This is the best 3 wood I have used. I changed the shaft to a Dynamic Gold S300 and it is as long as I need it to be without losing any accuracy. The low center-of-gravity allows good height on shots (just make sure you don''t tee it up to high). I use it on shorter par fours and tight par fives. The pro here had one but gave it up when he got his 3 wood from Titleist (boy is he sorry he did!).

I love my Steelhead 3w and hit it a ton, but accuracy is a little flighty, and I top the ball off the turf sometimes, usually when I lift my heel inadvertently.
I wanted this club in a strong 3 or 2 for driver duties, but ended up getting the Titleist 975f 13.5* 3w (really a 2w) which rocks. The Callaway has produced loinger overall hits from both the turf and the tee, but mishits are not treated as well due to the springy vft face. Overall, the 975f averages longer and produces a ton of roll (Pro Trajectory). Both are steel shafted.
You can't go wrong with either of these clubs, however Callaway customer service is better if you bust something. The Titleist will help you groove your swing rather than masking your problems, which I find more valuable. My swing has already gotten better. This year I've gone from a 125 to low-90's in 3 months of serious golfing. I'm planning on breaking 90 this year.

A wonderful golfclub, just adress it and make a swing. Great feel, really comfortable. I have never hit the ball this far with another 5-wood.

I own Steelhead 5 and it's useful from fairway and rough, very forgiving, but I would now invest my money to Titleist 975F.

in my opinion, Steelhead it's little bit better than Steelhead Plus in fairway, one of the biggest reasons is compact clubhead and of course, the looks.

I haven't noticed that VFT-technology would help much.

I am 14 and starting my second year of golf and with the steelhead plus 10 degree driver, I hit 225 yds first time I tried it. I would recommend everyone to buy it! Great buy at $150!

Follow up to my previous review. I've since played the Steelhead+ three times, recording lower scores each time. I find that I can hit the 3w as far as my GBB 11* driver. This fact, plus the problems with my Hawkeye pro has persuaded me to get the Steelhead 9* driver. The Steelheads hit as long as the GBB Warbirds, and are far easier to hit than the Hawkeyes. When hit well, they don't have a tinny sound. They have a SMACK sound that I love, especially when it goes 250.

This is a great club, with good distance, but not the best forgivness. The standard Graphite shaft on it sucks, but with a UST Proforce its great. Highly recommended.
