I got these for my older brother, who really likes callaway's products. He shoots in the low 80's & high 70's consistently. The only thing i could really fault the clubs beside the overlly large size is the uniflex steel. My brother has about a 103 mph swing and he says that they are not too whippy. These are good for everyone from the person who can't hit the ball to the person who just wants a decent forgiving club. He is left handed which also makes it diffficult to find good equipment easily.

I play the regular graphite shafts of the 2004 Big Bertha's. The cavity back and the solid engineering of these irons is pure forgiveness. Slightly mis-hit shots are no issue. . The ball flys off the face of the iron and goes high with a soft draw. These are the most forgiving irons I have ever played with. And I have been playing golf for 20+ years. Distance is consistent from each iron. I really can not find any downside to these irons if you are a 10 or higher handicap. Scratch golfers may want irons that the flight of the ball can be worked more than these irons, but for the vast majority of golfers these are great irons. If you are looking for straight, high shot patterns this one will be hard to beat. I have owned my Big Berthas for about 9 months now and have never regreted buying these. I compared Clevelands TA7, X-16's and Taylormades along with these Big Berthas. I hit the Big Berthas much better, so I bought a set. I would be interested in anyone comparing these irons with any other set and finding that the other set plays better than the 04 Big Berthas. . I haven't been able to find any irons better than these.

It has been a turbulent first 18 months for me as an avid golfer. I have become *obsessed* with the game and have tried a number of things to improve my game. After a year of fooling myself and trying to play equipment that was for players at a level or two above my game, I finally to go to a club designed for bogey to double bogey golfers. The rounded, fat shape of the head was off putting at first. On a Friday night after work I spoke to the pro at my local shop and explained where I was at. After spending the whole summer playing mis-fitted Ping G2s (they fit me for +1" green dot - don't get me started), I was ready for anything. He set me up with 5 different 6-irons all standard length and lie. I hit with a McGregor V-Foil (worst!), Titleist OS cavity backs (too hard to hit), X-16s (good but not quite there). It came down to Slingshots vs. Big Berthas. I wanted to hate the Big Berthas when I went out to hit them - not sure why. But, try as I might, I could not hit anything but straight and long. Now, the true test is in the heat of a match: how straight did I hit them? I put such high and straight shots on the greens, I literally laughed out loud once or twice. The size of the head allows you to really feel the weight of the club doing all the work, as opposed to the common mistake us beginners make: trying to swing at the ball too hard. The balance also made me very comfortable with keeping a feather light grip on the club - which has been equally important in straightening shots too, I am certain. Overall, my advice on these is: If you are a high handicapper frustrated by your irons, admit to yourself that you are not yet the great golfer you want to be. You are not ready for the clubs that allow you to work the ball - we're not there yet! Plus, it's Callaway so you get a brand with tons of experience and a set of clubs designed for our game. You will absolutely love these clubs. They will improve your iron-play the first round out. I am sure of it. Take it from me, I have tried a ton of different sets. This one is, by far, the best one for someone shooting higher than bogey golf. And, on top of that, they are around $100 less than the Nikes!

I bought them at Anchorland Golf in East Hanover, NJ. Awesome shop. Bob helped me find the club right for me and my game.

Excellent club, very forgiving. These clubs will hit high and straight. For me they pointed out how bad my setup was. I am definately hitting 1 club longer than my Top Flite Tours, I switched from graphite back to steel shafts. My swing speed was faster with the BB's than any of the other clubs I tried and felt very solid.

I recently purchased a new set of Callaway 2004 Big Bertha Irons and all I can say is WOW!! What fun it is to be able to hit long and even mediumn iron shots again. I am a Senior Golfer and my previous set of irons were Callaway 96 irons with graphite shafts. I play approximately twice a week and can not tell you the last time I used my old 3,4, or 5 irons before I got these new Berthas. With these new irons, I use the 4 and 5 irons every round. (The standard set does not include a 3 iron. It includes 4 - 10 plus a 50 degree wedge) They are excetionally easy to hit and they feel wonderful. On the course, I feel like I am twenty years younger with these irons in my hand. These clubs look wonderful and they are long and straight. Miss hits almost always advance the ball and usually much further than you would imagine. I now hit a 6 iron 150 yards and where I was using a 7 wood. If you thinking about getting a set of these irons I would recommend that you do it today! They are the best club purchase I have every made and after playing golf for forty-five years that is saying something.
