Steelhead III 4 & 7 Woods - Steel Shaft
I agree with the other reviews, this club has a great feel to it and is deadly accurate. Was disappointed with the Steelhead Plus 4 wood I owned, but this one is a winner. Only took me about 15 balls on the range before I got the feel for it, seems like I can''t make bad contact with the thing! Like the fairway woods so much that, if I didn''t love my VFT, I would certainly give that a spin as well. Good out of the rough even though it has a little larger head than some fairway woods. I don''t see myself trying any other fairway woods this season! Similar Products Used: 975f, QuadPro, Adams, Ping I/3 |

Steelhead Plus Driver and 3-wood
I am an average golfer at best, and I always had a lot of trouble with my tee shots. I rented these clubs at TPC Sawgrass and I was amazed at the accuracy, distance, and confidence that these clubs gave me -- all of a sudden, I was able to match the better players because of these clubs. I just went out and purchased the new Steelhead III woods, and I cannot wait to use them. They really are a bargain compared to some of the prices of other drivers on the market. |

GREAT club - I traded my old Callaway Driver in for this one, hence the net amount I had to pay was $30. Best bargain ever! You can do this on through Callaway website. |

Steelhead III
Steelhead III 3 wood with graphite shaft - I replaced my original war bird steel shaft 3 wood. There is no comparison between the two. Distance is much longer than my old 3 wood. I found that it is difficult to miss hit this club. Great sound and feel when you hit the ball. One of the best fairway woods in the market. Customer Service not used |

Steelhead+ 4, 7 woods
Was looking at a 3 and 5 wood, but the club pro suggested I try the 4 and 7 combination since the lofts of the Callaway woods are quite strong. The guy knows his stuff. The 4w hits as far as my old Warbird driver and the extra bit of loft helps out of the rough. The 7w is just right for the 190 to 210 approach shots. Other ''not so favorable'' reviews have stated these clubs are not very forgiving, but I found no problems with them. If I do have a bad swing, then I get what I deserve and I don''t expect the club to be able to compensate for those swings. Both clubs work very well for me, but as others have said before: ''Try before you buy''. Customer Service None required so far Similar Products Used: Callaway Warbird 3w, old Slazeger 5w |

Steelhead III: reg. 3 with uniflex steel
I like. Hits nicely off good lies, and decently off tight lies... For some reason, I have trouble hitting 3 woods clean. I just couldn''t find a non-thinface (cleveland, orlimar, etc.) 3 wood that worked for me like my old worn out orig. Steelhead. That is, until I was introduced to the new Callaway Steelhead III''s. I''m only a little suspicious about these "uniflex" shafts. They seem O.K., a little light in flex for me, but that problem will soon be solved when I reshaft it with a UST PF 75 Gold shaft. Bottom line is, this is a good club. If you look around, you can get these real cheap. My preferred method this time around was eBay. Customer Service None needed so far. Steelhead + 7 wood
Bought the Steelhead+ 7-wood last fall to carry in colder weather (for some reason, I just have a hard time with long irons when the temperture drops) and it hasn''t left my bag since. My three iron is now collecting dust. Went with the steel shaft for consistency and versatility and it''s paid many dividends. The club is a good complement to my old Warbird 4-wood (which I reshafted with Grafalloy ProLite) and fills the 215 slot nicely. It''s pretty easy to work both directions and affords me a slightly lower ball flight than the other 7-woods I''ve hit. Two gripes: 1. The club sets up closed. I need to intentionally "open" it at address or I''ll hook the snot out of it. 2. The blue paint is pretty, but I dug one out of a soft fairway bunker and marred the finish...which is ridiculous. Steelhead Plus 3+ Wood
This is probably the worst golf equipment investment I have ever made. Firstly, I purchased it retail which was my mistake. I don''t even know where to begin with the problems! Here are a few things that I found to be problematic: the club is simply not forgiving - when hit improperly (bad hits went absolutely nowhere!), the club is impossible to get off the ground on the fairway, and the club provided no margin of error. I couldn''t use thi sclub off the tee or fairway and found there to be too many problems with almost anything I look for in a driver or fairway wood. I have since sold it and bought a Taylor Made Supersteel (now discontinued) which is a far better club off the tee and fairway, with greater forgiveness and distance. Anyone looking to buy a Callaway Steelhead should be warned - get a Supersteel used and it will be better and cheaper. If you want to splurge - buy the new Taylor Made 200 series model fairway woods (even a lot of pros [Mike We*r] is using it and they are affordable). Please just try the club before you buy! Steelhead Plus 9 degree Driver
I''m a mid-handicapper and have been playing with this club for a while. I have a regular-flex steel shaft on it. I gotta tell you, I love this driver. Don''t spend $500 on on one of those big, fancy, new drivers. This is like the old Callaway Big Bertha driver (not Great Big or Biggest Big). I love steel shaft drivers. And for $130, how can you go wrong? If you don''t like it, you sell it on ebay for $90 at the end of the season. Great non-gimmicky club. I love the 3-wood as well. Oh, the number of this shop in Ca. is 510 482 0422. I don''t have any relationship with them, but they''re prices are so legit I have to refer them. Tell them Pete from New York sent you!
