Ben Hogan Apex Plus Irons

Ben Hogan Apex Plus Irons

DESCRIPTION

From Ben Hogan Golf: "When Ben Hogan introduced the first forged, perimeter-weighted irons in 1989, he built the club some said, "couldn't be made." The "impossible" combination of perimeter-weighted forgiveness and forged feel. This experience, technology and innovation shapes the Ben Hogan Apex Plus. Many golfers have aspired to play a Ben Hogan Apex. Now, the perimeter-weighted Apex Plus provides an appreciably larger sweet spot across the face of the club, from heel to toe. Off-center hits will go longer, be more accurate and just happen to "feel" a lot better, too."

I have been playing Tommy Armour 845's for almost 10 years and decided I wanted to upgrade my equipment. The 845's are a great club but the Apex Plus are superior. When I hit the 2 clubs side by side, the 845's feel like rocks. I had the shanks problems as described by previous posts with the Hogans, but I slowed down my lower body action, added a little bit more wrist and hand action and now my shots fly straight and true. The distance isn't that much different than the 845's but the accuracy is much greater with the Apex Plus. I purchased these clubs new at a great price on E-bay. If you monitor the auctions, stay paitient, and check out the sellers ratings, you can get a great deal. Overall, these are wonderful clubs if youlove the game and want to improve your game.

Have played two rounds with these new sticks. First round shot a 78 (with a blowup 9 on a par 4) and then a 79 the next day. The best feeling club I have ever hit. Very accurate as well. Just line up and hit them! Distance is about a half club more than my old Titleists. If you are considering new irons you must hit these!

Killer irons. I got mine with the Apex #4 shaft and was slightly worried about them being too stiff. Not so, they are perfect. I have read about the shanks but have yet to hit one with these irons. What I have read that is absolutely true is that the feedback they provide will help you groove a good swing. Feedback is incredible and the touch around the greens makes me wonder why I didn't give up the game using my old AVDP's! These are the best irons I have EVER hit. Period. I am consistenly shooting between 82-85 and I know that my firts sub 80 round is not far away. I swear I am grooving a swing just trying to repeat the famous knife through butter feel that you always hear about. If you want to get better, do yourself a favor and dump the Callaway's, Pings, and all the other game improvements and improve your game the old fashion way, PRACTICE! It will never get old with the Apex Plus's!

I went to the golf store a couple of days ago to try some blades because i've never tried. I pulled the Cleveland ta1s and ta3s and the hogans blew them away. I like the heavy feel of them. i went and hit them the other day and they are amazing, great feel and very consistent. Best deal i have ever made for 399 Brand new. Try this club you will love it, besides the occasional shank.

What a great set of irons. Everything you could ask for in a set of forged irons; workability, forgiveness, distance control, and club feedback. Bought them on Tuesday, and without ever hitting one practice ball I shot my low round of the year so far, an honest and legitimate 81 from the championship tees at a local golf course. To all of the folks at the Ben Hogan Company - Way to go and keep up the good work. I'm forever sold on Hogans.

Not yet so far, and hopefully will never have to.

Replaced my 5 year old Titleist DCI Oversize with these babies and haven''t looked back. Beautiful feel on well struck shots. The head is smaller than the DCI''s and takes a little getting used to. Distance is maybe a little longer but the real difference is in accuracy and feel. The short irons in particular are amazingly accurate. I love the forged look. Jim Furyk and Hal Sutton currently use these.
