Zero Tolerance Crown Jewel Spectra Drivers

Zero Tolerance Crown Jewel Spectra Drivers

DESCRIPTION

From ZT Golf: "Crown Jewel Spectra has 320 cc of size, 2 inch face height and is metallic black in color. It does not look that big in comparison with the actual size. Feeling is very solid and sound is mid to high pitch. It has a boring trajectory with soft landing, resulting in more rolls. It hits straight and easy with a minimum dispersion."

After banging with this club for a month I finall sat down to write this review. This is a great club, no ifs and or buts!! You just have to find the right shaft for this guy and you are definately in the money with this club. I chose the PF-65 regular as my swing speed hovers around 95-98 mph. I got it tipped about 3/4 of an inch. It took me a bit to get used to as I have a 975D that I am most fond of. But the more I swung the Spectra. The more I left my 975 at in the trunk or at home. I have gained about 10-15 yds with this club. Even when I fade it, it goes longer. And the few times I''ve been able to work a draw with this pup, FORGET ABOUT IT!! 290-305 yds swingin'' easy. I only paid $95 plus shipping from a guy on Ebay. the shaft cost me another $30 and it is money well spent. So you can''t go wrong with this club as your big stick. So get one and reward yourself with the extra money you''ll save instead of paying the pro''s !!!!!

Customer Service

Good, I like John very personal approach to customer service. The big guys could learn something from him.

I have a 9 degree Spectra and a Classic. The Spectra has a stiff Aldila HM40 - D9 and the Classic has an HM2000/85 - E0. I''m not sure which is better. I hit them farther and straighter than any Taylor, Callaway, Ping or Titliest that I''ve had the chance to try... It just doesn''t get any better than these 2 drivers. You''ll also save alot of money as well as get a straighter - longer shot. The 2 most solid heads that I''ve ever played with in my years of golf.....THE BEST IS HERE!!!!!

A friend of mine wanted a new driver & hit the TM360, liked it and asked me to build him a TF360. He''s 5''7, 210, 26 hdcp (at least) & a 3/4 swinger that pushes right. We went to the range & he tested a few clubs, TM''s, Callaway & TISI''s, as Ping had a demo that day. After handing him 8 or so TISI''s the one he hit the best was a 11.5*, 44", 2* closed, lite flex stock shaft. He was straight and 210 yrds ave distance. I fit him into a ZT Spectra 12* (marked 11, actual 12), 1.5* closed with one of Johns (ZT Golf)HP500, R1A Flex (Senior) at 44.25". I tipped it 1/2" & added a 5 gram pin head weight for a swingweight of approx D2. Well he went to the range and called me to say he didn''t like the club. Stunned, I said why & he answered "It goes straight & just that, I''m not used to that". After a good laugh he said it was the easiest driver he ever hit & has played 2 rounds since & loves the club. Longer & straighter than anything he has hit & he was fitted for Henry Griffiths 6 months ago. He now wants a Spectra for his son. Thanks to my imput & Johns at ZT, this was one very sucessfull setup. BTW, I own 3 Spectra''s myself & rate them a 5. My SS ave is 95mph & my pf65 reg tipped 1" is a monster. 250-280 straight.

In a single word, WOW!

Based on the reviews here and elsewhere, I looked into the ZT line and decided to contact the company by e-mail and see where it led me. I indicated I'd generally had trouble with the driver (currently a Callaway Biggest, 11-degree, firm flex), and my most typical miss was a low push. I needed something I could hit straighter and keep in the air more consistently. I also told them I swing about 95-100 mph with the driver (I play Rifle 6.5 in my 845s Irons.)

Very, very, shortly thereafter I got a response from John Lee informing me that he suggested a 10-degree Spectra with a 1.5 degree closed face. He further suggested a hot new shaft they'd developed, and he'd take a regular flex and tip-trim it to "firm." The new shaft is the XLT-70, and it's 70 grams (uncut) with 3.3 degrees of torque. A brief but intense correspondence followed in which he provided me with quick, clear, honest answers to my technical questions and other concerns. He even thanked me for "all my sincere questions." Try contacting Callaway or another of the big OEMs for information like that and see what kind of response you get.

Anyway, I placed the order to California on Thursday and got it in Connectictut on Wednesday, which I thought was pretty damn good. You can't get something off the rack that quickly from many places. Now, onto what I received.

The Spectra is big, no question about that. But it had a nice light, balanced feeling, and the little emblem on the crown is a great alignment aid. I took my Callaway along for a head to head test. What a mismatch! I did my usual one high, one low, one left, one right routine with the Callaway before trying the Spectra. Right out of the box, whammo, guided missiles down the fairway. This club just wants to go straight, that's all there is to it. I could feel when I caught one on the toe or heel, but the ball still went straight, and didn't suffer much in distance loss either. I went back and forth between clubs, just to make sure I was making it as fair a test as I could. I hit some good shots with the Callaway, but they were few and far between. The Spectra was just a machine, pumping out good drive after good drive. The straightest driver I've ever hit. And long, too! Part of it was hitting the ball more squarely than with other clubs (thanks to the forgiving shaft, and in my case, the slightly closed club face) but the ball also comes off "hot"; it just jumps off the clubface. And without that annoying, tinny sound the Bertha makes. A nice solid "thwunk." This club is in my bag to stay.

