Callaway X-12 Irons

Callaway X-12 Irons

DESCRIPTION

The 1998 Big Bertha Irons feature all of the game-enhancing characteristics of the Great Big Bertha Titanium irons in a stainless steel head. The sweet-spot of the club has been increased over the standard Big Bertha iron. The weight has been re-distributed around the club and the center-of-gravity has been lowered to create a more heel-and-toe balanced iron. The top line has also been thinned to make this the most playable club Callaway has ever created. (Price for 3-PW Steel Shaft)

Purchased this set of irons from a golf pro who was testing them out. Fitted with Dynamic Gold shafts which were a definate plus. Within a month of purchase put up consecutive rounds in the high 70s which was unusual. Ever on the lookout for new products, I sold these and purchased some Ping ISI Nickel Irons. In retrospect that was a mistake. Not because of the accuracy but because of the difference in quality of shafts. I am going to try out the new Ping i3 and if they don't do the job I will probably switch back to the X-12.

Excellent clubs which I bought after having tried Fatshafts ( no feel !!), Burners and Honma LBs. Much better control than any of the others. Distance marginally better. Will probably stay with them for many, many years. Though I'm still very tempted by the PING i3s!

I tried these irons because they were a renatl set at the Experience at Koele course on Lanai. Three pars, six bogeys in nine holes. Not bad. What struck me about the irons was the lack of feedback and the thick head lines. But, hey, with nothing worse than bogey, who cares? They seemed to impart a lot less spin than my Taylor Made set (current), so even when greens were missed, they were not missed by much, giving me a good opportunity for up-and-down.

I purchased a set of these before the season started. The first time I was out I couldn't hit them to save my life, After the end of the round I was hitting them rather well. After this last weekend what can I say These clubs are awesome. JUST LIKE ANY OTHER CALLAWAY PRODUCT you do get what you pay for with Callaway. I can hit all the Irons from the wedge to the 3 very well They make me feel confident for the first time Even with the long Irons. They are so forgiving it makes my game more enjoyable.

These irons are great. Really easy to hit. Yes, the top line is a bit thick, but they''re better looking than the Big Bertha irons. The Rifle shafts are excellent. The only other clubs I would trade for these would be the X-14 Pro''s...
