originally i had the maxima 300 and was told of the benefits of the 400 so i bought an 8 degree 400. i hit it too low and thus sold it. after rethinking, i ordered a 9 degree and shafted it with penley eta. WOW! so easy to hit and is as long as anything i've ever hit. very forgiving and doesn't look any larger than other 350 cc heads. i know zt has a new 385 head coming out next year, but who needs it. this is a keeper

The good news is that I just love my new driver. I can't give you accurate distances yet, but some ware around 295-305 yards. What else can I ask for. When I swing properly the ball flight is very accurate. I have a tendency to miss hit on the top 3/4 of the club face but I am working on fixing that. Thanks for selling me this club, I would recommend your company to anyone .

Model Reviewed: ZT Maxima 400 8*

Club: 8 deg. ZT Maxima 400 head. John (you can contact him through ZT's web site) selected the head at 0.5* closed 7.5* loft and 199 grams (on the light side as the club was built long). The head, although large, is as others have posted here, very compact in appearance for the size. It appears no larger, or even smaller, than a TM tour 320. Feel from the head is as solid and alive as any I have used. The ball leaves high, but very flat with excellent carry and good roll as well. It is stamped on the sole as a low spin design - I believe it as there is no balloon action - just high and flat, very desirable for me. Alignment aid on top of the club is extremely useful to me. Finish of the club is first rate. Shaft- MCC/Apache 65P in X-1 flex, total club 46" long. A very high performance shaft. No noodle feel and yet not a board. Very good kick, but always in control. I expected good things from this stick based on other reviews here, but it has exceeded my expectations. I have no desire to search for a different stick, I've found what I was looking for in the ZT400. John tells me the head is USGA legal (below .83 COR).

Customer Service

Absolutely top notch. Contacted Zero Tolerance through their web site and they walked me through the process of selecting both club and shaft. John spent an incredible amount of "email time" with me i

I have owned a number of Zero Tolerance Divers, Spectra, Original Maxima, Maxima 360. The 400 is the longest of all of them, I shafted mine with an Aldila One High Launch Shaft. This is a great combo for me. Lenght, accuracy and forgiveness are superb.

Customer Service

Zero Tolerance products contain some of the highest quality control standards an end user would want. I have never had a complaint.

I am a 10 hcp player with a driver swingspeed of 100-102. My 400 is 9* 199gm head with face 1* closed. Head is mated to a ZT XLT-70 shaft Stiff at 44.5". This is a gorgeous golf club. The deep blue finish of the head looks great and the blue XLT-70 shaft fades to black near tip and looks great with the head. I have been using a ZT Maxima 330 since late March and the finish has held up extremely well. Distance with the Maxima 400 is excellent. I get a medium trajectory with the 400--very slightly higher than the 330. Distance is good on misses--sometimes too good which can get you into more trouble. I think this was one of the downsides of 400 cc drivers. With the closed face a bad swing did occasionally lead to a pull hook. The XLT-70 shaft fit my swingspeed very well. It is a sweet feeling shaft. The ZT maxima drivers are very high quality components that match up well against any OEM. They are a much better value than OEM. I prefer a slightly smaller head and am going to stick with my Maxima 330.

I am 63, 5 10 200 lbs with a clubhead speed of 106 and a 3 handicap. John Lee has really hit a home run with the Maxima 400. The club is a beautiful blue that receives all sorts of attention from partners. The head is very forgiving for players with higher handicaps . The yardage is exceptional. I hit this club about 7 yards longer than the 330 which is also a great club. I am using the XLT70 extra stiff shaft. I get very good distance and control with this shaft. I have always been a power fader( my course has out of bounds on 12 holes always on the left side) and this club is perfect for me. I have to force to get a hook with my weak grip. I am using the nine degree which is perfect for me, since I hit a very high ball. This club is on the cutting edge of golf technology at a very reasonable price. The 400 will increase the lenght off the tee of most players. I highly recommend it to low handicappers, particularly those that hook the ball that want to reform. I still love the 330 and some will find that size head more to their liking. I wish I could carry both clubs.

Customer Service

The service has always been excellent and John Lee runs a quality operation

Model tested was Maxima 400cc - 9 degree, 1 degree closed face, D3 swingweight. Shafts used were Penley Tour Light and UST Proforce 65 both stiff flex and 46" length. Appearance: Beautiful shiny blue finish. Large size head, deep face and large hitting area just adds to confidence. Performance: The Maxima was long and quite forgiving with the Penley Tour Light. But it was even longer with the UST Proforce 65 shaft. Both shaft produce high soaring shots. The UST shaft had a more penetrating stronger trajectory. Off center shots carried well. Dead center hits seem to disappear into the horizon. Feel: Very solid feel. Nice crisp feeling when struck well. Off center hits were not harsh. Distance: The Maxima 400 with the UST 65 definitely hits the ball as long as any club I tried. Dead center hits are outstanding.

First rate customer service. John at ZT istakes great pride in providing service prior and after the sale!

Maxima 400 10 degree with a 45 inch SLT 60 gram Lady flex shaft with a Winn grip. Club is very pleasing to the eye and does not look like a balloon on a stick. I find that the shaft lets the clubhead square up at impact even though it seemed to be whippy. I usually use an A flex, but John knew what he was doing when he recommended this one for me. I am getting more distance and that's what I asked for. It is a real confidence builder and on holes that I have used a 3 wood because of the tight fairway, I use this driver with good results. I like the sound it makes on impact, but I like seeing it flying high, straight and long even better. It's a keeper!

Customer Service

Excellent, John got the club to me in time for a day of testing before a tournament and followed it up with a call to make sure that it arrived on time.
