Model Reviewed: Crown Jewel Fairway 5W

The CJ Fairway woods are very easy to hit. The 18* 5W is very traditional looking with a medium face height. Mine is assembled with True Temper Lite XL steel shaft in stiff flex. It is 42.25", D4 and 270cpms. This is a real go to club for a 200-210 yard shot. Off the tee or out of the rough it's a club you can count on. As others have commented on the fit and finish on this as well as other ZT clubs is as good as it gets. If you like graphite try the XLT70 series shaft mid kick very high quality shaft that astetically matches the deep blue head which is an added bonus. Bottom line it's hard to go wrong with this wood.

Purchased CJ FW 3/5/7 woods and installed DGLiteS300 on the 3 and DGS300 on the 5/7. Fit and finish on the heads were beautiful, the deep blue paint very attractive and classy. Headcovers were a touch gaudy though. Lie angles seemed fine for my 5''8" frame, not upright as mentioned elsewhere. Face height on the 3wood was 35mm, just tall enough to be effective from the tee but still maintain a low center of gravity. The 5/7 woods were around 33mm, not too shallow. I have a typical driver swing of around 100mph. The 3 wood was my favorite of the bunch though the 5/7 performed well. Trajectory is on the high side for all three and forgiveness is good though not outstanding. Despite the smaller head, I find my KZG 3 wood to be a tad more forgiving. Consistency of the ZT woods was very good, no unexpected high rights.

Model Reviewed: CJ Fairway 15*

I tested a 15* model with a 43.5" Zero Tolerance XLT70 S-flex shaft. As with the other entries in the new ZT line, the clubs looks fantastic. It sets up very well. The club head is just about the right size for me. I feel like I can both hit it off the turf and the tee with ease. I use a 3W mostly off the tee with only very rare fairway shots. In just swinging and feeling the club I was afraid that the S-flex shaft was going to be too loose for me. It *seemed* very light and almost too flexible as I got a feel for it. However, that feeling did not translate into any difficulties as I was initially hitting this club very well. In fact, I actually feel like I need to "step on it" a little more to get the best swings out of it. When swung well, I can feel a confident, controlled kick through the impact zone that feels tremendous. This is the first ZT shaft I''ve used and I think it''s an outstanding product. The club head is very forgiving. Like the ZT Maxima 300, I''ve noted a fade tendency with this head. My best shots go very straight. I haven''t been able to consistently put much of a draw on my shots. Again, my swing tendency with woods is a straight/fade shot so take that observation with a grain of salt. The club feels wonderful - a solid but almost soft/smooth feel on center shots. I rarely hit hit pop-ups off the tee and the general ball flight is just about right. I think I''ve been able to control trajectory more with this club than just about any other wood I''ve hit. The most outstanding characteristic has got to be in distance. My 3W for the past several years has been a steel ZT Aero-Flo (13*) on a 44" Apollo Balistik steel shaft. I am easily hitting longer with this 15* ZT CJ Fairway wood on a 43.5" shaft! I was stunned as I fully expected to lose distance. I would say I average 10-15 yards more on comparable shots with the 15* CJ. I find that amazing! The ZT CJ is also much easier to hit off of the turf. The only negative note I can find - the paint/finish on this club does not seem to be holding up nearly as well as the other clubs. The CJ has noticeable markings from use. I don''t think it''s been treated any differently (they''re in the same bagand I always use headcovers) so I found that a little surprising. Bottom line - the CJ Fairway is in the bag along with ZT

This review is for the Crown Jewel Fairway 3 Wood. I had this club made up with a True Temper Bi-Matrix Reg. Flex shaft and a Winn grip at about D-5 Swing weight. I was totally unprepared for what a treat this club turned out to be. Right out of the box it was Magic, I hit it so well from the first swing! It is a very handsome combo as well, the shaft and head colours complement each other ( deep Blue Metalic ) The feel, accuracy, forgivness, and length are super! I just cannot find anything to knock about this combo( the shaft is a little pricey, but worth it in my view ), I am in the process of getting the 5 & 7 wds. made up as well with the same components. About myself I am 49 yr., 5''11",and about 215lbs. swing speed is about 95-100 mph. I shoot in the 90''s and am slowly but steadily improving( I believe the new woods will greatly assist me in my pursuit of the 80''s )

