Titleist 983E Titanium Drivers

Titleist 983E Titanium Drivers

DESCRIPTION

The slightly shallower front-to-back profile produces a flatter initial launch angle. The neutral internal weighting and slightly lower and forward CG location promote a boring trajectory and low spin. The result is a low spin driver for the stronger or high-spin player seeking optimal distance with trajectory control.

Tried 975D,975J-VS (Hcr),983K Hcr (still have), now the 983E. It's 10.5' as it's always damn wet & soft here in London UK. On a Speeder shaft, therefore slightly heavy. I'm only 8hcp and NOT a massive hitter, but this club is absolute no problem to hit at all !!!! I have to say, I took both Drivers 983K Hcr & 983E on the course and the 983E lands where the 983K stops and the latter is meant to be the Non Conforming club, therefore longer. What a feeling to have, knowing that I have a driver, i'm actually happy to hit anytime. Would like to ask anyone, if I tried the 8.5' or 9.5'on a lighter shaft (graffoloy), would it be easy to get ball in air ? Please e-mail me on Andy.Georgiou@bt.com

Okay, here is my 2 cents on the 983E vs. the 983K. I have owned the 983K w/a Fujikura 757 Stiff shaft and 8.5 loft. I also own a 983e with a Grafalloy Stiff shaft and 9.5 loft. First, let me say I have the weekend hacker "outside to in" swing which more often than not, produces a pulled shot to the left. As such, I had to really adjust my stance and grip with the 983K due to the tendency for the face to close. I had this club reshafted with the Fujikura 757 Speeder shaft telling myself this would be the last Driver I would buy. It is a great club, but not for me. So voila' I buy the 983e. The story you hear about the E having a lower trajectory vs the K is correct by me. I hit the 9.5 E the on the same trajectory as my 8.5 K. I find that I don't have to adjust my grip or stance with the E so I find it more accomodating. Both Drivers are hot. For me, a 12 handicapper, the E sets up more nicely. Both are high quality clubs. I have been told by others that because of the long hosel on the the Drivers, that this causes more stiffness and as such, a Regular Shaft may be in the cards in the future. For now, I am selling the K and looking to trade in for an ERC Fusion. I also have a Cleveland Launcher 460 which is the club I would use if I were in a tourny for its forgiveness and ease to hit. But for classy clean lines, Titleist's 983's are the bomb, particularly as their prices start to drop.

Model Reviewed: 983E 9.5* w/ Speeder/ NV 65

I would definately recommend this driver w/ the NV shaft. I previously played w/ the stock speeder shaft and although I loved the ball flight and distance, I did not like the "board like feel". This is a totally different driver w/ the NV shaft. I hit it at least 10 yds further and this was @ 40* compared to summer temps 90*+. The feel is also totally different. It is much more responsive. I did a lot of research to find the correct shaft to use w/ the titleist bore through (oddly enough many club builders HATE Titleist because of the borethrough being so deep). Anyway Hope this helps someone.

I recommend this driver to a player who likes a traditional look at address. Its a classic club however I've cracked two club faces in the past six months with this club. Titleist is making there clubfaces to thin now. My younger brother plays the 983k and it seems to me that the two clubfaces are made of two entirely different metals. Although there not.

This by far the best driver out of the titleist factory. Its 15 yards farther than the 975L-FE and it goes lower an straighter. If you have a swing speed over 110 miles, don't even consider the 983K, this is the best driver for you, and believe me, i've tried them all.

Model Reviewed: Titleist 983 E

OK I'm back. I've had enough time now with the E model that I can talk with some authority. First the usual stuff 6' 3" 220 pounds, blah blah blah, smooth but strong swing with a late release. OK? Now, This is Titleist's best driver head ever made, period. For my swing, I went through their faux speeder, and a Penley ETA (pro stiff) The penley is a fine stick but, can't even talk to my hook when it comes in. What I have noticed is that my hook comes in around 80 degrees or higher air temp. Hmmmm? Anyway, my good buddies at Harrison got me involved with a 1.8 Pro Tour in S flex. No tipping required. I really, really have to try to hook this beast. It won't at any temp. This package should be illegal. Straight to slight draw or slight fade,, when I want. The quality of graphite is where it's at. You get what you pay for guys. Distance is maybe 10 yards longer on average compared to my FE but, STRAIGHT STRAIGHT STRAIGHT. This combo is totally repsonsible for my dropping 3 strokes clean this year. I hit the Fairways guys, long and straight.

