I've had the Warbird 3, 5, and Heavenwood for too many years to remember now, all with the M10 steel uniflex shafts. Occasionally I've put other fairway woods in my bag only to go back to these. They aren't flashy but they go where I want and always produce consistent trajectory. I read once that 99% of the technology in the golf equipment market exceeds 99% of the golfing public's ability to utilize that technology. I suppose that's why you still see these clubs in the bags of so many players. Best fairway woods ever made in my opinion.

Customer Service

Callaway has the best customer service in the industry, and there are lots of companys out there providing good customer service.

This is a retro club but I have failed to find any other fairway wood/hybrid that performs as well as my 4+ Callaway since this club was brought onto the market in the mid/late 90s. I use a proforce gold 65 stiff shaft in this club and it plays like a dream - extremely solid off the face coupled with a high penetrating flight which is perfect for the club golfer. I play off 5 and average 225-240 yds with this club. A great club to use on short par 4s as I have found many 3 woods and hybrids to be very inconsistent off the tee. Its all about the shaft in my opinion - I would highly recommend buying a 4+ and re-shafting with an appropriate flex etc.. and I guarantee it will transform your game !

Model Reviewed: Big Bertha Callaway War Bird 3 Wood

Bought the 3 wood on ebay based on positive reviews; needed a quick replacement for a generic 3 wood I had to sell with a set. The wood had the stock stiff shaft and the wood was in good shape. I tested it on the range and was very dissapointed. I had a difficult time hitting with it as the club tended to drive into the turf and take divots. This may be due to the v-sole or v-shape bottom. At best, I hit a number of shots ranging from 200 - 230 yards. The distance achived was very dissapointing; and likely due to the stock shaft. During the same range time I demo'd a Titleist 906 F4 15.5 3 wood. The two clubs were night and day and demonstrated to me the big difference between newer clubs. The titleist 3 wood shots were hit consistently ~230 - 250 yards off the turf. Tee shots went straight and further.

At any rate, I recommend demo'ing clubs before you buy. I traded the warbird in this weekend for a used Titleist 906F 3 wood and I won't look back.

I was playing golf with a friend one day and needed a fairway wood, didn't have one with me and I asked if I could use his 5 wood, it was a callaway and I hit it really well so I decided to try and find a set on e-bay, I found the 3 and five wood for around sixty dollars and put them in my bag. My next round was incredible, I started teeing off with the 3 wood and hit it 300 yards off the tee, nice and straight, the 5 wood out of the fairway is a god send. I started searching for a 7 heaven wood and found one for thirty dollars. The 7 wood is as good as the others, I love it on long par 3s because you can tee it higher and it will go higher and land soft, tee it low and it will fly farther and run a bit.

To say I love these woods is an understatement, they are awesome and I have less than a hundred dollars in my set of three clubs.

I have the callaway x20 irons and I love those also but I hit a wood every chance I get because I know it will fly long, straight and true.

I just found a 11* driver this morning on e-bay for $29.00 dollars, stiff shaft, steel with winn grip. I haven't got it yet but I hope is somewhere close to the ones I have.

My overall opinion of Callaway clubs is that they are the best money can buy. I have 7 drivers and do not hit any of them consistently like I do my warbird three wood, steal it and I'll kill you, I will hunt you down and stuff a dozen range balls down your throat. Just kidding.

Buy warbirds, you can't go wrong

Customer Service

No experience although I would have any one of my warbirds repaired at any cost.

I bought this a while ago for 30 each. It was such a steal. I have been tinkering with my swing lately and have figured out how to hit these clubs. At best i am hitting the 5 wood about 165 and the 3 wood 175 not including roll. These are great clubs. i switched back from my ping g2's and i am not looking back.

I had an old Ping Eye 3 wood that I had used for years and hit well. For some reason, I went out and bought this Warbird 3-metal anyway. It's a good club, but if you fight a hook like I do, you'd be best to look elsewhere if my experience is any indication. The clubhead feels very light - almost too light, in my opinion. That led to a couple of problems. First, I had no feel whatsover for where the clubhead was during my swing and it made troubleshooting during the round (or at the range for that matter) very difficult. Second, it turned my hook/draw into a snap hook or at best, a pull hook. I bought it as a "get it in the fairway" club for off the tee, but I abandoned it completely after struggling with it for a couple of years. I was way more accurate and longer with my old Ping Eye.

I think the feathery light clubhead works well for the majority of the golfing population who fight a slice - it's much easier to square the clubhead. However, if your misses curve left in some form or another, I'd look elsewhere.
