Finally got my set a few months ago, and I can say with some certainty that these clubs have significantly improved my game. The PW through 8 are magic. I was around a 7 handicap before I got these and I wouldn't be surprised if I'm down to a 4 or 5 by August. The distance isn't great, but the altitude I get on the ball allows for soft landings. I don't mind taking an extra club since I usually have fairly solid distance.
If I miss them at all, it is usually with a slight push...which doesn't get you in nearly as much trouble as a nasty snap hook. It took me awhile to dial in the longer irons, but the shorter ones were targeted from the start.

Great looking...overpriced, but worth it.

Let's face it-we're not all pros-we just enjoy the game. So enjoy it with the best equipment. The Callaway FTs are expensive, no doubt, but boy are they sweet. Great distance, control, miss-forgiving (min. vibration), nice flight, good looks, good grips. If you've got the coin, this is an investment that should last many, many, years. My score is actually going down thanks to these--and I'm not getting any younger. You've got to play these clubs! (3-PW--I prefer different wedges-a variety)

Best clubs I've ever hit. I've owned Miura's, 3 sets of Pings, Titleists and now these and I just cant get over how they feel. I feel no vibration at all and my distance is right on. I too, was very reluctant to go to Callaway view them as far too corporate but I was wrong.

Customer Service

Fantastic. Ordered them with the wrong shafts for me and they had them back to me in a week at no charge.

Traded in my Mizuno MX-19's with great trepidation, but after hitting these I know I made the right decision, even with the ridiculous price difference! These clubs line up over the ball amazingly well, and I feel very little vibration on contact. Distance control takes a little getting used to, about 10-yards longer than I was prior to using them. Off-center hits don't kill you direction-wise, but your distance will suffer slightly. Straightest clubs I have every hit, I have resisted trying Callaway in the past, but I am glad I decided to switch!

Callaway keeps coming up with clubs that produce more consistent shots. Last year I switched to the FT5 driver (stiff/ draw), and watched my drives become longer (by 30-40yards) and straighter. This year I traded in my fusion irons for a short set of ft irons (stiff graphite) (5-PW).

The ft irons are narrower at the top, longer in the blade, and weighted slightly more in the toe and heal. The result was great: tremendous spin, ridiculous height, and about 5-10 yards more in distance for each club.

I read with interest another review here which disliked these clubs before I tested them. The other reviewer complained that he felt "vibration." My experience was just the opposite. The clubs seem to scoop the ball and glide right through the impact. I also was able to work the clubs into both draw and fade shots simple by shifting my hands at address. At a normal address, the clubs hit very straight and the balls spin dramatically to a short stop.
These clubs are expensive, but well worth it.
Nice job Callaway!!!!

I also purchased the new FT draw 3wd and 5wd. My 5 wood went consistently 230-240 yards, which for me is about 20 yards longer than the old ERC woods.

3-4 handicap golfer who has hit a wide variety of different irons (Ping I-10, Callaway X-forged, Mizuno MP 60, 57 and 32 to name just a few. These Callaway FT irons are FANTASTIC! Extremely long and very easy to hit. I put at least ten yards on to every club. Excellent playability with exceptional feel although not as sensitive as forged blade, but still quite good. Nice appearance, especially the top edge. No problem with thermoplastic inserts. If you're a low to mid handicapper and looking for a club that's easy to hit, responsive and LONG....you need to take a serious look at the 2008 Callaway FT irons. I did and dumped my beloved Pings and my Mizunos (I cant believe I'm saying this)!!

I purchased these irons on 1/22/08 and I am now returning them. I received the clubs in four days and immediately went to the range. The results on day one were poor, the results on day two were poor. The results after twenty seven holes were poor. This is the evaluation of the clubs I received:

Shots struck squarely in the center of the face produced a definite vibration.

Shots struck slightly thin were extremely harsh.

Loss of distance ranged anywhere from twenty to fifty yards depending on the club.

No matter how well struck, the face just felt dead.

I have played Hogan Apex blades for two years and expected more forgiveness and distance from the FT Irons. I received neither. I have played golf for more than forty years and must unfortunately say these are the worst clubs I have ever owned. Maybe the set I received was just a lemon, I don't know. I cannot recommend these irons to anyone. I am a Callaway person and was extremely disappointed. These clubs are very expensive ($1299.95 a set). I am now getting the Callaway X-20 Tours and will write a review after due evaluation.

Customer Service

I purchased the clubs from GolfSmith. The store would not take the clubs back. I contacted GolfSmith in Austin Tx. and was immediately taken care of. Kudos to the GolfSmith home office.
