Zero Tolerance Crown Jewel Spectra Drivers

Zero Tolerance Crown Jewel Spectra Drivers

DESCRIPTION

From ZT Golf: "Crown Jewel Spectra has 320 cc of size, 2 inch face height and is metallic black in color. It does not look that big in comparison with the actual size. Feeling is very solid and sound is mid to high pitch. It has a boring trajectory with soft landing, resulting in more rolls. It hits straight and easy with a minimum dispersion."

The review club is a ZT Spectra, 11*, 45", shafted with the new ZT Power 55 UL shaft, regular flex. GP tour wrap grip.

I played with the club last week for 8 rounds on a variety of courses near Tampa (narrow, open, forced carries, etc.).

I chose the 11* model. My swing speed is 92 and I tend to hit the ball low with a driver. My "standard" driver is a McHenry tour pure, 10.5, with the mchenry/graffaloy ltlf 90 shaft.

Here're my thoughts:

Looks: The head is similar in shape from top to the TiSi, but the face is much different, as the ZT is more triangular as opposed to the rectangular face of the Ping. I'd guess that it's about 1* closed. The grey head had a decent finish, but could have been shinier. I recall being more impressed with the finish on the original crown jewel. I liked the look of the sightline. The shaft is a nice blue with yellow lettering and is black at the tip. I'm glad that it's original in design.

Feel/feedback/sound. The club and shaft provided very good feedback and feel. It was clear when the ball hit the sweetspot, and it was apparent where the ball hit the face when the sweet spot was missed. The sound we neither loud nor muted; it didn't leave a particular impression on me in any way.

Forgiveness: The club really shines in this regard. Hits off the sweet spot were not punished much in direction or distance.

Distance: I had several drives with this club in the 250-260 range, which is really far for me. My basic good shots were in the 230-240 area, which is also long for me. Less than wonderful swings that were straight still seemed to go 220 or so.

Trajectory: The set up worked very well for me: not too high or too low. The design of the head I think produces flat drives, so going to 11* and a mid flexpoint shaft was perfect for me.

Shaft: The power 55 is well suited to my game and this head for me. I felt the shaft load (which I don't with several shafts) and torque and flexpoint were a good choice for my swing.

Summary: This is a very good club, and with this setup is very well suited to my game.

CJ Spectra 9* w/ HMB40 S shaft.

I have only hit this club at the range so far but initial results are very positive.

The club sets up square and looks good at address. The Spectra doesn't look overly large for a 320cc club.

The trajectory was excellent. I was a little concerned about the loft becuase I play a 10.5* CJ as my primary driver but I found the trajectory comparable. The club didn't have a tendancy to balloon on me either. I find that ballooning is more a factor of the shaft than the clubhead.

The shaft felt better than I expected. I didn't get any of the high right misses I tend to get out of graphite shafts that are too soft.

I am looking forward to putting the club in play on the course. That is where I really determine length and forgiveness. I do think this has an excellent chance to become my regular driver.

I also have a ZT CJ Spectra, 9*, with the Pro 2.5 shaft, S-flex at 45". The Pro 2.5 is one of their new shafts. It's listed as 61 grams and 2.5 torque. I was suprised at how long and forgiving the Spectra was. The first time I hit it at the range, I said "Wow!" and was thereafter consistently impressed with the Spectra's performance. Even toe hits went down the middle with good distance.

I played a round yesterday with the Spectra, and its great performance carried over onto the course as well. One of my playing partners was a muscular 6 footer using a Ping TiSi with Stiff flex Cushin shaft, but I was consistently as long or even longer off the tee with my Spectra (I'm 5'8 and 175 lbs). It was a slow day at the course, so on one hole we each hit another ball with each other's driver, just for practice. My partner had been hitting fade-slices with his Ping, but crushed a line drive down the center with the Spectra. In his words, "Wow, that Spectra is sweet".

I had at first been concerned about the lower torque and extra inch of clublength in my Spectra, (I usually play a 44" Inno-Lite, with 3.5 torque) but I was surprised at how easy to control the Pro 2.5 was. The stiff flex didn't feel "boardy" at all. My swingspeed is 95-100; those with slower swings might do better with an R flex, but I definitely think the lower torque is a good idea with larger clubheads. Of course, like any club, the ball will go where you hit it: I had two off-balance out-to-in swings and was awarded with fade-slices, but even those went pretty far. On the other drives, when I hit it flush on center, I couldn't have been happier. I did notice that it helped to really tee the ball higher than usual (a couple of times it seemed the tee was just barely in the ground).

The Spectra's head is really attractive, a nice metalic paint charcoal grey which matched well with the grey of the Pro 2.5 shaft, and the head doesn't seem as large as its 320 cc would seem to indicate. The 9 degree head played true to loft, as my trajectory with the Spectra was the same as or perhaps just a little lower than my 9* Biam. The head makes a great "thwack" sound upon impact, and doesn't feel or sound hollow like some other large titanium heads. It's a very solid driver which inspires confidence in the tee box. All in all, I'm very happy with the Zero Tolerance Spectra. Good job ZT!

