If you put a nice smooth swing to it, this club will only go straight and long. It feels and looks amazingly great.

I wasn't satisfied with my TaylorMade Supersteel Burner. It seemed to amplify my slice....which really didn't need any amplification. I Tried the Ping TSI, but it just didn't feel right. On a whim, I tried the Deep Red out at the range, and was shocked to find that Wilson had created what can only be described as the perfect club for me.

I can't say enough about it. I went from hitting 250 max to about 280 average, and somehow my slice has disappeared. The sound rivals that of the TSI, and the only "fault" i can find is a relatively high ball trajectory. The club is incredibly light, and I'm not sure whether it's the FatShaft or the head design, but forgiving doesn't begin to describe it. I've been out for five rounds with it, I'm hitting 80% of the fairways, and I've knocked 10 strokes off my game.

We've seen club head design evolve over the years to what we have today, but shaft design seems to have stayed largely the same. To me, the FatShaft is the first step in the next evolution of golf equipment.

Congratulations, and thank you Wilson!

Most consistent driver I have used in a long time. Used a TM 320 for some time and wrote a rather unflattering review of same. Someone wrote me (a TM staffer?) and told me it was the indian not the arrow.
After getting the Deep Red, all I have to say is some arrows fit some indians better than others and the Deep Red is the best fit for me. If you are looking for a new driver, you owe it to your self to give the Deep Red a try. Have hit more fairways with this driver than any other.

Model Reviewed: Wilson Deep Red Driver 9* Stiff

Just took club to the range for the first time. Compared to other drivers I have tried, this one is noticably more accurate. Very light club, but still I can feel the clubhead through the swing (I do swing pretty slow though).

Great feel from the clubhead down the shaft...Grafalloy did a good job on this one. I have about 95mph swing speed and the stiff feels perfect. Very low torque, but still soft feel

Distance was about the same..maybe a bit longer, but very straight and easy to hit. Prices starting to come down, it may become a great buy as Wilson still has identity problems with woods. Good!

tried it out at a local range and is very impressed by it. Long, louder than most but sound nice, consistant, nice shaft, works great if you love to show off your drive, nice deep red color, despite lack of torque this driver and really kill a ball, and did I mention is very long.

I would buy one but can't see myself buying anything with a Wilson name on a club. ????? Neither do I know.

I have only been playing for 9 months and scoring 110 - 114 with a cheap Northwesten I purchased just to play. A friend I play with got tried of the horrible right fade I always hit and let me use his Callaway GBB. My drives improved, but were not consistent. My score improved to 105 - 108.

Three weeks ago I purchased the WDR and the same day went to the driving range. WOW, this club feels good. My average drive was 240 - 260 yards and straight. I could also drive the Callaway just as far, but nowhere as accurate.

My first round with the WDR was very enjoyable. I shot a 96. My best score before was 105. I give the WDR full credit for the 9 stoke improvement. I hit all but 1 fairway with this driver and with the greater distance my short game improved.

This was not a fluke. This last Monday I played my secound round with the WDR and shot a 95. My driving wasn’t as good as the first round with the WDR, but with the forgiveness of the driver and a chip in birdie, I have a new lowest round.

The only negative I have about this club, is that you can not tell when you hit off center. Both toe and heel strikes feel and sound the same. Ball trajectory is also the same, but is still very forgiving. You must look at the clubface for the ball mark to tell.

I highly recomend this club.

I FINALLY received my new Wilson Deep Red Driver about 3 weeks ago (After sending the "stiff" shafted one back for the "Tour" shaft) and I have been on happy camper ever since! I love this club!!!!

I took it out to a local driving range the first day I got it. I came back a couple days later and the owner asked me if I could practice my driver at another range because I had hit so many balls out of his range (Range ends at 290 yards).

The first night in league with the WDR, we were playing on one of the tighter courses (In my league we play on 4 different courses) and I was a bit hesitant to take my new driver out, since I had only had it a couple of weeks. Am I glad I did! I only missed 2 fairways (1 because I hit a sprinkler head and another because I lined up wrong) and never hit a tee shot shorter than 290 yards. I was taking hitting the fairway on holes with the WDR where my playing partners were taking out 3 and 4 woods because the fairways were so tight. I was 50-100 yards farther down the fairway than those guys..... and I was in the short grass!!!

