After playing three years with an old set of Wilson 1200 blades i decided to get a new set. At first I thought i might like the new King Cobra SS. I didn't. A friend, and golf pro told me that i was good enough to play forged clubs, he lent me a set of Hogan Apex Edges. Didn't like them. Then i found the x-14, loved them. I play them an inch long and two degrees upright. Warning!!! These clubs are long, 8 iron 175 yards, 4 iron 250. Straight as an arrow, high ball flight not for everyone. Limited work ability. Good(yes good) feedback, you know when you hit the sweet-spot. Execellent club for all handicaps!!

They were customer made with A flex and 2 degree flat. They are the easiest set to hit, straight, and far. My 3 iron from tee goes 180 to 210 yards in calm days. Middle irons are my guys. They are pretty accurate around 5 to 15 feet range of the pin. I like they a lot. They are superb scoring clubs in my bag.

I got these irons when i was 13, i liked them a lot. A after improving my game to an 8.4 handicap i found that these are not for me. They go far, but when it comes to playabilty they are the worst. You want to hit a fade...hook into the woods. They only hook.

Got the steel shafted X-14's (lefty) off of golf club exchange, had been used for 1 round, looked brand new to me. Previously had played Taylor Made LCG's, graphite. Been playing in the mid 90's for about 3 years with no noted improvement. Took about 6 round to get used to these clubs, they are as straight as straight gets, used to have to aim for the right side of the green (lefty again), now I have to aim dead on the pin, no fade no draw, just straight. Also distance is amazing, used to hit the TM 7 iron 150, now I hit the Callaway 8 iron from 155. Can't say how satisfyed I am now that I have them figured out of direction and distance, great clubs and well worth the money. I haven't seen a problem with feedback, the CWS shafts have a nice kick to them when you pure it. Anyway, today with these clubs, I posted an 84, for me, an all time low.

I recently bought the CALLAWAY X-14 clubs and am very satisfied. I was using the Mizuno SURE irons earlier and loved those clubs but was not able to hit the long irons with any level of consistency. The X-14's have changed all that for me. I am hitting the long irons long and straight and for some reason the club face design has given me more confidence at address. The ball trajectory and the carry is perfect for my game. I never could get the required trajectory out of my SURE's. I had a tendency to hit rather low & flat shots often. The weight of X-14's is great. The slight drawback that I can think of is in the feedback. It is not as easy to tell if you have hit the sweetspot or not. But every shot seems to head towards the target so I don't really care. I have heard several reviewers complain about the workability of these clubs. Honestly at my level of play (trying to break 80), if I can hit straight and get the distance I require I can do away with the supposed "workability". Besides, don't most golfers have natural workability in their swings? Come on, all of us know how to slice (oh sorry "CUT") the ball and hook (sorry "DRAW") the ball. We don't need any special clubs for workability. :) Cheers !!

If you're trying to groove your stroke or you have the tendency to hit off-center shots, the X-14's are the irons for you. Due to my height (and reach), I had these custom ordered (2 degree upright and +1/2 inch). Though I enjoy these irons, I find that they don't have as much feedback as my old Hogan Apex's. I'm actually in the process of switching back to Hogan with the Apex Edge Pro's.

Customer Service

Callway Customer Service is incredible. Had the hozzle separate from the shaft while hitting out of the rough (really, really rough) and they fixed it at no charge. No better service in the industry.

Tho diferent things. If you play near 90s or higer, these are excelent irons. The easier irons I've played. Long and straight. But if you can play your irons with consistency and can play in the lower 80s or in te 70h plase change your X-14 rigth now. There are a lot of clubs that perfom better, with more solid feel, and more accuracy.