Club Specs: 210 gram head, 1 deg closed, 56* lie angle, fitted to an XLT-70 regular flex, tip-trimmed to play 1/2 flex stiffer, 43.75" @ D3 swingweight, Golf Pride Tour Wrap grip. The XLT-70 is a new & improved shaft (over the older Power 65 series) that recently became available, and one which I had anticipated with eagerness. I prefer a little heavier shaft with less torque in my fairway woods and the XLT-70 seems to be a perfect fit for what I''m looking for. Performance wise, the club is as I had expected: it feels solid and the ball flight is low to mid-trajectory. I suppose it''s due to the foam-filled head, but when I make contact with the ball, there is no audible metallic sound whatsover, which is just fine by me. From the tee, it''s a great driving club, as I can easily produce a power draw, producing yardages in the 230 to 240 range. The only drawback that I have with this club is that I cannot easily hit fades with it, as it has a built-in closed face angle and a relatively upright angle (a characteristic of all the fairway woods that are out in the market, for which it does not suit my swing). Other than that, this club is a winner

About me:
I am 36. 5'9". My swing speed is around 100mph. I have an handicap index of 11.2. This is my first time trying a Zero Tolerance fairway wood. I have the Crown Jewel Fairway 3-wood with the ZT Power 65 shaft in stiff flex. It is standard loft and lie. It is a perfect match for my ZT Maxima 360 with the same shaft. Both are a beautiful blue. I like it because it ISN'T a shallow faced wood. I like those from the fairway, but I tend to come over the top on the tee. This is where I like the Crown Jewel Fairway. I hit it a solid 230. The feel is the same way. It is solid. It reminds me of my Taylormade Burner Bubble 7 wood. With the 15 degree loft, it is forgiving. I have played about 5 rounds with this club. I have been able to go for a number of par 5's in two because its easy enough to hit confidently. I like it so much that it bumped my original big bertha fairway wood out of my bag.

Model Reviewed: 3 and 5 wood

Zero Tolerance products just keep getting better and better. I had owned the ZT Aeroflo Ti driver, then got the Fairway Master woods, all of which I loved. Then I got the ZT Crown Jewel Classic driver and thought I couldn't be happier. Next thing you know, ZT comes out with the Maxima 360 driver. To match the beautiful blue and chrome of the 360 I picked up the ZT Crown Jewel Fairway woods. I got the 3 & 5. They have the same beautiful blue shine, which blends in well with the deep blue Power 65 R-flex graphite shafts. The heads are deeper than the Fairway Masters, thus inspiring a little more confidence when hitting out of the rough (not as likely to slide under and hit a moon ball). What really impresses me are the feel and the distance I've obtained with these woods. The other day I hit the 3 wood from the tee, then hit the 5 wood for my 2nd shot, and was on the green in two on a long par 5. I two putted for a birdie. Yesterday I hit the Maxima 360 off the tee, then used the 5 wood for a high soft landing approach shot on a dogleg right par 5, where the 2nd shot is over water if you go for it, or else you hit 3 shots to go around. I went for it, and actually hit over the green to the back fringe. The 3 wood feels just as sweet and long. Whereas I have to tee the ball high for the Maxima, where a regular tee is hardly in the ground at all, I tee the ball to where my fingers just brush the grass when using the 3 off the tee, then let it fly! The clubs inspire such confidence I can relax into the back swing and follow through with no sense of effort or oomph to try to milk distance out of the shot. Just swing through where the ball is and zoom, it takes off low and straight down the fairway, with good roll on landing. As much as I liked my Fairway Masters, I like the new ZT CJ Fairway Woods even more. They're in the bag!

Review on the Zero Tolerance Crown Jewel 3 & 5 & 7 Fairway Woods
Player Facts:
Handicap – 15 and moving down
Age – 48
Weight – 190
Height – 6’ 0”
Swing : Straight to slight fade.
Swing Speed – 105-115 range
Specs – Crown Jewel Fairway woods, standard length and lie, with ZT Power 65 S shaft
Appearance – One of the prettiest set of fairway woods you can find.....metallic blue heads with matching blue and black shafts. Comlpiments the ZT Maxima line of drivers.

Feel - Great balance and swingweight in all three.....a pleasure to swing. Solid hit shots feel very very good......confidence boosting.

