Model Reviewed: Ping I3 3 wood 14 deg Stiff

I have been looking for a new 3 fairway wood. I have not been consistent with my 15 deg warbird. I read many reviews, tried several and settled on the Ping. Don't know if it is there is to much difference in length (from the tee) but otherwise these clubs are very different. From the Tee I prefer the callaway as my worst shots with it are still pretty safe. The Ping seems very workable, which is code for you can lose it both ways (mainly hooks). From a fluffy lie the callaway again seems better because of the deeper face. I have popped a few with the ping. However from any fairway lie the ping seems brilliant. The head seems small and sits behind the ball very well. It feels as easy as any five wood to hit, but with way more length. The results are great. I reached a par five in 2 today from 225M with a putt for eagle. I'll try not to mention the 4 putt. The problem with the warbird is the tapered sole. If you middle the ball, great, if not then you always get half a ball. Even with a middled callaway I would have been 10-15m short of the ping. One last thing. Ping shafts seem as weak as callaways. Go up one from your normal stiffness.

Model Reviewed: i3 7 & 9 Woods

I really like the feel of the steel i3 7 & 9 woods. I have a complete set of Ping i3s and love them. However, one caveat of the i3 steel woods; you better be a good ball striker. The heads are very small on the 7 & 9 woods and mis-hits are penalized. However, if you hit the ball square, it's the best feel I've ever had while striking a golf ball. I reall believe the steel head i3 woods are for the single digit handicappers, not for us weekend hackers with 15+ handicaps

Customer Service

Only 10 days to reshaft and get it back to me. Very informative in the selection of a shaft too.

I purchased the ping i3 fairway wood during the mid part of last season. I bought it in a stiff shaft in a 3-wood at 14 degrees. I was impressed with the extreme increase in distance I was getting with it and how easy it was to hit off the deck. What I was not impressed with was how hard it was to a straight ball flight. Attacking par 5's in to was essentially dangerous, and I found myself just as well off going for them with the driver off the deck or not going at them at all. I am also considered a very straight hitter. A slight draw with this club quickly turned into a SNAP hook. So to anyone who is thinking of buying this club I would recommend taking their time in choosing clubs and for them to take advantage of the PING's custom fitting system.

The Ping i3 fairway woods are the best fairway woods I have ever hit. My 3 wood is my favorite club in my bag. I would reccommend this club to any one that has a 17 handicap and below. This club is the BEST!!!

Model Reviewed: Ping I3 5wood with proforce fairway shaft

$260 for this club???? A steal!!! Easiest club in my bag to hit, I carry ping everything and this is the only club in the bag I consistently draw. I hit this thing a good 235-240 on the fly when I'm on. Only 10 yards less carry than my Tisi driver! I highly recommend this club especially with the customized shafts, I have the stock in my driver and it isn't nearly this hot off the face or consistent, oh well I'm sending it back next week. High or low handicappers can't go wrong with ping.

Customer Service

Took about 6-8 business days to get to Virginia, and it was worth the wait. Hopefully my driver won't take much longer.

Model Reviewed: Ping i3 14deg

My ping i3 14deg is shafted with a proforce 75 Stiff. This is far and away without a doubt the best fairway wood I have ever hit. I could only wish that I would have found it when they came out not a year ago. I have hit pretty much every brand I could find, but when I hit this club it was like it was sent from above. It is so easy to swing, especially of the deck. It is hard to hit a bad shot with it, I mean really hard. Draw it or fade it what ever you like. The only drawback is that it is not the easiest club to hit really low, if that is a drawback. If I need 240 to 250 to get to a green it's like I am cheating using this club. BEST EVER, NO DOUBT!!!

This club is versatile! I bought it with the Ping 350 stiff shaft but found it to be too "whippy" since I was hitting a big hook with it. I sent it back to Ping to install a Grafalloy Prolite 35S and now it''s dead on. You can work this club and it lands soft on greens. I can hit it off the tee almost as far as my Ping TISI with no wind. The key to any club is in the shaft!

Customer Service

2 weeks to replace shaft. Pretty standard.

I bought these after trying out lots of other alternatives, again on the recommendations of some of the reviews already here. I have only recently started playing and decided to try out Ping i3, Callaway Steelhead III and Steelhead Plus, Orlimar Tri-Metal Plus, Mizuno Blue Rage. I found that the Pings were very easy to hit and the ball made a fantastic sound when you got it right off the sweet spot, even if you didn''t the ball flew pretty far and didn''t go too far off line. They also looked the best and were very easy to line the ball up against. I recommend if you''re buying them new, to go to a fitter, get the proper shaft, grip and fitting for you. Once that''s done you can''t hep but love these clubs!

Customer Service

Excellent.

Model Reviewed: ping i3 steel 3-wood 14* stiff ping shaft

This is a very forgiving, accurate fairway wood. All I have to do is hit the ball somewhere on the clubface and it will stay in the fairway 200+ yards even on the worst strikes. My swing speed is around 100 mph and I carry a 14 hdcp. A solid hit carries around 220-225 for me with very high ball flight which may be due to the shaft. I do like the trajectory, even though it may cost me aq little distance, b/c I am able to stop the ball on greens on long par 3''s with the club. This has been an invaluable club on tight driving holes b/c it keeps me out of trouble. Again, its forgiveness can not be overstated. It has a gear effect where balls that start right gently draw back to the fairway and balls that start left likewise fade back to the center. Also, this club is a great value at $200 brand new off the rack.