Model Reviewed: Titleist 983E - Grafalloy Prolite Stiff

This driver rocks. I probably have about 110 mph swing speed, I'm average height and weight and hit drives about 260-280 when straight and well struck. Vitals out of the way, this stick feels awesome with this shaft. Seems to have a slight fade bias for me - I usually draw the ball and snap hook when I'm swinging poorly. If anything, I lose balls right with this driver, but usually I just bomb it 280-300. Feel at impact is so solid. Ball flight is awesome. Easy to keep low, but when I put the ball up in my stance a little I can hit it very high as well, with monstrous carry (275+). I am a reasonably long hitter, but certainly no John Daly. However, I can keep up with some very long hitters with this driver. Probably 10-15 yards longer than my 975J w/ UST Proforce 65 S shaft. Way longer than Taylor or Cleveland for me - and more accurate. Liked the feel and ball flight of this better than 983K, but both are very good. I like the deeper face of the E better for my swing. Titleist makes great drivers. Highly recommend trying this bad boy.

Model Reviewed: Titleist 983E, 10.5, YS-6 Stiff

Played with the Cleveland Launcher 400, 10.5 degrees, regular stock shaft, for most of this season. Great club, felt a real zip through impact hitting it around 270-280 yards on solid hits, but found I that I hit it exceptionally high for me with most mis-hits being high pushes (with good distance) off the toe. I wanted to bring the ball flight down with more control of the clubhead so I decided to try a 983E, 10.5 degrees with a YS-6 stiff shaft, based mainly on other reviews submitted here (which was helpful but a bit tricky. It would be most helpful if reviewers indicated things like height, weight, swing speed and, most importantly, their swing tempo i.e. smooth vs. quick swing so that you could determine if a reviewer's opinion would apply generally to you). I found the YS-6 shaft to have the same zip (it generally has the same dynamics as the Fujikura in the Launcher) with more clubhead control - likely due to the stiff shaft - but I found that I have a tendency to hit slight to moderate fades with it (I am still not convinced the ProLite wasn't the better choice for me - I have stiff ProLites in my fairway woods and my 975J and find them easier to square up at impact - I hit these relatively straight). I hit the ball slightly lower (but not low) with a more boring trajectory and it seems that I hit it about the same, if not slightly longer, than the Launcher. Basically, it is exactly what I was looking for and am pleased with how playable it is. I was worried because Titleist markets this as a club for players with the highest swing speeds or for those who put alot of spin on the ball(neither of which applies to me), but despite what they say, I think this club great, even for us mere mortals, and is worth trying before dismissing it as too difficult to handle(it is a beautiful looking club - particularly if you don't like the full pear shape of the 983K). Be warned though that, unlike the 983K, this club is no designed with a draw bias, chronic slicers may have difficulty no matter what shaft or loft you try. For your comparison purposes, I'm 5'10", 150lbs., with a smooth swing in the 95-105 mph range. And I'm 14 years old - kidding (mid-30's).

Customer Service

Don't know about Titleist but Bob Martin's give great value on trade-ins - so much so that I, and some of my friend's, routinely make the 4 hour round trip from Toronto to trade-in our extra clubs.

Model Reviewed: 983 E

I actually have both the K and E. Either way these are the best two out there. My playing partners can't touch my distance. I would have to say that both are long. I don't find the E as being any lower than the K like advertised. I would say that the speeder shaft is a bit better. My K has the speeder and the E has the Grafalloy both are stiff. The Grafalloy doesn't seem as firm and I hit left quite a bit whereas the speeder is usually straight. Probably will have speeder put in E. In either case each are great and well, well, well worth the money!

Model Reviewed: Titleist Driver 983E 8.5 stock stiff speeder... Try to say that ten times real fast!

Well, well, well, Where do I start... BABOOM! is a good place. Ya' know, you don't realize what a difference technology makes (and it kinda' sucks that it does... but it's fun!). I was playing the Mizuno 310 8 degree (had to change the shaft... Harrison UL 2.5) and it is a superb piece of equipment possibly the most solid driver I have ever hit (feels as good out doors as it does indoors... a rarity) and plays very, very well. When my friend started out driving me with his Cobra 427 (just a few yards) I thought I was loosing distance then he got the Titleist 983K... Same thing... Long story short I got the 983E and all is well. Great club the feel took some getting used to but now I love it. I was going to change the shaft but I'm hitting it just fine very accurate (However if I do it will be the Fujikura Vista Tour 60).
