Sonartec SS-03 Fairway Woods

Sonartec SS-03 Fairway Woods

DESCRIPTION

Classic Shape Stainless Steel Head Graphite Shaft Driving Cavity on Sole allows for greater distance and control and a high, flat ball flight. Balanced weight distribution in the perimeter creates more stability on heel/toe miss-hits and a wider sweet spot. Deeper Center of Gravity (CG) creates a penetrating ball flight with no balloon effect; ball is less apt to be affected by wind. The ball rolls on its drop and yields further distance. CG is aligned with the ball at impact every time. Perfect connection. Precisely conforms to the legal Coefficient of Restitution (COR) set forth by the USGA; allows for faster ball speed and greater carry.

Strength:

Sonartec fairway woods, including the SS-03, were known for their deep face design. A deeper face can provide a larger hitting area, promoting forgiveness on off-center strikes. by tstoto

Very solid. Picked it up used with X-Stiff Mitsubishi Rayon shaft for $50. Accurate, long and lands soft. Must be decent golfer to hit it though. Excellent club.

HAMMER TIME!!! This is by far the nicest, most solid hitting fairway wood that I have ever played. You need a pretty strong swing speed, but this club will pick the ball out of just about any lie, and they seem to have gotten the bulge and roll perfect. If you hit a shot to the right, the spin will create a slight draw, and if you hit to the left, a slight fade (for a right-handed golfer). I just pulled the stock shafts and inserted new Penley P2 fairway shafts, SA- WEEE- TTTT!!!

I won this particular club in a competetition with Golf Digest Magazine. Sonartec clubs are only now taking off over here in Ireland. It is definitely for a lower handicap golfer. Its not the type of club that you can swing nice and slowly, the stock shaft is about 75grams with a medium/high kickpoint. You have to swing this club at about 100mph+ in order to benefit from it. Take it back nice and low and keep down on it coming thru the ball and you should achieve good results. Off the tee its great, plenty of roll and a good penetrating trajectory. You may struggle for a little while to determine the correct height to tee it up. It would be a good idea to go to the range first and find the tee height to suit you. Off the deck, its good, but once again you need to keep low in your take away and keep down into in on the follow thru. I only have the club 1 month and I am apprehensive about it, but I will keep you posted during the summer.

Customer Service

Ok. Unfortunately there is only one representative for the company here in Ireland. In saying that he doesn't bullsh*t and will do his best to help you with recommendations etc. But if you have the opportunity to try different head/shaft combinations, then do it.

Hands down the best fairway woods made. If you've got a above average swing speed and make consistent contact then these fairway woods are for you. Compact, classic look at address w/ a fairly heavy feel to the clubhead. Flat trajectory w/ a good amount of roll. Picked up 10 -15 yards w/ each club. Stock shafts are awesome, I had a club fitter check the frequency of the shafts and the stiffs were actually half way between stiff and x-stiff. Nice to not have to buy a club and immediately get it re-shafted or pay for an upgrade when purchased. Purchased both on ebay, brand new for $75 less than local golf specialty stores.