For about half the price or less of a "big name" club, you can get one custom built to fit YOU, and you'll hit it longer and straighter. And you'll deal with someone who will actually take the time to try to help you with your golf game. Talk about a win-win situation. This will not be my last purchase for Zero Tolerance.

They've earned their 5 stars from me in every way they possibly could - service, information, fitting, delivery, looks, and performance.

Customer Service

Fantastic! John Lee fitted me perfectly - by e-mail no less!! Prompt, courteous, accurate, helpful responses to all my questions - from the boss himself. He's made me a customer for life. I'll go back here before I try anybody else again.

I think that there are much better drivers available for you out there than this one. The feel at impact is like hitting a rock. I didnt enjoy hitting this club the same way i did with the ping or the taylor mades. I wouldnt buy it.

The crown jewel spectra is probably the worst driver out of this series of drivers. None of them really appealed to me. I dont get much confidence when i hold this club. I would prefer the taylor made 300 series of even the ping Tisi driver. This club isnt that long or forgiving either.

I have only played one round with it so far.

9* Spectra Graphite Design YS6 45 inches Winn grip D3 swingweight.

This driver may be the straightest driver I have ever owned. I did not try to draw or fade it. After the first shot went so straight I just went with it.

Next time out i will try to work it more but intuitively I think this club just is designed to go straight. When I managed to really get behind the ball and hit the screws it was just fantastic. Longer than my 975D for sure.

Feel is good not great and the sweetspot though very frogiving definitely feels a lot better when you find the center.

Distance was very good on mishits and unbelievable on center hits.

The 975D and ths driver are going to by my main weapons. It's funny but I think that after playing with this driver it will help me improve hitting the 975D better.

The spectra is definitely easier to hit and gives a ton of confidence. I am hoping I can work the ball with this club, then it will stay in the bag.

John Lee is a very good man to work with. They were able to find me a square faced driver and that is hard to do with OEMS that cater to slicers and have all the clubfaces hooked.

Overall a very good club for a high to low handicapper that likes to hit it straight. Those that like to work it may like another club.

Customer Service

John Lee will find you a loft and lie and weight as best as he can, which is saying a lot. Most manufacturers do not spend the time or care in this matter.

Model Reviewed: ZT Crown Jewel Spectra

After playing this driver for the last month, it is time for the all important review.

Club(s) played: ZT Crown Jewel Spectra 9*, one with 45" UST PFG 75 stiff, the other with 43.5" ZT Pro 2.5 stiff

Personal specs: 24 y/o, 5'9 tall, 220 lbs, 22.8 handicap at last revision. Driver swing speed approx. 105 mph, average driving distance approx. 220-240 yards.

Impressions: Before picking up these drivers, I was playing a Ping TiSI 8.5* RSD w/ AJ Tech 4270 shaft. Immediately prior to recieving the PF shafted Spectra I traded for an 8.5* RUD TiSI w/ UST PFG 75 reg, which I played for 9 holes. My ballflight with both of the Pings was either a fade or a nasty slice. Most of it can be attributed to my swing, but I think some of it had to do with the abnormally flat lie angles of the Pings.

The Spectra knocked the Ping out of the bag immediately. Why? Better feel, lower flight, more roll. It just seems like the Spectra was made for me.

I then purchased the ZT Pro 2.5 shafted Spectra from a friend. The shorter shaft made for less distance off the tee, but more control. I certainly found the fairway more with this club, but it just wasn't long enough. Not the head's fault by any means.

In my opinion, the Spectra is better than the TiSI for my swing. I love the feel of the head, to me it is so much more solid than the Ping. The ZT Pro 2.5 shaft is very nice too, although I'd like to try one about 2" longer.

This was my first experience with Zero Tolerance products and I was really impressed by the quality. Just as good as any OEM out there for about half the price. John does a great job out there and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend ZT products to any of my friends.

I give the ZT Crown Jewel Spectra an ACE.

Wow!!!. Soooo Straight. It never seems to miss the fairway. What ever you do, it seems to be going straight. Sweet Spot is big so it pretty hard to miss it.

A little hard to work on the draw and fade though. Distance is slightly longer that my normal distance, especially on the ones that actually missed the sweet spot which hardly happen. But again they are pretty straight as compared to other models.

Trajectory is a little high for a 8 deg, but with its deep face, it was actually easy to work the trajectory. Can bring the trajectory down without worry about missing the sweet spot.

Dispersion is exceptionally tight considering my level of play.

Recommends it to anyone who wants a good solid driver to improve their chances of getting more fairways for players of all levels.