Set Up - Closed face takes some getting used to, but once the adjusted is made, no problem at all. I played the 3W and 5W a little further back in ball position than normal for me, to avoid pulling the shot left of my target. The club head at address looks very good.

Performance – Fairway shots are the least consistent part of my golf game......helping to keep my index up. My driver and my wedges are my biggest weapons. I usually carry driver, 7wood (Adams Tight Lies) and four wedges. When I do carry a 3wood for a particular course, it's an Adams Tight Lies Tour 15*. I really liked hitting these woods of the tee......great distance and direction. I also played them well out of the rough. Thin fairway lies are still my biggest challenge, but with more playing time with these, I think I could get it right (straight).

Summary – These woods continue the new line of well made, value priced ZT products introduced this year. I wood recommend them to anyone. If you are not as driver dominent as me (ie., you often hit a 3W or 5W off the tee for fairway control) you will especially appreciate these clubs. I will continue to mix mine in with my golf game.....and practice my thin lies on the fairway shots, where my current Adams Tight Lies shine for me. I definitely would use the 3W and 5W more off the tee than I do now, if I had these in my bag.

Review on the Zero Tolerance Crown Jewel 3 & 5wood
Facts on me:
Handicap – 10.1
Age – 29
Weight – 185
Height – 5’ 9”
Swing Tendencies – Play the straight ball, but usually can fade the ball on command. Can only hit a draw about 20% of the times I try. When I miss though, it is usually big ugly hooks undoubted caused by the over the top swing or blocks caused by severe lack of timing. Driving is one of the strong parts of my game.
Swing Speed – Average of 107mph, but the last time I checked it varied from 102-118 in 20 swings.

Specs – Crown Jewel 3(15*) & 5(18*) wood with Power 65 S shaft

Appearance – The Crown Jewel line of fairway woods has the same great look as the Maxima line of drivers. Great looking metallic blue paint that looks classy with standard silver faces. The Power 65 shaft fits the look of the head perfectly making this a combination that is always commented on favorably.

Performance – I have played 3 rounds and had two practice sessions with the Crown Jewel 3 & 5 woods. The three wood is a very easy to swing club with a lot of forgiveness. The ball flight is a little high for my tastes, but I think that is an intentional design feature of the club. This is most likely due to the very low center of gravity. The flight pattern did not seem to have any negative effect on distance though. I was extremely impressed with the amount of carry that it produced. The only time this flight pattern would be a problem is into a significant wind. I would describe the flight as mid-high, not a balloon effect at all. Just a little higher than I am used to. If I put the effort in I was able to get shots to fly lower and land hotter, but the club wants to get up. I think this design feature would make it very easy for anyone to hit.

The five wood of course flies a lot higher due to the loft. Once again the club is very easy to get up in the air and comes down soft. I have never been a big fan of high lofted woods as I am able to hit long irons better for some reason, but I was impressed with the Crown Jewel 5. It has a small head and shallow face which is a requirement for me to enjoy a fairway wood. I leant it to a friend who regularly uses a Callaway Steel Head + for his 5 wood for a better perspective on how the 5 wood would perform in the hands of someone who uses fairway woods a lot. As with any other ZT product that I have let others use he was very impressed. In head to head tests, he found the Crown Jewel more forgiving and easier to get airborne. He didn’t want to believe that it was a better product, but he had no choice. I found that I could hit the ball farther than my current utility club, but was not able to keep the ball down enough and felt that it would be a problem on a windy day.

Feel – Both of the Crown Jewel woods have a very pleasing feel. Well-struck shots have the feeling of swinging through air, while off center hits are easily felt. This factor alone may have been the most impressive item of the woods. Almost a forged blade-like feel, but not quite. Hard to explain, but there was a huge difference between sweet spot contact and heel or toe misses.

Summary – As I said above, I have been extremely impressed with all of ZT’s products to date and these woods are no exception. I feel as though any mid-high handicapper would be comfortable with this style of fairway wood. The three wood would probably work for a low handicap player as well since I found it very easy to work left or right. In fact I found the three wood easier to work than my driver which I find surprising due to the higher loft. The three will make it into my bag some days without a doubt. It is easier to hit than my current three wood. I would probably use my current three wood on heavy wind days though as I find it easier to keep down. The five wood is a great club for a five wood, but I still prefer long irons to high lofted woods so I will probably on put in the bag when I want to do something different.
