I put them away in favor of some 1990 Eye2+''s. I like the eye2+''s and I had not even so much as glanced at the X14 pros. I was cleaning the eye2+''s last night and went to compare the ping 7 iron with the pro series 7 iron. I took out the 7 iron and then I got out the 5 iron and the 9 and then I got out the 8 and then before I knew it the Pings were out of the bag and the X14 pro series was back in. So as far as magnetic bag attraction goes they score a 5. They worked well before I "hibernated" them so i don''t see any reason why they won''t be stellar again.

i have changed to these clubs because my original x14s didnt give me the control i now need in my game, now i am striking the ball better these clubs are really helping to lower my handicap. i tried te t.m 300 forged blades but i decided i needid a little more forgiveness. the pro series gives me that added forgiveness but also ther is very little offset, something i was fighting against in my old x14s i would highly recommend these clubs to anyone who is a mid hcp and wanting to get better but do not want to be punished on a slight miss hit.

Easy. That''s the best word to descibe these irons. Easy to hit, easy to score, easy to look at, easy to like. They''re long, straight, and forgiving. Best of all, I''ve cut about 8 strokes off my game since switching to these. They feel great, but different from forged players sticks.

First of all, let me start be saying that if I had to fight someone bigger than I am, I probably would pick up a big stick in order to even up the odds. So with these X-14 Pro''s, I am surely able to even the score with so-called serious golfers. I''m only 5''6", but the length I get from these irons, you would think that I was 6''6"! I think the best aspect of these irons that differentiate them from the Original Big Berthas and the X-12 Pro''s (both whom I''ve played) is the FEEL. The x-12''s were also long and forgiving, but the difference is very noticeable with the X-14''s. They seem easier to swing too--if that''s possible. As with any golf equipment you might buy, demo, demo, and demo again. But with these clubs, I only had to demo them once!

Customer Service

The best customer service I''ve ever had to deal with among ANY other company! Note to titliest--when will my putter be returned?

I''m a 15 yr. old and played these irons all this year. I demo-ed a set with stiff Rifle shafts several times and loved them. I got a set with regular shafts and brought my handicap index down from 10 to 2.4. I also had a hole-in-one during a high school match (7 iron 178 yards downhill) and finishes of 2nd, 3rd and 4th on the junior tour. So I''ve had a pretty good year with these babies. My only complaint is direction as I usually hit the ball solid but not as strait as I expect. Many of my buddies play Mizuno T-Zoids and say I should switch to a real club. Hmmmmm.

I wrote my original review july 2001 and praised these clubs and rated them a 5. It''s now september and I''ve played quite a few rounds. I''m one of those golfers that is constantly looking for better clubs than what I''ve got. So I went and looked at the taylor made 300''s and played a round with them to see if they were better, then I tried the muzuno''s, then the titlist. None of them could come close to the calloways. These clubs have allowed me to take a smoother swing. The wedge is a 130 yards if I torque it up and a smooth 120 if I maintain good tempo. The 5 iron is now a 180 yard club and this is swinging with good control. My handicap has dropped from an 85 when I first purchased these clubs to a 79. The rifle shafts have been perfect and are consistent throughout the set. I think my search is over. It''s clear that there are a multitude of clubs out there that will work for different types of players. Calloway has built the one that suites me perfectly.

These are really great clubs! The 2-4 irons are incredible, I don't believe how easy it is to get the ball up and on line to the target. Mishits are punished in distance only.
I am a low 80's/high 70's shooter and find I can work the ball almost as easy as I could with my MacGregor blades. These irons don;t have near the feel of the MacGregor's, but I couldn't care less! A nice easy swing produces a satisfying feel of solid contact and the ball absolutely explodes off of the clubface. These clubs are at least 1/2 club longer than my old clubs.
It seem that heel misses are punished much worse than toe misses. Also, I find these clubs have transformed my 5 yard draw/hook into a very nice high trajectory ball that falls, ever so slightly, to the right. However, if I want to draw/hook the ball, these irons are more than accomidating.
I must admit I prefer the looks of the Titleist and MacGregor (the MacGregor's are beautiful!), these clubs don't look that bad. I'm just more of a traditionalist.
It has also taken some time getting used to the thicker topline of these irons compared to my blades. I can't imagine what the X-14 (non pro) must look like!
I didn't know how I would like these Rifle constant weight shafts. I've always played True Temper Dynamic Gold S300. These shafts (in stiff) are great for me, I like them better than the TT DG's.
I would agree that most 90 shooters/slicers should look elsewhere due to the smaller clubface and reduced offset, but all other golfers must put these irons on their "Must-Hit" list.
But take your wallet, becuase you won;t leave the range without them.
I'm giving them 4 stars for value becuase they are, after all, one of the most expensive clubs made. Not that they are not worth it, but I wouldn;t call them a value.

I've had these irons for a lttle over a month, and while a may not be of the ability to fully utilize them I still enjoy them a great deal. I haven't played in about 7 years and since starting back up these irons have helped me get back in to the "swing"of things much faster. They are very forgiving and have a great feel. Even though they are marketed as a blade like club, don't be scared of them.
I would like to address some of the comments that I read about these in earlier reviews. Some people write in here that these are good irons but should not be considered for very lowhandicappers or scartch golfers. The reason they give is that they are inconsistent and have low workability. I'm curious then why some of the best players in the world use them, such as Colin Montgomery, Annika Sorenstam, Jesper Parnivek, and even the cowboy himself Charles Howell III. I would guess these players would fall in the very very low handicap range, and they all are able to shape their shots. They potential is obviously there, you just need to find it and use it.

It's hard not to sound like a Callaway shill when describing this club. It's just unbelievable. I've always been a Ping guy (still play i3 woods)but the Callaway rep got me to try the Big Bertha Golds a few years ago. Nice club, very forgiving, but the strong "draw bias" turned my draw into a big, long hook. Club Pro wanted me to try 990a & b. I wanted to like these clubs but I just hated them. When you pure them they feel great but when you don't look out. went to a local range that had every major club and I tried them all. Gave the Ping Blades a good work-out but they came in third to the X-14 Pros and the Hogan Apex's.

The X-14 Pros are more a blade than most Callaways but really aren't by blade standards. They aren't nearly as workable as real blades but they are extremely solid and a fantastic compromise club for everyone but the very best golfers. If you hit a bad shot with this club you put a bad move on it and earned it. You must hit this club just to believe how they feel.

Trajectory is fairly high but distance is perfect. Easy to draw, a little tougher to cut (probably because I've worked hard to get rid of that tendency).

The standard rifle shafts are a marriage made in heaven. I was going to order them with Royal Precision custom shafts (just for fun) but the club fitter said to try them standard first. He was dead on. Plus he fit me nuts on in 15 minutes.

I can't recommend strongly enough paying the price to get them properly fitted. And get dynamic fitted not just in the back of the discount store.

Overall, Callaway hit one out the park with this club. The smoke finish is really trick looking. The wedges are great too (I now carry four). The only downside, and this is really both good and bad, is the grooves are really sharp. If you hit a soft cover ball (like to original Revolutions) you will literally shred the cover off the ball. I've had great luck with Pro V1's but I'm sure some of the thicker covered balls would be fine.

Thanks Callaway for doing your homework and getting this club absolutely perfect.
