I went to a demo days to try this 3 wood out before purchasing. It's a great club! It is 2* less than my Golfsmith 3 wood, and so it does produce a lower, more boring flight. It does fly exceptionally well in the wind. I do disagree with the previous review though. I find this club easy to hit off a tight fairway. And when I hit it from the tee box, I tee it low. I read somewhere that the only down-side to this wood was that it was not real good out of thick, deep grass (the second cut). I have found that it extracts the ball as well or better than any other wood. I recommend the stiff stock shaft, unless you really swing hard. This club is very solid and I get excellent distance. I can hit it dead straight, and I really enjoy swinging it. |

Wow! This 3 Wood lives up to all of the hype. I read all of the reviews, talked to many different players, researched, and thought about buying this club for about 2 months. I usually never buy a club unless I can have the opportunity to demo it and play at least a couple of rounds with it, but I decided to buy this club from Golf Smith without having hit it. I don't have much to compare it to except my old 3 wood which is a Callaway Warbird 3+, but this wood is a great club. To start, it has the most beautiful look and sound I could have expected. The club is very solid and stable and hits the ball very straight giving with the advertised "penetrating, flat ball flight." Distance wise I hit it a little further than my old 3 wood but it is so much easier to control. And I'm not afraid to hit it into the wind where before my old 3 wood would balloon. I would say the only downside is that it maybe a little harder to hit off of tight lies in the fairway. The face really isn't THAT deep. I actually measured it and it is the same as my old Big Bertha Warbird 3+. I looked at the SS-02, and the face seemed more shallow than the advertised "mid" face. If you are looking for a wood that is easy to hit off of the fairway I would say this isn't the club. Of the tee, however, you could replace your driver with this club. A really sweet club overall. |

Absolutely the best feeling and most controllable 3-wood I've played. Reshafted w/ Aldila NV for control and to lower the already boring flight even more (I'm a high ball hitter). Consistently flies the ball 265-270 and easy to work fade/draw and high/low. Extremely solid on center hits, but maybe not as forgiving for higher handicappers (especially with the lower trajectory). Outstanding out of the light rough and fairway bunkers. Without question the best fairway wood I've ever hit. Customer Service Not used. Similar Products Used: Callaway Steelhead, Ping I3 |

I purchased this club after much research on fairway metals. Golf Digest's Editors had it rated as one of the best fairway metals in the marketplace. I absolutely love this club. I have played two rounds with it (under Winter conditions) and from what I can tell - can hit it about 250+ yards. (I am 49 years old with a 13 Index). This is a very easy club to hit and has a very traditional appearance. As other reviewers have mentioned, this club produces a mid-height boring flight path whereby the ball gets very good roll after landing. This is the best fairway club I have ever hit. Now, I need to play with it for about 10 more rounds to determine what loft I need in the five wood. Waveland Golf of Chicago sells a very large volume of these clubs on e-Bay. As advertised. Solid, long, accurate, with a very hot trajectory that just pierces the fairway. I demoed this club once at a golf shop. I took a chance since I really needed a long club I could keep down in the wind and place in the fairway consistently. Highly recommended. Okay on off-center hits, but on the screws it is ridiculous. Most solid feeling and sounding 3 wood I've ever had. Very happy with the stock Penley S shaft. Heavier than normal swingweight. The ball has the most perfect trajectory. Just got back from a 3 day, 5 round vacation in Myrtle Beach. I was hitting it into a 15 mile an hour winds and it didn't balloon at all like my old Ping steelhead. It must have to do with the higher center of gravity. This club will be in my bag for a long time. Customer Service Club arrived as promised (new). What a club! LONG and easy to hit. I'm a lefty who's had Titleist, Cleveland, and Ping fairway woods and this is by far the best one for me. I hit the 3 wood sometimes as long as my KZG driver(260yds)including roll. The 5 wood is alsoo very easy to hit as goes along way. Customer Service Ask for Ted, Matt or Jason. You can test hit in the store. Great guys, very knowledgeable. Similar Products Used: Cleveland Quadpro, Titleist, Ping |

SonarTec SS-03
Read reviews here on the SonarTec fairway woods and decided to take a gamble on them. Purchased 3-wood (15 degrees) and 5-wood (19 degrees) in like-new condition on eBay. Both clubs have stock Penley shafts in stiff flex. My handicap on my home course is 7-9, and I thought I had the best equipment on the market, but my previous fairway woods (Steelhead III in strong 4 and 7-wood) were neither as easy to get into the air nor as solid-feeling on contact as the SonarTecs. Then let's talk about distance. I have 94 mph swing speed with a driver and now find--like lots of others who have reviewed the SonarTec SS-03 fairway woods--that I can sometimes hit the SS-03 3-wood as far as I can hit my GBBII driver. With roll, on a flat fairway, the 15-degree 3-wood goes 240-260 for me, which I can only exceed with my very best driver shots. The finish and feel are great, and I especially like the "heavy" feel of the clubhead through the swing and the incredibly solid feel at impact. The GBBII driver (9 degree) has really elevated my driver game, but the SS-03 fairway woods *feel* much better at impact. I hit the 5-wood plenty high, and the distance (while good) is about what I'd expect from any 5-wood. The 3-wood has such a boring flight, however, that it just runs forever, no matter how hard or soft the fairway (short of plugging). Although I hit the occasional quacker with all my clubs, I can't imagine a better fairway wood. Customer Service No experience with this. Sonartec 003 Three Wood
Swing easy, it's the longest 3 wood I have ever hit. Swing hard it's a dead hook. I never did hit it straight but I did hit it long with a draw when I hit it easy. (Stiff shaft). No feedback from clubhead, felt the same when hit poorly or hit well BUT IT IS LONG! If you have a smooth consistent easy swing 90+ mph then you probably can throw away your driver and just hit this thing off the tee and the fairways. If you play narrow holes with trouble left, and tend to overswing, don't buy it, it will cost you strokes. Could probably learn to hit it consistently but could not get over the absolute lack of feedback on whether it had been hit "on the screws" or not. Was astounded at the length though, 250-260 many times and I normally don't hit driver more than 270. Am a 9 handicap. Very nice club! It was a very good feeling at impact and hooks and slices are not extreme. That gives you the ability to work the ball with confidence. They are not so good form bad lies, but that should not be a problem since you can use an iron insted from those lies. Customer Service Not needed Similar Products Used: Callaway VFT, Steelhead III |