I have always hit the ball fairly long, but my biggest problem was finding the fairway. NOT WITH THIS CLUB! I am hitting the ball longer and straighter than I ever have in my life.... and I have played this game for about 25 years.

Take if from a guy who has tried just about every driver out there and spent about a $1000 on "trade in's" (Buying a club, just to trade it in a couple weeks later for another club), if you are thinking about getting a new driver, buy the Wilson Deep Red. I guarantee you will not be disappointed!!!!

One note: Be a little cautious about the shaft. If you normally hit a "stiff" shafted driver, try a WDR with a stiff shaft and the "Tour" shaft side by side. Personally, I think the shafts are a bit "soft", and you may want to upgrade to a stiffer shaft than you normally play. That being said, even though the shaft feels soft, the "Fat Shaft" has plenty of torque, to keep the head square on toe/heel hits. The "stiff" shaft is perfect for swings from around 95 to 105 mph. If you swing around 105 to 110 with your driver, you might want to check out the "Tour" shaft.

Model Reviewed: Wilson Deep Red Driver - 9 Degree Stiff

I currently use a Mizuno Forged Titantium Driver which is a great driver and don't have any reason to change.

But i have read a lot about this driver and many people have said how good it is. Very long and very straight. So i thought i would give it a try to see if it could improve on the Mizuno.

I demoed a 9 degree stiff on the simulator, at the driving range and on the course. Hitting both the Mizuno and the WDR to see how the compared with each other.

To look at the WDR is a great club and before you hit it you just pray that it works because it looks so good.

It setup very well to the ball and feels quite compact for a 305cc head. I could not fault the club as i stood over the ball apart from the fact that it feels very light when you swing the club. Difficult to feel exactly where the club head is.

On the simulator the club performed well - as all clubs seem to do !!!. But on the range and the course things were not quite so good.

After hitting a fair number of balls on the range i played 18 holes with the club hitting both the Mizuno and WDR on each hole. Hitting serveral balls with the WDR. Over the round i concluded that the WDR does hit the ball fairly straight and a good distance. Mishit shots off the toe or heel do indeed seem more forgiving. Shots out to the right do hold there line with little fade - better than the Mizuno. And the ball flight was a mid flight with lots and lots of roll.

But on the downside the air time was not that good much shorter than the mizuno. It was difficult to feel where the clubhead was during the swing and the sound at impact was very dull and disappointing. Judging by the distance i hit some drives i must have nailed one or two but there was little or no feedback to indicate this from an off centre hit.

With the Mizuno you instantly know when one comes off the middle.

As far as distance was concerned the club performed quite well. Although this was largely due to a lot of roll rather than air time. Compared to the Mizuno when hit well the WDR is far behind the Mizuno. When i nailed both clubs the Mizuno was a good 20 yards ahead of the WDR and even better into the wind.

I am sure the WDR is a very good driver and works for many people as the reviews on this site suggest.

It just goes to show. Beacuse it works for one does not mean it works for all.

I tried the WDR because i thought i might be able to add more accuracy to my a game of the tee. The WDR did give some improvement. But its lack of feel and distance compared to the Mizuno means the Mizuno wins this battle and goes to prove again what a great club it actually is. Until the next battle !!.

Model Reviewed: deep red 9* stiff

if it hadn't been for the assistant in the store where i purchased the driver i would have shelled out about £50 - £80 more for a club that, realistically, really couldn't compete with the deep red

i have been having trouble trying to hit below 80 and had thought that i had reached my best standard (handicap 14), my last 5 - 6 rounds of golf have been 3 and four shots under my handicap and am now looking at a cut to my handicap.

if this has happened after only 3 weeks with the deep red -- what will it be like towards the end of the year ??

i'm so glad i purchased a deep red !!

Faaaaaaantastic. Hit it long and strait....Something that is new to me. The shots that went right stayed in playable territory instead of going deep into the woods. Great feel. Aesthetically pleasing. Definitely worth the price.

I couldn't control the Ping. The ERC was shorter, and didn't want to pay $400 for the Hawkeye.
