SONARTEC SS-03 - 3 WOOD 15* W/ SONARTEC SHAFT
I recently traded in my MacGregor VIP 3 and 5 woods, as well as a KZG 3 wood for the Sonartec. Wow!!! It's probably the best decision I've made in this crazy game. My clubhead speed with a 3 wood is 107 and with the MacGregor I would only carry the ball about 220 with roughly 10-15 yards roll (high ball flight), but extremely accurate. The KZG "Maraging Power" was maybe 5-10 yardslonger, but the accuracy took a major hit (higher ball flight). This club is everything I've been looking for. The trajectory is real low, but penetrating. Distance is unbeleivable, close to my Taylor Made R580 driver distance, but much more controllable. Very easy to work, or hit straight which is my typical ball flight. On my first par 5 (556 yards)with this club I hit a 290 yard drive with this 3 wood and had about 260 left. On my 2nd shot I hit the 3 wood through the green. Almost 275 yards off a sidehill lie. Then got up and down for birdie. I've always been long with my irons and driver, but hadn't found a 3 wood that I hit that well. I had a huge gap between my driver and woods, but this club all but takes care of that. Average 3 wood is now 265 off the deck. Good jump from my 230 yard MacGregor VIP (not to mention everyother 3 wood that is made). Pricy, but if you can afford, you won't be sorry!!!!!! Sonartec SS-03 15 Degree
The best 3 wood I have ever hit. The ball just explodes off the clubface. The clubhead is heavy, solid and stable. Easy to hit off the tee or the deck. Easy to fade or draw. Very square at set up. Boring mid trajectory. Extremely long. I've hit this 3 wood as long as my driver on several occassions. I use this club off the tee on all holes less than 400 yards, and have not missed a fairway yet. I've always been a decent fairway woods player, but this club has elevated me to the next level. Sonartec SS-03 16 degree
I have a high swing speed. However, I hit this 16 degree prior to warming up so I was tight and had to take easy swings. The ball jumps off the face. Hooks and slices are very minimal. The club feels very well balanced and the face is very forgiving. Although the SS-03 is supposed to be more difficult than the ss-01 or ss-02 to hit off the deck, the ss-03 in 16 degree gets it up off the ground very easily. I tried to hit thin shots with it and the results were still very good. The regular shaft held up pretty well until I increased the swing speed significantly causing the ball to draw more than I liked. I'd have to say that if you can hit any fairway wood at all, you shouldn't have a problem hitting this wood, at least in a 16 degree. I just ordered a 15 degree since my swing speed causes me to hit the 16 degree pretty high. Best fairway wood I've ever hit. Customer Service No experience with. I was playing the Titleist Pt for ahile, but when my game was off, so were my shots, especially the PT. Anyhow, i was looking for a fairway metal with a little more forgiveness than the PTs with the same feel. I noticed David Duval using a "weird" looking fairway wood, found out it was Sonartec! Looked up their website, researched all that i could, went to ebay...and that's all she wrote! I luv this club! Very forgiving compared to the PT, very long and accurate, and phenomenal feel. The only problem is if you try to reach a par 5 on 2, then it might not hold the green b/c it rolls 4-ever. Stick with the 15 degree if you can reach those par 5s. I have a visto pro 90 x-stiff at 42.5", 43 (stock length) is just too long. I hit this thing as long as my driver at times. Would recommend the same set-up for a strong player to gain more control and accuracy, otherwise the stock penley's are pretty good. Great Club!!! The first 5 rounds I have played with them have been awesome. I have the SS-03 14* 3 Wood and the SS-03 19* 5 Wood. Both have the Penely stock shafts and they perform, period! With the Driving Cavity Technology it's nothing for me at 15 years old to hit the 3 wood 260-275 and the 5 wood 225-240 right down the target line. I have made 3 eagles in the 5 rounds I have played with them on par 5's. They make meaty par 5's reachable and long par 4's shorter. They give me so much distance and forgiveness that I have dropped the Driver and added a 2 iron. These are the best out there and I have hit them all. Steelheads, Tight Lies, PT's, and the 975f's CAN't come close to these. Great club, Recommend to anyone that wants a tour-like, flat, boring trajectory that gets it done everytime. Customer Service Great customer Service at Pro Golf! Similar Products Used: Adams Tight Lies 2, Callaway Steelhead, Titleist PT and 975f, Taylormade 200 and 300, and Ping i3. |

After reading the GCR review and other comments here, I had to try this out. I'm not one to believe everything I read or to think that what works for one player's swing will work for another. That said, I am highly impressed with this club. As CGR recommended, I got the Penley shaft in S flex. Took it to the range today and even with frozen range balls, this club performed superbly. Great distance, but more importantly, every time I put a decent swing on the ball, it went right where I aimed it. Contact was super-solid and I could work the ball, to my limited ability, with ease. Can't wait to play with it in warmer weather with my Precepts. This is no hype. The Driving Cavity technology works, the club is beautifully made and offers tremendous playability and distance. It might be a tad pricey, but count me a very satisfied customer. Customer Service Not needed Similar Products Used: Ping i3 5 wood |

Without a doubt, this is the best and most consistent club that I have hit. It is very solid and workable. Because of the consistency and wonderful swing weight, I have increased confidence using it, which results in better scoring. Highly recommended. Similar Products Used: Taylormade, Ping, Titleist |

Great club! Cna be a very workable club. Easy to hit the ball low. Penetrating ball flight. I'd reccomend it to anyone seeking to lower their ball flight. It is also very long. It's stock shaft is made by penley. It's a pretty good shaft. Customer Service I had no problems with their customer service. Willing to help! Similar Products Used: ping i3, titleist 975f |

This club is ridiculous. Great balance, sound, feel, and trajectory. Oh yeah, I hit a few 290 off the tee. I highly recommend getting the Fujikura AV 70 stiff shaft. It makes all the difference. I was playing a Steelhead Plus 3+. No comparison... Sonartec hands down! Similar Products Used: Callaway Steelhead Plus 3+ |
