Outstanding. Played a t/m 200 steel 15* w/ prolite 35s for ever. As far as Im concerned, the t/m steel fairway metals were some of the best ever. It was time for a change and the 904f is excellent. The new 904f is solid and long. Off the tee, no problem out driving buddies with their jumbo head drivers. Feel is softer than the t/m steel and sounds more muted and less metalic- althoug I do love the sound of the t/m steels when you rip em. I hit this off the tee frequently and again, it is very long. Seems like it has a slightly smalled head than other popualr 3 woods like the mizunos, v steels and clevelands. No problem hitting it off the deck with the speeder stiff. Make sure you get fitted for the right shaft. The head is hot, but with the wrong shaft for your swing, its like putting a 4 cylinder in a new mustang GT. Overall, just an excellent choice for a weapon to hit off the tee on those short par 4's or rip off the deck on a par 5. My 3 wood is one of the most important sticks in my bag, and this one has fit right in. Also, that Titleist herad cover will demand respect from your partners and that is always a good thing, unless you dork it O/B....

The 904 is a vast improvement over the 980 -- which I tried but never bought. The squarer sole doesn't dig as much, leading to cleaner contact. The face is also very, very hot. I originally didn't even give the 904 a though after my experiences with the 980. But I was sick of purchasing good clubs with crappy shafts (and then having to replace those crappy shafts with semi-expensive ones) that I just wanted to buy a club...as is...ready to go. Titleist offers their stock shaft, the YS-6, and the Fujikura Speeder -- all as standards. I opted for the Speeder in stiff based on a recommedation from my instructor (who also happens to be a Titleist rep and fitter). Be sure you can get the ball up first before buying the 904 because the lower CG (as with most Titleist clubs) keeps the ball down. Overall, a very nice club and I would highly recommend it to anyone, especially strong (swing speed 100+ mph) and consistent players.

Very sad to part with my Taylor Made 200 Series w/ UST Proforce Gold 65 shaft. Ball flight was a bit high for my overall game. However, I'll probably switch back for courses that have a lot of water in play.

I was looking for a club to fill the gap between my 13 degree and 21 degree woods. I tested the launcher 19 degree and the wilson staff 18 degree. Both just went way too high. My 7 wood allready scrapes the clouds, so i dont need another club that is useless in the wind. The last club i tried was the titeist, it went much lower and straighter, and held beautifully in the wind. Amazing club. I got it with a fujikara speeder shaft, amazing as well. I had never tried titleist woods before, but now i want to get another one to replace my 3-wood. The have the perfect trajectory, and you can work the ball at will.

Model Reviewed: 904F 15º Titleist Speeder FW Stiff

This club is an improvement from the 980F which I had owned. I never liked the curved/rounded leading edge and sole of the 980F. The 904F has a flatter sole and is less prone to digging. The forgiveness has definitely improved as well. Great strong ballflight, yet it still launches high, even with the Speeder. I like that, but others who have a high ballflight may not. Lively face with the typical muted Titleist feel, but hotter than the 980F was. Very stable at impact. Workable. I don't find it to have much of a bias to the head, I hit it pretty straight. Got a new "demo" off Ebay for $139, so look around for a deal!

Never had to use it for clubs, but Footjoy was great to deal with.

Also play the Ping G2 14º/Prolaunch 75s. It is more forgiving, but don't feel like I can "go after it" as hard with that club.

I have been hitting a 1-iron for a couple of years to keep the ball in play, as I have had some trouble keeping woods in play consistenly. I hit it straight, but mis-hits leave me long irons. I recently borrowed the Titleist 904f from my golf shop and was amazed! I am not going to go into all the deatials of how I can control the ball, and the feel the club gives me. I can hit any club good, when I hit it good. What amazed me about this club, was how good I hit it when I hit it bad! Whether it's the club, the shaft, or the combination of the two, I have to say this is the most forgiving fairway wood I have played. In addition, it goes a mile. I'm almost tempted to leave the driver out of the bag.

All i can say is great club. I take lessons with a top 100 teacher and he ordered me one, got it, went and hit it and was killin it with out even touching the club once. I don't know who could say they dont like this club. I like the 980 but this is 10 times better. There is no way i can hit this club bad!!!

First let me say that I was never a fan of the 975f or 980f that Titleist made. I never liked a rounded edge on a fairway wood so I stayed away from Titleist. I always liked the PT, and it was a beast as far as distance went, but it was a little unforgiving. The new 904 from Titleist is the real deal. I have a 15* that I reshafted with a Rapport pro wound 70 x-stiff shaft. I wanted a fujikura, but could not get the Vista pro or Vista Tour to play stiff enough. I am not here to boast about swing speed or distance, but I play as stiff a shaft as I can simply to control the trajectory. Typically, I hit a very high shot that has a tendency to balloon. The Titleist with this shaft has corrected that. I still hit it high, but very flat and the wind doesn't affect the flight too much. This club is great off the deck or a tee, and is very workable in any direction. Best of all is the sound. Whatever dampening material Titleist is using has really taken the "tinny" sound out of the club, and to me it sounds a lot like the old PT. I think Titleist hit a home run with this one, after a couple of foul balls in the past.

Never had to use on this club, but my 905S was shipped 3 days after order when they first came out and demand was really high.

When I hit the 19 degree on the screws it is the best sound and feeling I have in my bag. Its like butter. The distance is awesome with this club as is the trajectory. Starts low and keeps climbing for a long time. While I haven't tested other clubs I can say that this is one impressive piece of equipment. I'm constantly outdriving other's drivers with this club because of its reliability and distance.

Model Reviewed: 904F 4 wood

I'm probably in the minority here, but I think Titleist blew it on this one. They have been known to make some of the worst fairway clubs in history, but they had finally hit the mark last year with the 980-F. It is one of the best fairway clubs I've ever hit. I assumed the 904 would be in the same league and I bought one. What a disappointment. It sets up with a slightly closed face (on a fairway wood???), and goes downhill from there. Dull sounding and poorly weighted, this club is a nightmare to get up in the fairway. Thankfully, I kept my 980. This is the same company that took the best ball ever made (the original ProV1) and ruined that too. The engineers at Titleist have apparently been sniffing the polymer too long. I hope somebody saved the mold for the 980.

Model Reviewed: Titleist Pro Trajectory 904F

Titleist took parts of the old PT Pro Trajectory and successful fused it with the new technology to bring the 904F to the consumers. I should know, since I own the older PT Pro Trajectory and could immediately tell the difference between the two. The 904F is considerably larger but retains the old look of the old PT Pro Trajectory with less curvature on the bottom for improved turf performance. Improved turf performance translates to forgiveness. There seems to be heavy weight bias towards the draw, since the occassional hook rears its ugly head if I try to swing hard. But this could be due to the central gravity in a newer location and my using the steel shaft with 1.8 torgue. Typical ball flight and shape range from straight to a slight draw. The trajectory will be higher using a tee, low to mid trajectory off the turf. The sound of impact is great, giving off a solid feel eerily similar to the original PT Pro Trajectory w/graphite shaft. Distance wise, it would be unfair to compare the original and new since both are fitted with different shafts, but I can attest that the distance is close due to the forgiveness on the 904F. If you're looking to turn your fade/slice into draw/straight, this club is for you.
