards max. The low irons I cannot hit at all and the 6,5,4 irons all have the same yardage when hit square. I also slice more than with my Big Berthas and half of my shots are miss hits with the x-20's. The ball flight seems way too high especially with the low irons. I am hoping after playing with them for several months I will get used to them and hit better. If so, I will write another review.

Haven't used it yet. The X-20's seem very well constructed.

About 2 months ago i decided i was going to join my schools golf team. I am NOT an amature , just don't like football which runs in the same season. I bought these clubs for around $600. Best clubs i have ever used. Very forgiving! you will love them!

So yesterday I replaced my first set (top flite rebels) with a set of Callaway x20 NG's. Took them to the range right away and couldn't hit a damn thing. Was VERY VERY frustrating.

So today I take them back to the range, but I start out with my old irons, I was hitting the irons fine, hitting greens, nice trajectory etc, so I grab the new x20's and just keep duffing, slicing, and making awful contact.

Not only do they feel really heavy compared to my cheap top flites, when you do make good contact, the golf ball feels like your smacking a rock.
My Top flites feel like butter when I hit them compared to the callaways, that's sad.

Man talk about frustration!, anyone ever go through this with a set of new irons?

I've recently gotten into golf and I decided to pick up a decent set of clubs to replace a very old hand me down set from my father. I am in love with these clubs after my first game with them. I was hitting farther and more accurate right off the bat with these. I let my more experienced friends try them on the range afterwards and they too gave them praise. They all liked the fact that they were fairly forgiving irons.

I had been a long time fan of teh Nike NDS/Ignite clubs and thought I would never switch to another manufacturer. That was until late last year when I demo'd the X-20s. Extremely soft feel on contact, the cavity back provided me greater forgiveness on miss hits and with the greater weighing toward the heel, made it feel really natural to swing. I have been able to drop 10 strokes per round and increased my distance by about 20 to 30 yds with my mid range irons. Great clubs for the money.
