These are excellent. Straight, long and very forgiving. Had the 990's before, these were also good clubs but could be unforgiving when my swing wasn't ON. I've probably hit more SOLID 3&4 iron shots in the last 2 weeks than I did with the 990's in 2 years. These X14 (Stiff Rifles) are obviously a better fit than the 990's (R400 Sensicores) for my swing.

I purchased these irons on June 15th to replace the Callaway X-14 I had been using for a few months. Since that time my handicap index has dropped from a 14.8 to a 7.8. These clubs are the real thing. If you are a mid handicap and are looking for some game improvement irons, check these out. My only word of warning is the stock rifle shaft that they come with. I bought mine with dynamic gold s300 shafts and could not be happier.

Best clubs I have ever played. Just switched from Ping eye 2 this year and after a shot adjustment period have had my four best rounds ever. Mid and low 70's. Clubs are straight, consistant distance and forgiving. Can even work a shot when I need to. Nothing better on the market in my mind.

Best clubs around. Had them for 3 months and have played better every round. Better than the 990's or taylor made crap. If you want a blade, do not buy these, if you are a mid level player who wants to get better, get fitted for a set immediatly.

Callaway X-14 Pro Series w/ X-Stiff flex, Constant Weight Rifle Shafts.

I decided try these clubs based upon the claims that they were forgiving; yet, they provided blade-like feedback and workability. After all, nobody hits the ball absolutely “pure” every single time.

Playability: Nice set of sticks for the golfer who needs (or wants) A LOT OF FORGIVENESS and does not demand consistency in shot shaping. These clubs are so forgiving that shot shaping requires too much club and/or swing manipulation. This requirement for excessive manipulation results in unacceptable shot dispersion patterns and can complicate scoring. Although shot distance does not seem degraded (5-iron/195 – 200 yds.), regardless of ball placement and/or hand positions at impact, the launch angles seem exceptionally high. Notwithstanding the foregoing, even with a high launch angle, the pitching wedge seems to impart a profound amount of spin on the ball. This is a real plus on front and middle pin placements, but can result in problems with back pin placements (especially those that are set on an upper tier, or on a down-sloping incline).

Aesthetics: Having played blades (Mizuno MP-14s) for the past year, the appearance of the X-14 Pros seem bulky and more racket-like, rather than a fine instrument. For most golfers, particularly those who are used to looking at larger top-lines and offsets, these factors should not be considered an issue.

There are two outstanding features about this set that did truly impress me. First, the Constant Weight Rifle Shafts are solid (These shafts are GREAT). Second, the D2 swing-weight is well maintained throughout the entire set.

These sticks are of Good Quality and Workmanship - BUT - They definitely not a players club. In my opinion, Callaway should drop all verbiage that relates to “blades” or “blade-like” and market these clubs as effective tools for mid- and perhaps lower handicap players. I would recommend the Callaway X-14 Pro Series clubs to any player who, on average, shoots 75 – 85.

The best club a low handicaper can have.
wish everyone could try it and see the difference between those clubs an their old irons. I got the x-14 pro series iron with Stiff Constant weight rifle shafts. A lot of feeling and precision.
The sound and feeling when you hit the ball is the best you can have. Im not playing with standard grips becouse i didn't like them but thats nothing to cry about becouse the clubs are so good so if you buy the clubs you also can change grip. The clubs are worth every single dollar.

These clubs look nice but feel like lead pipes compared to regular X14s. The rifle shafts and hard grips inhibit feel. Every shot was a dull thud even when hit solidly. The higher swing weight made them harder control. Traded for regular X14s with graphite shafts and am much happier.

I've been a low 70's golfer for years. Having moved to graphite 8 years ago, I have missed the feel of steel. I have tried Cobra, Ping, Mizuno, MaxFli, Taylormade and many others but just couldn't get the mix of offset, shaft, ball flight and stopping power just right - until the X-14 pro series. Workability is excellent. Ball flight is a perfect rising draw. Work both ways with ease. And the offset is minimal (which put me off other Callaway clubs). Purchased 1iron-SW and am one very happy golfer. Try them with an open mind, In my view clubs don't come much better,

This is the only set of Callaway irons that I even considered looking at. The "other" Callways were always "too big & clunky". Not these. I previously owned the 990's, which were great clubs. Only problem was that if I was a little "off", everything was off. I don't get the chance to play as much as I'd like. But mentally, I don't have to be "on" all the time to hit these. They are accurate & forgiving, allowing you to work the ball in both directions. You still have to swing well to hit them - miss and you'll know it. The Rifle shafts are excellent. Go out and try them. These clubs may not work for everyone but they work for me - and in end, that's all that matters. Next stop, the 80's....