I got a 10 degree Spectra with the ZT Pro 2.5 shaft, stiff flex, direct from ZT Golf. Cosmetically, a very nice looking club. A large head, but it doesn't appear overwhelming. Nicely balanced, with a solid feel.

Smooth swings produced long, high drives. I am a high ball hitter, and probably could have gotten better results with a 9 degree head, but even so, no ballooning occurred. Average carry was 230 - 240, into a fairly stiff wind. Sound was solid, not tinny or high pitched. A little tinkering with tee height and overall setup would probably improve reuslts, but overall, I am very impressed. A good value.

I have played it this club for about a week now. Which is about 6 rounds. This club performs just as well as any other OEM driver i have hit. I am using the HMB-40 shaft in it, and for a heavy shaft it will go and go and go. Overall it is a very forgiving club, and fells great when you hit it pure. I sounds a little deeper than the Ping, and loks a little bigger in my opinion. But it is smaller, I don't know why but it just does. But I love the ball flight and trajectory. This driver wil definatly stay in the bag for this season, or unitl i find something bigger and better!

Product Review for:

Crown Jewel Spectra 11 deg with Phoenixx Thermo Pro 1220 R-flex, 45 inches, tipped 1/2", Golf Pride Lite Wrap

I found this club to be very solid and forgiving. With a very large hitting area, it was hard to mis-hit drives with this club, which instilled a lot of confidence on the tee box.

Being a natural low-ball hitter, the 11* enabled me to hit the ball with a mid to high trajectory, producing exceptional carry distances. Sound of the club at impact was surprisingly pleasant considering its 320cc size.

Working the ball with this club was somewhat of a challenge, due to its head size, but I really did not see the need to try to shape my shots, as all of my well-struck drives were either very straight or had slight fades.

My only complaint with this club is the cosmetics. For one thing, a better paint job is in order, and a stainless hosel ring feature should be added to the top of the hosel. Also, I think the club could be just as effective if it could be pared down to a 300cc sized head.

Overall, I'm very pleased with how this driver performs. I can finally drive my tee shots high and straight - just the ticket for those wet or damp courses where carrying a drive is a premium.

Specs: Crown Jewel Spectra 10* Zero Tolerance pro 2.5 regular flex shaft.

Looks: Only thing that I didn't like about the looks of this driver was the
rather large alingment arrow on the top of the head, other than that
very nice looking driver. Sets up nice and square.

Feel: Great feel for a driver over 300cc, very solid feel on well struck
balls, very similar feel to a Callaway GBB or BBB, in my opinion.

Distance: Not the longest driver I've ever hit but definitely not the
shortest. Well struck balls carried 250 yds with decent roll. Trajectory
was a medium to high ball flight, which would be expected form a 10* driver.
Not as long as my PING TISI, but every bit as long or longer than any
Callaway I've ever hit.

Forgiveness: This is the strong suit for this driver, it was very easy to
hit. I gained confidence with every ball I hit, off center hits, didn't
lose to much distance, and didn't wander off line very far at all. I could
swing as hard or as easy I wanted to with great results. Hard swings
resulted in nice draws, and easier swings turned into nice tight fades.

Value: Delivers big time performance for ½ the cost of Comparable OEM
drivers.

Very good club. Almost as good as my Ping TiSi, at half the price. I was slicing this stick initially until I made some adjustments in my setup. The club head gets high marks for appearance. The shaft (also from ZT Golf) is a little whippy - I might need a firm instead of a regular. Ball flight is high but not balooning. Good distance, equivalent to my Hawkeye, and almost as long as my Ping, but with better control than either. All told, an excellent value.

THIS DRIVER IS LONG AND FORGIVING!!! I have played three rounds with this driver, and have hit some awesome drives. It has an Innovative Comp Tour LT stiff shaft and is 45.5" long. I think it resembles the Ping TISI, but having used the TISI before, I find the Spectra far superior to the TISI. I have the 10* model, and while I hit it high, it has not yet ballooned (and I have used it in windy conditions). I am hitting this driver at least 15-20 yards longer than other drivers I have used. Another feature I like is the alignment mark. I realize this is a very small feature, but I feel it really helps me. Not so much as an alignment aide, but more as an aide for where I want to hit the ball on the face. This driver seems to be very well thought out. I highly recommend giving it a try if looking for a driver.

Customer Service

The folks at ZT seem to be very helpful and genuinely concerned with putting out a good product.

A very solid feeling club with a nice solid sound at impact. It is not tinny like other big headed TI drivers that I have tried. Mine is 46", and swingweights at D0.5 with the ZT pro 2.5 stiff shaft in it. This club is light and long. The long shaft bothered me at first, but I have really been killing this thing lately. Off center hits still go a long ways. A great driver at an affordable price.

Customer Service

They are prompt in their replies, and seem extremely willing to adapt to customer needs.
