TaylorMade 200 Steel Fairway Metal Woods Fairway Woods

TaylorMade 200 Steel Fairway Metal Woods Fairway Woods

DESCRIPTION

Greater forgiveness and distance are products of its 455 stainless steel Powerframe Technology construction. It allowed us to redistribute weight and optimally place CG to create the higher trajectory sought by most players. A trapezoidal sole pad and CAD optimized internal weight pad technology offer higher structural inertia to maintain velocity on off-center hits. This also creates a crisper, more satisfying sound and contact. Taken together, all of the features of the Powerframe Technology help increase ball speed.

I have the titanium 300 series 15 degree 3 wood. I was looking to add a 5 wood, and so for comparison, I tried the cheaper steel 200 series 5 wood. I was surprised to find the 200 series very lifeless and dull in feel and performance compared to the superb feel of the 300 series. The 300 series is crisp and the ball is so hot off the face with even slow tempo swings. The 200 series felt dull. I think higher handicappers may consider the 200 series if they hit them well, but lower and mid-handicappers are probably not going to like this series club, especially if they try the much better 300 series. I think the Callaway Steelhead Plus or Steelhead lll would be well worth trying prior to committing to the 200 series. For those who don''t mind spending some money for premium performance, try the Taylor Made 300 series or the Ping i3 fairway woods.

I think this is a great club. From the first shot I hit with it, I knew that I had to have it. I consistantly hit it straight and farther than most other 3 woods I have hit. Overall, a fantastic club.

Having started golf 6 weeks ago, I found that the major weakness in my game was using woods from the tee and fairway. Having tried several different clubs I found this club to be exceptional. Driving from the tee was a joy resulting in a comfortable 220 yrd perfectly flighted carry. Off centre shots still travelled 85% of normal distance and relatively straight. I also tried the 300 series in graphite but felt I had more control with the 200. This club is well weighted throughout the swing and gives a solid feel at impact. The head is a good size, though not being large and inspires confidence at address. In brief, an easy to hit club, giving a long flighted trajectory, very forgiving. I would recommend this for low mid to high handicappers. At £159 this club is a bargain.
